Ruth's Chris Steak House - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
Went for thanksgiving dinner. They offered a turkey dinner which looked good but we chose steak instead. Added the lyonnaise potatoes and am pretty happy with that choice. They were delicious. Steaks were amazing as always. Only drawback was the number of tables but they were obviously set up for the holiday so it was to be expected.
We went for Thanksgiving traditional turkey with all the trimmings. Have eaten here before but never on a holiday. Impressive meal, more than enough to satisfy and they send you home with enough food for another meal. Considering all this the price is quite reasonable. Reservations are a must. This is one of our most favorite restaurants in Scottsdale and well worth the short drive from Fountain Hills.
My date and I loved the food, especially the encrusted filet. Our favorite wine, Blue Cape Cellars Pinot Noir, had been sold out so we opted for wines by the glass. Our waiter was wonderful and friendly, and paced the delivery of the courses appropriately. My date particularly liked the house salad presentation. The cheesecake desert was also wonderful and the presentation was also perfect.
My only disappointment was that they do not accommodate Corkage for your own wine. I called them to find out before we took a bottle with us and was informed they could not do it because it was against Arizona law.
I did a bit of research and found that to be incorrect as there are places that do allow corkage in Arizona. I would like to see them change their policy.
My wife and I, together with our grandson who was celebrating his 21st birthday, dined a couple of days ago (a busy Saturday evening) at Ruth Chris’s Scottsdale, Arizona restaurant. We have eaten there before, but it had been several years since our last visit (which was a good one). This time, ordering from the Classics Menu list (which seemed to be priced well with starter, entrée, side, and dessert included), we were disappointed with our overall dining experience. There were several reasons for this:
•The table we were taken to was in a highly undesirable location—crowded and in a high traffic area (perhaps we should’ve complained, but didn’t)
•The 12-oz ribeye (which was the choice of both my wife and me) tasted greasy (perhaps cooked in too much butter?)
•Our entrees were all served in small plates; what happened to serving steaks in full-sized plates?
•Our side offering (rice w/ crab) tasted soggy and greasy
•After finishing our entrees and sides, dessert service was very slow
•We also had a couple of glasses of red wine with which we had no familiarity; my wife, who is an expert wine connoisseur, evaluated as “low end” and not worth the price
On the plus side, our server was reasonably attentive (other than the dessert situation) and assisted our grandson with arranging an alternative starter menu offering.
We expected a superior dining experience similar to those we’ve enjoyed recently at other comparable Phoenix steakhouses (e.g., Arrowhead Grill, Fleming)—but did not receive such. Consequently in the future we will vote with our feet and not be returning to Ruth Chris. Our opinion is that their quality has slipped from what it used to be.
I stop here everytime I'm in the Scottsdale area. For the amount of time I have eaten here I have never been let down. The beauty of Ruth Chris is ,no matter which location you eat at , you can depend on getting the same quality/service/menu at each location
( with the exception of Biloxi )
This used to be our "go to place" for special occasion dinners. Maybe tonight was an off night, but the service was lacking and the food was just OK. I only had water to drink and waited a long time between refills. While we both had steak for dinner, only one of us was offered a steak knife. We've searched other local steakhouses to be our next go to place, and have had better experiences elsewhere.
