Ruth's Chris Steak House - Sarasota Ratings and Reviews
This is a very good steak restaurant with excellent food selections. We have dined here in the past and were aware that one of the restaurants food features is that butter features heavily in meat preparation. If you don't take action when ordering, your meat will arrive swimming in butter, which we don't find too appetizing. Our food was delivered as ordered and, overall, it was a very good experience.
We dine at Ruth's a few times a year. This was our first visit in Sarasota. We had an issue with the appetizer (veal ravioli) coming out lukewarm on a cold plate. Sent it back and our waiter was very apologetic and remedied the problem quickly. Otherwise, enjoyed the dinner.
I`m from New Orleans (Metairie, to be exact) where Ruth began - and I'm 79 years of age - and I`m a steak lover - - there is no restaurant that does a steak as well as Ruth`s Chris -- none, period ! (and the chop salad is pretty darn good, too) add to that great atmosphere and professional servers -- it just doesn't get any better !
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner Saturday evening. A nice card signed by everyone and rose petals greeted us at our table.
The waite staff was friendly and well trained and most accommodating.
Cocktails were great...Highly recommend the Blackberry Sidecar. YUM!
The food was wonderful.
Our deserts also came with Happy anniversary written in chocolate on the plates.
All in all it was a perfect evening and anniversary for my husband and me!
We arrived to find a welcoming Receptionist who was proceeding to show us to our table when a second lady arrived at the desk, and held up our being seated while she decided which tables to switch, etc. there was a couple in line behind us as well, just as annoyed at being kept waiting while an employee made table changes. Once we were seated at the selected table, just outside the second door to their Private Dining Room that was occupied by a large group I was concerned. Normally when we dine there, and we have done so since they opened in Sarasota., we are seated in one of the tables at the top nearest Tamiami Trail. This second door to the Private Dining Room is used by staff to take orders as well as deliver orders, etc., not to mention the guests moving in and out as well. It was very busy around this table chosen for us as well as very very noisy. I asked a member of staff to please close the door because we could not have a conversation at this table. It was closed, then opened for access and left open. I was extremely annoyed and embarrassed for my guests. The evening was spoiled! So we were delayed access to the table due to one employee. Shown to an unacceptable table finally,
service was sporadic, and we all felt totally annoyed. Ruth Chris, not acceptable!
As a frequent patron, I can tell you Ruth's is always really good. We were there Saturday, and it was simply as good as it gets. Handcrafted cocktails were inventive and delicious... Everything that came out of the kitchen from apps to a seasonal soup, to entrees, sides and dessert was just perfectly on point. Service (Rob) was stellar as always. We both remarked that the evening was over the top good, even using the usual high Ruth's Chris standard as a benchmark.
Service and food were outstanding. I had the ribeye and my husband had the filet mignon. We were both very happy with our entrees. They were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The bread pudding was so delicious. I had the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. It was also excellent. Our servers were wonderful. It was a wonderful evening.
Wonderful Christmas dinner. From the valet car parker to the hosts and hostesses and servers, Ruth’s Chris made today very special. The steaks and lobster tails were cooked very well, as were the sides. We topped off the meal with creme brûlée and a chocolate lava cake, both of which combined to help us finish this meal in style. The restaurant was particularly busy tonight and still did a nice job of making everyone feel special.
We normally enjoy Ruth’s Chris very much but this dinner was Christmas night and the restaurant was extremely loud and chaotic. In spite of a reservation, we waited half an hour to be seated, a long time for a waiter and then a very long time before the food arrived. The food was cold when it came but, by then, we were so hungry we didn’t complain and ate it. In the meantime the restaurant was so noisy it was difficult to converse. Unlike our usual experience here, this evening was quite unpleasant and certainly not worth the premium price. I guess the moral of the story is to avoid the major holidays at Ruth’s Chris.
My husband and I celebrated his birthday here last week. We started out with drinks, a martini and cosmo which were perfectly made. It was a delicious meal, we both had rib eyes which were cooked to perfection. The service was top notch, a small glitch when seated as we were taken to a somewhat secluded side room and requested a different table in the main room. Within minutes we were shown to another which was subsequently sprinkled with Happy Birthday decorations by the maitre d’, a really charming touch. Our server Dana was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Cartwright, a young man setting up and clearing tables nearby, as he worked. We would definitely recommend this location of Ruth’s Chris for any occasion as we saw families, people on dates and others just out for a fantastic meal. Oh and my husband also received a complimentary dessert for his birthday and a card from the staff, nice touch.
