Ruth's Chris Steak House - Sarasota Ratings and Reviews
We frequent Sarasota Ruth’s several times a year. Some for special occasions, guests, company business or just the 2 of us. On 11/7, the restaurant wasn’t busy. In short, one strip steak had to be sent back, ordered med rare and it was raw. The creamed spinach was served luke warm and, my baked potato was sent back twice as it was served cool twice until it came back hot the 3rd time. In all the years, this is the only time that very usual items were overlooked a number of times. Server & service excellent. Reservation was honored All personnel were pleasant & efficient.
My wife and I decided to dine at Ruth's Chris due to the fact it had been years since we last dined there. We both decided to order the Petite Filet medium rare. When the server brought our meals my meal was done perfectly but my wife's was basically raw on the inside. Once we pointed that out to our server he apologized and promptly took it back to have the chef address the issue. When he returned with the filet it was prepared to her liking. The sides we ordered to go along with the meal were very good . The service we received throughout the night was very good and the wait staff was very attentive. We also discovered the restaurant has a great wine list and we chose a nice bottle of Pinot Noir to complement our meal which we enjoyed very much. We had a very nice evening and will plan to return.
The crab-mango-avocado tian appetizer was fabulous! The steaks are about the best of any premium steakhouse. If there's one place for improvement, it's with the bread served at the beginning of the meal. It's simply a loaf of plain white bread..nothing notable about it, including taste. I think this is the only area where a singular food offering doesn't meet the quality or creativeness of the rest of the menu.
Have been here numerous times order an expensive bottle of wine that I had to pour for myself after the first pouring that my waitress did. The Manager even walked around and asked how my dinner was had seen that the wine glasses were empty and never even offered to pour additional wine. Besides the restaurant was not busy by no means a lot of empty tables. She was not interested other than asking us our dinner was and that’s it
Each time I go the food is less and less and the prices are more and more and I’m not a cheap person.
Many nicer restaurants with better service then here.
The service at Ruth's Chris was impeccable. The food was good, but not great. I have to admit, however, that we didn't have steaks. I had the Halibut, that was excellent. My wife had the crab cakes. They were just OK. Being from Maryland, the home of crab cakes, she was a bit disappointed. She had the Key Lime pie and I had the Chocolate Duo. Hers was a large (about 6" round) key lime pie. Mine was about 3" round. Both were excellent, however, I was left wanting for more while she took over half of hers home for another day. Overall, I would recommend Ruth's Chris Steak House if you're looking for a really nice place for a date or a quiet dinner. Just be prepared to pay premium prices for your meal.
I frequently go to fine dining establishments. This Ruth’s Chris was subpar. We were seated 20 minutes past our reservation time. We were seated in the far, back corner of the restaurant. My petit filet arrived less than rare, when I requested medium rare. Finally, although our server and assistant were great, they had limited knowledge of wines and neither the manager or sommelier came by to check on us.
We brought our friends here for their first visit and they we're blown away by everything from the ambience to the best steak dinner they've ever had! Of course, we agree too that it's the best steak in town! Oooh, and those Cremini mushrooms, and the Creme Brulee! It's our favorite special place!!
Our group of six had an amazing dinner and once again, Ruth's Chris provided top notch, attentive service. The food was prepared to perfection and the special touches that were added to the table for our birthday girl were a welcome surprise. Our server Reilly added to the experience with a fun and witty personality. Thank you again and we look forward to celebrating at your restaurant in the future!
We love coming here— Tobias is amazing and always makes our dining experience special. He has a great ability to pair wine selections with our meal choice — food is absolutely wonderful and wonderfully consistent! Ruth’s in Sarasota is one of our all-time favorite places to dine because the elements simply come together so well. From appetizer to coffee and /or dessert— this restaurant has never disappointed!
The menu includes delicious selections for every palate. The fact that it arrives at your table perfectly cooked and sizzling hot on your plate..that makes it perfect. The service was outstanding, the waiters absolutely know their table and seem to actually want to know the guests. We loved the dinner - and oh, the dessert!
Sadly I wasn't happy with our dinner as a special occasion for my son's 21st birthday. Although service was wonderful and and ambience was fine the steaks which they're known for came out close to raw when ordered medium rare. When I brought it to there attention their solution was to bring out a plate that was hot and have us cut it up ourselves and cook it ourselves. This is not my idea of fine dining. Being famous for their steaks you would think they would have the cooking of them pretty much down . On top of that my shrimp were like rubber. Brought me new shrimp , same problem. My steak was over salted and seasoned as well. My son pretended tp enjoy it for my sake but I was terribly disappointed because it was an experience that was to be remembered for a long time because we've never been before as I live on disability income from cancer and had to save for quite some time to be able to take him. At 164.00 dollars for two meals you expect a near flawless meal at best. My friends steak was raw too. I believe they comped her meal. We won't be going back. I'm deeply saddened because you can't redo your 21st birthday.
Good salads, sides were just okay, creamed spinach overdone and small portions on the veggie plate (in comparison to past visits). In my opinion, they were not "shareable" sizes. Our waitress was aware I wanted my asparagus lightly cooked and when it came out well overcooked, she took it upon herself to bring me fresh, lightly cooked asparagus. I should have mentioned the spinach but did not want to seem like I was complaining as one side was already not correctly cooked. The desserts we selected were delicious. My husband's steak was okay, but not as great as in the past. Overall, a somewhat disappointing visit. The staff was very nice. The food just fell short of our expectations. In lieu of the prices charged, we expect the food to be cooked as expected the first time, and to be "wowed" by our selections. This visit was a miss on that level.
This is only my second time dining at Ruth Chris. However, I can't wait to come back! The service was outstanding and the food was over the top from the presentation down to the after dinner drink. Your waitstaff made us feel like we were the only people in the room but not overly attentive to interfere with our interacting with our friends. I look forward to dining with Ruth Chris again very soon.
We have dined at Ruth Chris over the years and the dress code is clearly marked as you enter the restaurant we always dress up myself in a dress my husband dress pants and dress shirt we have noticed that people are coming in with ripped jeans, shorts, sandals, something you would wear to the beach and it is really upsetting to see such a fancy restaurant not upholding to a dress code. Next there are young children some even as little as babies if I'm going to goto a nice restaurant and spend a quiet evening with my spouse I would like it to be quiet and peaceful not kids running around and crying. The positive note I would highly recommend Rob as your waiter he goes above and beyond to help you out and make sure have everything you need making sure you are highly satisfied we have told several people about Rob and after they have gone to Ruth Chris they always ask for him and no one else! You will not be disappointed!!
The ambiance is very nice. The steaks were flavorful with a buttery taste. One in our party ordered the Chilean Sea Bass which was awful. Thankfully, the steaks were big enough that we gave her some and she was satisfied. They were too timid to send it back.
Disappointed! After having an excellent experience at Ruth's in North Carolina last month our experience of undercooked steak on a cool plate (they stress the point that their plates are 500 degrees) , cold ravioli and lackluster sides left us very disappointed. The saving grace was the extra attention to my teens birthday celebration and rapid response to cure the food issues. I will probably patronize the other fine steak restaurants before thinking of returning.
Our waiter Rob was amazing. We were four couples out for our monthly couples date and our first one at Ruth Chris.
Everything from start to finish of our meal was perfect. My ribeye was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten, the sweet potato casserole was incredible as well as the bread pudding dessert.
This restaurant is a total food experience! From the first greeting you receive until departure- hands down a wonderful dining experience. We had friends who were visiting us and they had never been to Ruth's Chris-- they were very impressed to say the least! Their steaks are simply amazing and we enjoyed a full course meal and Tobias created an amazing hand cocktails! ( big thank you!). Janel, assisted by Noah, was flawless in their suggestions and presentation. Thanks to the manager who is always making the rounds to see if everything is great! Stuffed chicken breast, sirloin, ribeye or filet and lobster tail- amazing!!!
