The wait staff was fantastic!!! The hostess even put birthday confetti on our table, which was very sweet. And the food was amazing; expensive, but that was to be expected. Even with the drinks, I would go again for a good reason

we were at the restaurant on 4/9/18 a Monday night for a birthday party .. you name it , everything went wrong .. starting with the waiter asking me what a Crown Royal Manhattan is ! and then downhill from there . The manager had to be called twice to the table to resolve problems . It was very disappointing . Our waiter had major attitude and did not explain the menu, and made no attempts to correct the problems .. the table next to us .. also had problems returning food for not being cooked enough. That table had a different waitress . This usually is not the case in this restaurant . They sure blew it tonight . Last friday night we were in House of prime Rib where is was PACKED to the hilt .. over 500 people .. and our dinner was excellent .. its shocking Ruth Chris was dead as a door nail on Monday night and still seemed to Ruin everything . ON one good point the manager did help the situation quiet a bit and were thank full for that . The ceaser salad came drenched in dressing , they changed the wedge salad , didnt tell us .. when does a wedge salad come with CORN on it .. and Green goodess dressing . Come on who has ever heard of a Wedge salad with Green goddess dressing and CORN .. next the Birthday person ordered medium rare filet .. came out well done .. then last but not least the waiter throws 3 deserts on the table with out asking if we wanted to upgrade them since ONE of us is allergic to NUTS . I have to ask myself is it me or the restaurant. ! please feel free to tell me if Im wrong . thanks lets not forget .. nothing from the waiter saying happy b day .. just throw the plates on table and walked off .. SHAME .. we still left a 20 % tip .. !

I go to Ruth’s Chris for my birthday every year and every year I am never disappointed. Good time was had by all.

Everything are very good except rib eyes steak.
We order medium rare, but feel like 80% well down.

Front desk seemed confused with seating arrangements, ppl without reservations were sat before us with similar head count and when asked they were short with us. The server was outstanding and noticed my wife's steak was not done to what she ordered and took it back to the kitchen without us asking. Overall dress attire of patrons was not true to what is asked of on the website with sports attire and baseball caps being worn; it ruined some of the ambience of the dining experience.

Very disappointing!!! We’ve eaten at several other Ruth Chris in other cities and had amazing experiences. This dinner was very disappointing! The room they put us in had several large parties and made the noise level uncomfortably loud. It was difficult for us at some points to have a conversation. Out of the 3 steaks ordered at our table, 2 were severely undercooked. 1 was sent back and still came back to the table too undercooked to eat. At $50 a pop that is not acceptable. On top of this, our water glasses remained empty from half the meal until we left the restaurant. Empty wine glasses were never removed even when new wine was delivered. Bottom line, this restaurant was not up to Ruth Chris’s standards.

The food was just okay. My steak lacked flavor and needed salt bad. I’m not even a huge salt person. I got the rib eye the fat was so chewy. Usually on a nice steak you can eat the fat just fine. This was not the case. Mash potatoes were delicious and so was desert. Staff was very friendly.

The food was perfect! The waiter made sure the food was safe for sons allergies.

Seated by kitchen- walls were dirty- had to wipe greasy fingerprints off wall with my napkin- gross.

Ordered a bottle of wine- server brought a different vineyard wine seven vintages newer- the server said it was the same wine with a different name. She is wrong. Wine Stewart did not stop by the table. Total miss is the knowledge of wine- an hour from Napa nonetheless!

Been there many times, but most likely won’t go back.

One of our all time favorite places to celebrate holidays and celebrations. Professional staff and consistently good food.

Our server, Pat, was outstanding. Amazing food.

First time to this establishment. We had such a great experience that we will definitely he back. The steak was cooked perfectly, and my date couldn't believe the size of the portions. They were huge! The cheesecake was so good that we had to buy 2 more to go to bring back to the other family members at the hotel.

Excellent experience from beginning to end.

Excellent food and top of the line service. Every person we interacted with had the service thing figured out, which is more than one can say about a lot of places in The City. I really enjoyed it and would go back there. And I don't even eat meat.

They made it apecail for my husband's birthday. Everything was perfect! They even spiced up the barbaque ship for us, the custom sauce should be put on the menu. Just perfection! Our steaks were perfectly med rare and the wine was tasty..

I had a great experience overall. The food was great and the wait staff were incredibly kind and lively - specially Dena and Tomas (?). My only negative experience was with the hostess -I believe her name was Liza. She was rude on the phone when I called prior to my reservation, as well as in person when I arrived to the restaurant.

Other than that, the food was delicious! I look forward to going back soon.

Great food and service. It is pricy, but it is worth if it is for a special occasion. The portions were good and balanced with spices to taste good.

The service is great, but the food is just not up to the price. It is really good, believe me....just not $60 for a fillet kind of good. Seafood stack is a great dish. Enough for 4 people easy - includes all sorts of shellfish/crab.

I've been to the Ruth's Chris in Walnut Creek, but this is my first time at the San Francisco location. The Walnut Creek location is brighter and more spacious, so I prefer the Walnut Creek location for that reason. Overall the food is really good, and the Ruth's Chris choice is a good deal (salad, entree, dessert). However, Ruth's Christ is not vegetarian friendly. I know it's a steakhouse, but when a member of your family is vegetarian, you want her to enjoy the experience too. The menu says ask the waiter for vegetarian options. The answer is you can pick 3 side dishes, and btw they're out of broccolini, but they have broccoli. She orders the broccoli, and it is literally steamed broccoli with no seasoning, not even salt. The sweet potato is covered in so much sugar, it would be considered a dessert. It was a real disappointment for her. However, us carnivores enjoyed our meal very much.

I went to celebrate for my birthday and they made me feel special every step of the way from the little happy birthday confetti on the table to my dessert that had happy birthday written with chocolate on it. I loved it so much!!

Our annual celebration of March birthdays in our family. All 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal of huge steaks, New York and ribeye along with prawn and calamari appetizers and side dishes. We have come here for years and are never disappointed. Would definitely recommend for steak lovers. Our server Christine was fabulous.

We dine at Ruth Chris in San Francisco Van Ness 4-5 times per year and visited Friday 3/9/2018 for a birthday celebration. We like this restaurant generally but were disappointed this time around. This was a birthday celebration and I had asked for a special request and seating at a specific quiet table in main dining room, where we almost always dine at. When we arrived the hostess did not even acknowledge my request, (for example could have said "Oh Mr H so sorry that table was not available for your birthday celebration but I have another nice table instead..."), instead just seating us routinely at a table convenient to her. Rather than argue with her we accepted that table (mistake) which unfortunately was next to a 6-top of loud and rowdy patrons. So not starting out great. Fortunately we did have a fantastic waiter "Jack", an experienced waiter who had been around and knew how to provide attentive service. We appreciated his efforts. Steaks from the prix fixe menu (6 oz petite filet) were just okay, a little tough, not outstanding. In past visits the general manager typically made the rounds but not this time so no convenient opportunity to provide our feedback directly to them. Did not meet my expectation. Overall okay, but I expect more for the price that I'm paying there. I'm sure I'll return but hope to have a better experience and if no improvement will find a new venue for our upscale nights out.

Celebrated my sister’s BD, had a great time, food was perfect, had a wonderful experience from the time we entered to the moment we left, and outstanding service!

The staff was very warm, inviting, and accommodating. They provided stellar service .

Food and service were excellent (as usual - outstanding) -- however, a disappointment in the wine offerings. The Moscato recommended as a pairing for the Ruth's Chris Classic menu was not available, and a choice Cabernet was not available. While we were able to "settle" on an acceptable Cab to accompany our dinner, it was disappointing not to have our choice wines available. Not sure why they were "out of stock", but good wine is always a must when enjoying a high caliber meal at Ruth's Chris.

Food and service was excellent! Would recommend to friends and family. Pricy but worth it.

I like the steak, very juicy and tasty. The service was great as well. But I just don't like the steak doesn't come with vegetables unless we order vegetables with additional price. In lots of nice restaurants, steak also comes with vegetables. Anyway, it was for my birthday and I got a small but free birthday cheese cake which was delicious.
