Very good meat, no doubt one of the best in town
The hash browns were the best.
We weren't expecting to be faced with sitting next to someone who arrived with jeans around his hips and his underwear-clad rear-end in our faces as he tried to sit down. His "lounging" on the bench, like it was a bed or something throughout the meal, and complaining the whole time were off-putting. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary, and because of this person, the experience wasn't what we'd hoped for. It seems like a restaurant as nice as this one should have some reasonable expectations of polite behavior and decent dress. The "fear of offending" him turned into offending so many other people. Despite the fact that the food & service was beyond excellent, for these reasons I would not return or recommend it to anyone else.
I think you should institute a dress code, some of the people looked like they were going to a sporting event not dinner. Baseball caps? Sneakers and a Logo jacket? Come on.
I love Ruth's Chris steak house. Everything about dining here is excellent, the wait staff is knowledgable and professional. The food is excellent and cooked to perfection, I rarely have a steak better than one served by Ruth's Chris. The sides are delicious and go perfectly with any entree.
Caesar salad was very good. Ribeye steak was OK, though quality seems to have declined over the years. Mushroom side and creamed spinach sides lacked seasoning. Too expensive.
Excellent service and the food is great
My son likes meat, so this is a place we go on his birthday. I like it. The food is good, with nice sized servings... Personally, I think too many tables are put in the rooms and it becomes very crowded feeling and loud.
Other than the hostess being like she didn't enjoy being there, the food and service is always outstanding.
I was extremely disappointed with Ruth's Chris in San Francisco. I had heard so many wonderful things and then I showed up. Upon entering there were over a dozen people blocking the check in area, when some moved the hostess did not make any attempt to help anyone. I approached her and she continued to ignore me. I told her I had a reservation and she nodded but did not tell me how long the wait and I had already been there 20 minutes after my reservation time. The food was so not tasty enough to cost what it did and the ceasar salad was awful, it did not even have ceasar dressing, it was more of a vinagrette. Perhaps I am spoiled by other SF restaurants.
Food is good, better than average. Waiter ia very friendly. I would give four(4) stars for that price. I waited long time to get may valet car back when leave.
Had a reservation, they made us wait. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I asked the bartender to check on my table, they had given it away to someone else. Server was good, but the host wasn't paying attention and we waited too long for our table.
The Cowboy Ribeye is that good, but the Spicy Lobster is AMAZING.
We were very pleased with our service and the beautiful presentation for Paul's birthhday dessert. The table was also decorated and made it a special evening for the 4 of us.
The staff is great and so is the food. Although it is a chain, it is really a restaurant that caters to the locals as their staff is loyal and friendly. The GM, Rich, does a superb job ensuring that his guests are taken care of. My son and I frequent the restaurant, and they always go out of their way to treat us like VIPs. Pass on Harris' and go to Ruth's! You won't be disappointed.
Great food and service. Would definately go again!
They shouldn't hurry up the customers so much. My table hadn't even finished our appetizer and they brought out the main courses. This is a fairly pricy restaurant, customers eating here should enjoy their experience rather than feel rushed to eat all their meals so the table can be turned for the next group.
For those that like incredible steaks Ruth's Chris in San Francisco is tough to beat. Both my son and I had as good a steak as we've ever had. My spouse had an excellent stuffed chicken dish. Excellent wine list. Excellent service. Not recommended for vegans!
I wrote that it was my Wifes Birthday, the table should have had something on it to show that. All they did was bring dessert, the table adjacent to me had rose petals on it. I felt they put forth very little effort.
Excellent dining facility! Brilliant staff and very accomodating! Will definately go again!
The ambiance was reminiscent of a gentleman's club, my folks took me to while I was growing up in Chicago. Fields Men's Club would be a good comparison, though sadly it no longer exits.
Great time, and our guest was suitably impressed.
Hardly hip, but they serve a fabulous steak. No fru-fru plate squiggles and sauces, but when you want a really perfectly cooked, aged, tender steak, this is the place. The mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and bread pudding with whiskey sauce are heart-stoppingly good (literally).
Very disappointing that the wine list is never properly updated. The server tried to serve us a wine that I ordered which was a 2008 and he attempted to serve us the 2009. the 2008 was on the list not the 2009. This is the 4th time this has happened at this particular Ruth's Chris. They need to get their act together on the wine list
Once again , the best steak and great service. :)
Went here for Valentine's Day and boy do I regret it.
Pro's: JUST ONE. The host greeted us and sat us promptly for our reservation.
Con's: First we were sat down next to a group with a loud baby. Inconsiderate parents let their baby yell and scream ALL NIGHT. Baby threw papers and bibs and made a huge mess on the floor. Our waitress did not once apologize or address this issue, in fact trying to ignore it. I had a headache and almost demanded a seat change but they finally got up after 20 minutes.
Our waitress didn't know her wine really and babbled about her choices which made no sense to me. Food was subpar and used to be much better.
Nothing is better than a steak from Ruth's
My second time here. Very expensive, very, very good just about sums it up.
Be prepared to take a $150 dollar hit for dinner for two. However, for special occasions, when it calls for pristine steaks & preparation - right there, perfect execution. Service is top notch. (Don't go for the "loaded" hash browns though. My fears about them were confirmed. Too much of a breakfast item to go with a fine dinner, IMHO. Other appetizers, such as carpaccio, are great.)
excellent food, excellent service!
Overall was great, we had a good time!!
Ruth's Chris Steak House was excellent from their perfectly prepared food to their attentive service and extensive wine list. It was my husband's birthday and they'd sprinkled happy birthday confetti on the table, what a fun surprise! We weren't sure what wine we'd like best as our tastes are different, so our waiter (Hugo) asked the sommlier to suggest a wine and it was awesome and affordable. I would highly recommend Ruth's Chris to everyone!!! We will definetly make another trip it was so worth it!
While the food was great they were running nearly 45 minutes behind on reservations and they went offering other options of compensation for the delay. Other than that dissapointment, it was great'
I'd like to be careful not to discriminate people by English and my original language.I did trust the Ruth's Chris Steak House is good service and good foods, but the Ruth's Chirs SF is really bad place for visiter from outside USA.So Ruth's Chris staff should ask all customer's birth place etc,. I hope this is value information for thinking to visit a Ruth Chris's SF. I still very angry to them.
They were 30 min behind on reservations, and it was very crowded in waiting area and bar
It was your typical steakhouse, with the salad and the bread under par, and the service almost speeding it up a little too much, but once the steak came, we were very happy! Yummy steak!
Excellent value with DAT - the portion of meat is satisfying, and the texture and flavor rank #1 on my short list of filets. The prix fixe menu offered is totally worth it for the meat and creamed spinach/mashed potatoes alone, but they throw in a nice little chocolate cupcake and a forgettable salad to boot. This place is a must in January.
The food does not measure up to the super high prices. The chicken was tough and a restaurant like Pakwan where you can get a good chicken dish for under $ 10 had much better chicken than your place. The chocolate cake dessert with ice cream..the cake was very dry. The only part of our meal that was really nice was the salad. The steak was OK but not for the price.
We ordered the Dine About Town menu which included a 6-oz filet that was absolutely out of this world! Great food, very courteous service. We have been to Ruth Chris' in other cities and the San Francisco location did not disappoint.
They seem to have cut back on their offerings for the Dine About time. Only two sides (creamed spinach or mashed potatoes) Otherwise, the steaks are outstanding, as usual. This is the only chain restaurant that I go to.
As stated all was very good. although, we were surprised that such a high level estabishment would use cafeteria style plates to serve top quality food. We found this very odd.
Food and service did not diappoint. However, we had a very long wait, almost 45 minutes, for our table. Since we arrived about 15 minutes early, that was a one hour wait until we got our table.
We went to Ruth's Chris for the Dine About Town promotion. It's an amazing deal and they do have some great options, including the petite filet, on the special menu. My huband chose to upgrade to the rib-eye for an additional $15, and it was still worth it. Both steaks were amazing, and we each received a salad, one side (we shared) and one dessert. We were both stuffed by the end and took home leftovers. I would recommend this restaurant, especially for Dine About Town, to anyone. Our waitress was also quite friendly and she offered to bring out the Dine About Town menu, rather than making us feel bad and asking for it. She treated us great throughout the meal.
