We only selected Ruth's because our normal go to HOPR did not have any availability. Start with the service. Very slow, and not very attentive, and just not the level of SVC i'm used to when coming to SF. Then the food came out... Lobster was good, but the Rib-eye was a very low quality cut, and was overcooked... not good flavor...especially at $67 (with Lobster) . I rarely do reviews, but ... sorry had to. My other business Assoc ordered the Filet, and the other was a Vegan, and you weren't quite prepared for a Vegan to show up. Not sure about coming back.. spent nearly $600 for 4, and bad value..

I celebrated my friend's Birthday here, who does not like fancy, foofy, stuck-up places, but enjoys good quality food. This was just the right spot! Excellent filet mignon and not just one, but two huge lobster tails on their surf-n-turf plate! Also, they went all out for us and made the day even more special by decorating the table and bringing out complementary dessert with a candle to make a wish. I give them 5+ stars for such a nice touch, great food and special care.

As usual, the food was delicious and done just right. The special menu was also slightly more economical than ala carte. Not a place we go to economize though.

Ruth's is often on our list for special occasions, and this time, it was good, but not great. The service was outstanding like usual, and I love their Ruth's Classics menu (makes it easy). The filet was pretty flat and misshapen, and the flavor just wasn't what it usually is. It just seemed like they are cutting corners on the meat, but maybe it was just an odd couple of steaks we had. The bread was better than it's been in the past, and the sides were really tasty, like usual. She let us upgrade to the white chocolate bread pudding since it was our anniversary, and while a very nice gesture, the dessert was not good at all. If you're a lover of bread pudding, give this one a miss. They could really use some improvements in their dessert menu. It started in New Orleans, so how about a bourbon pecan pie?
