Ruth's Chris Steak House - San Francisco Ratings and Reviews
I had the surf and turf. It was very good. It came with two lobsters and a good size fillet mignon. Lobsters were very tender and the steak melts in your mouth. I also ordered a side of veggie and it was tasty, as well. It was my birthday and they served desserts for me and my family. It was a great experience for me and my family. One thing... don't be late. Everyone must be present before they can seat you. Bad traffic held up 3 people from my group and I was warned that they would cancel my reservation if we weren't all checked-in within 20 mins. I got very stressed thinking we would have to find another restaurant for our dinner. However, they were nice enough to keep my reservation and seated the 4 of us while we waited for the other 3. Besides the stress before sitting, overall experience was great.
I like the old school feel of the place. The bone in fillet was melt in your amazing and the hash browns were out of this world. You only need 1 side though. The Brussel sprouts were t that good and didn’t travel well. Highly recommend when you have money to spend.
This was my first time at this location. Overall everything was amazing. I ordered the tomahawk ribeye...40oz... not for the faint of heart. One of the best steaks I've had. Along with that we got the lamb chops and brussel sprouts with bacon and a touch of honey. Both i would recommend. Everything from the food to the service was on point. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Ruth's Chris. We both were wished a happy anniversary by everyone! Our table was decorated for the occasion with rose petals, candle light -it was perfect. The restaurant served one of the best steaks we have ever had, if not the best. I recommend RC for special occasions, food, and its high-level of service.
When looking for a good steak house in San Francisco, this restaurant came up with pretty good reviews. What I wasn't prepared for, for me, was it was quite formal. What I mean by this, in my opinion, you would visit if it was a special occasion. As it is quite expensive. That aside, my husband & daughter chose the porterhouse steaks. This was cooked to perfection. they said was one of the best they have eaten on our visit to the states. As usual, they chose the fries, again a big portion, which we could not even manage between 3 of us. We had a side of asparagus and requested they were not cooked in garlic. The service was attentive, but not overbearing. When the wine we chose was unavailable, he actually chose a wine that was cheaper. Would definitely visit again.
I am a big fan or Ruth's Chris generally and have been to many around the country. However, my experience in SF was extremely disappointing. While the food was good, not great, the service was terrible. We had the misfortune of sitting next to a table of about 16-20 people who seemed to take all the attention away from the other tables including ours. We waited over 20 minutes to get someone's attention to order dessert, with our empty plates sitting all the while, then decided to just get the check and by 30 minutes, we got up to pay at the door. The manager on duty however was fantastic!! He went out of his way to apologize and recognized that what we experienced was not how anyone dining at Ruth's Chris should be treated. He ended up taking some charges from our bill and he recovered well on behalf of the staff. Unfortunately, I will not be rushing back to this location.
Great food. Wonderful service, We have celebrated a couple of birthdays at Ruth's Christ's restaurant. The special birthday person always receives terrific treatment and service,,,,,,,,a free dessert , plus added decor on the table. A very popular place in San Francisco. It is always a delight and a pleasure to return to Ruth's Chris Steak House.
Service not up to par for the level of the restaurant. Cocktails ridiculously overpriced. 17.50 for a cosmopolitan. Not any real special ingredient(s) in that. Literally leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Most likely will not return. Too many other good restaurant choices in the area.
very friendly server and attentive to our needs. checked on us over 4-5 times while we had our meals. we all had the 16oz rib eye steak. it was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. the carrot ginger soup is a hit. the calamari is tasty with just the right amount of seasoning & red bell peppers but more on the oily side. my girlfriend celebrated her bday and the server included her dessert as complimentary - no add'tl charge. very kind and quick to explain and answer our questions - he was never rushed. this was my first visit and i'm definitely coming back!
I am a steak lover. I go to many steak restaurant. My friend and I went there for birthday. I wish we have chosen a different place.
Cesar salad- old, too much dressing
Server - way too fast.
Potato - raw in the middle - not fit to eat. I did not complain.
Steak - tasty - but I wish they gave us a little more time for us to enjoy appetizer and drink.
We felt rushed for the whole time.
Took my son here for his birthday. First time for both of us at this chain. I knew that it would be expensive, but $200 for a very modest meal just isn't worth it. The steaks were okay, but not amazing. The sides weren't very special. Baked potato wasn't even cooked well. Mushy and had clearly been overcooked. Our waiter neglected us at times (had to ask for water twice). I think others were there for their birthdays, and they seemed to get some special treatment, but none for my son. They sat us in a weird spot, too. Overall, a huge disappointment. I won't be going back to Ruth's Chris again.
Waiter may have been new. Took a long time to come take our order. Wine glasses were not removed. Entrees came while still eating salad even though we did not eat slowly. Had to rush through rest of salad. When dessert came, no utensils were given. Waited for attention of waiter who was busy then disappeared. Had to steal utensils from an empty table. Waiter came back with spoons, but after we had waited for a while with melting ice cream and had already taken the aforementioned neighboring utensils.
Noise was unbearably loud. Could barely hear my wife. There were two large parties that got louder as dinner went on. Towards end of meal, three guys joined one of the groups but did not sit down. They were blocking walkways, standing close to our table, generally walking about and taking up space. They were also pretty ghetto with t-shirts and sagging pants while cussing loudly.
Overall, a pretty crappy experience for a nice steakhouse. I've been here many times, but I probably won't be going back after tonight. Oh, well. I'll miss the ribeye steak, but there are plenty of other restaurants in the Bay Area.
The ambiance is elegant but not pretentious. The attentiveness of the staff is top notch! We were well taken care of.nGreat food! I ordered the Tomahawk steak (I've always wanted to try) = delicious! And I served the leftover for lunch and dinner the next day. The red rose petals sprinkled on the white linens, very nice touch and made for a memorable 22nd wedding anniversary! Thank you!
Ruth's Chris prepares exceptional steaks prepared exactly to order with excellent flavor and quality of meat. The steak I ate (the ribeye) was some of the best meat I have ever eaten. Every member of my party of 3 was very satisfied with the quality, taste, and cut of the meat (including a filet) which was reported to me as being excellent.
The drawback with Ruth's Chris is that although the food was all very good, including sides, salads and appetizers, everything is served upon a-la-carte individually or to share between 2 people. Nothing is included with the price of the meat which in all cases was at least $50 or more. Therefore, to have a full meal, including salads, sides, desserts and appetizers and a bottle of wine for 3 people the final cost came to over $90 per person without tip.
That cost does not compare favorably to other fine dining establishments such as The House of Prime Rib which usually costs less than $75 per person since salad, creamed spinach, corn bread (sometimes), Yorkshire pudding, mash potatoes and gravy are all included in the price. Only the wine and dessert would be extra costs.
On the good side, service was excellent and staff was very attentive to our needs.
