Ruth's Chris Steak House - San Francisco
Ruth's Chris Is one of our favorite restaurants! We chose to have our five year anniversary dinner here because of that! This was one of the worst I need experiences I've ever had. The service was awful, the food was burnt, the prices are high, They were overbooked and understaffed we ended up walking out without dinner after only having appetizers! Made for a very disappointing anniversary night
The food is always great. The service is always great. We love the food and cocktails. The last few times we have been there it seems like a different group of people. Maybe they need to start implementing a stricter dress policy, no sweats, hats, etc. Other than that, great
Food was alright.
Waiter was totally unattentive during the meal. Ordered wine...he brought it to the table in a bucket unopened and left. We finally opened the bottle. Had the Ruth's Chris Classic meal which consisted of a filet, side and desert ($65.00). Steak was not up to Ruth's Chris standards. This was serve to us by the manager. Have no idea what happened to the server.
Food was good but was very noisy
Thank you guys for the everything!
Sadly, this Ruth's Chris is nowhere near worth the prices charged and the service provided. Second visit in a year and will be the last. While the steaks (2 NY and 2 Filet) were properly cooked and met expectations, it ended there. Side of creamed spinach, loaded baked potato, grilled asparagus, and au gratin potatoes were nothing or premium grade. The server, while polite and somewhat attentive, was not in the peak of health. There was a 20+ minute gap between dinner being cleared and desserts brought to the table. Management, while clearly visible, only came to the table once in a "drive by" manner. Other tables seemed to appear more important to her. Wish the review could be better, but this once terrific restaurant has seen better days.
This was our 2nd time coming for Mother's Day. My Mom and I both ordered medium well rib eye steaks and hers was too done so they gave her another and it was tougher. My Mom ordered 2 white Russians and they didn't have enough Kailua so they put in another shot which made it bettwr. My 9 year old son wanted salmon grilled and if that wasn't available then we could opt for stuffed chicken, thankfully the chef was able to grill it. He asked for lemon numerous times but it never came. There was dust on the side wall platform. Arturo was a little forgetful but nice.
Awesome!! The staff and manager was awesome!!!
Food was amazing. Service was outstanding. Will definitely dine here again and again.
Probably the worst experience I have ever had. The hostess gave me a call @ 8:56 telling me that the restaurant closed at 9:30 which was something I was aware of. I told her we were up the street, but it’s like she didn’t want us to come in. “Uh, okay. We close at 9:30.” Is not a way to talk to a guest. The tone, rudeness and assertiveness I received on the call was not pleasant at all. If the dining place closes at 9:30 open table should not have the availability for a table at that time or even at 9:15pm. My reservation was at 9:15pm to clarify and I was arriving at 9:00. I was arriving 30 minutes prior to the dining room closing. It was very upsetting when we arrived to the restaurant, that we ended up leaving.
Everything was marvelous and outstanding overall at 10 across the board and a wonderful unforgettable experience thank you to our waiter Tony who really helped contribute and to make our night the best
This is my first time dining at this location. I enjoyed the ambiance, service and the food was aesthetically pleasing. Why did I have instant digestion issues? It could've been the creamed spinach or the overly used sweet jalapeño salsa on almost everything we ordered! I think you should stay away from the roasted corn and crab stack. The lobster mac & cheese even had bits of that jalapeño too. Not a fan! It was supposed to be an enjoyable early Mother's Day dinner, but I left feeling cheated and disappointed. I wish I had dined at another steakhouse a couple of blocks up. I'm not sure if I'll be returning.
Rude about me wearing leggings . Said that they called me personally I never got a call never talk to anyone on the phone .
There are other more unique restaurants in the city to spend that kind of money at.
Very disappointed ! We had to wait for a long time for our bottle of wine and at the end they charged 20$ extra “by mistake” !!!!!!
wonderful food and very attentive service. surf and turf is a fantastic deal.
The food is always great. I prefer sitting in their chairs rather than booths because the tables in the booths are placed so your feet are uncomfortable and the back rests are too far back so you can’t sit comfortably.
Excellence is the Ruth's Chris brand. We found everything up to that standard. Amazing food done right.
My wife took me to this location for my birthday and it was a great experience. The staff was very attentive and performed their duties in a professional manner. And the food was excellent! I would recommend this location as place to dine.
The restaurant called us ahead of our reservation to confirm we know the dress policy.. no shorts and sandals etc.. I think if a restaurant cares about that then they shouldn’t duck tape the ripped off seats. Have a clean bathroom.
This restaurant doesn’t deserve one start. Too expensive for the bland food they serve and the lack of service by our server Chris was just unacceptable. The busboy Juan served us more than our actual server.. Chris just came to our table with his snobby attitude and memorized boring speech about how special the restaurant is and left. Would never go here again and would never recommend anyone go here.
Lastly, a steakhouse should know how to cook a steak. We specifically ordered steak because we were in a steakhouse and I put better grill marks on my steaks at home and they taste 10 times better.
Our server Monteisha was great!!! She takes customer service to a different level!!’ Manager material!!!
Food and service were outstanding. My dad and I have this thing where we try different restaurants trying to find the best filet mignon in the area. I ate at Ruth’s Chris once long ago and remembered the filet being excellent so I have been wanting to bring him here for a while. We came for lunch on Easter Sunday. It did not disappoint and everything was actually better than I remembered. We both agree hands down this is the best filet you can get in the Bay Area. And possibly the best service too.
I’ve been to Ruth Chris a good 30-40 times in the last decade. This was the first time I ever had an issue. Everyone there was nice as always but they completely botched our foot. They brought the sides out 20
Minutes after the entree and they forgot half the entree I ordered. I also wanted a lobster tail and they forgot that. The steaks initially came out with butter on them(we had ordered no butter) so they took them back and brought back other steaks with no butter. The appetizers were and and on time but every single other item had an issue or came later than it should have- or not at all. I am considering finding a new steakhouse and it pains me to say this:(
A rare off-night for Ruth's Chris. We've dined there many times and only twice had a less than excellent time. This was one of them. The steaks were way underdone - I had to rapidly slice the filet so I could finish cooking on my plate. The aspargus was barely cooked - not close to even al dente. 1-2 other mistakes. The server actively worked to rectify them and volunteered to comp several items. As usual service gets 5 stars. Stuff happens, but he owned it and took care of us. Because of that, and the excellent meals otherwise, we will be back.
We've been to Ruth Chris restaurants in many cities and the food is always good, and the service/ambiance is always exceptional. We didn't find that to be the case at the San Fran restaurant. The food was good as expected, but in this instance we did not have the normal good service/ambiance that we are used to at Ruth Chris. First, we went early for dinner (5:30PM) and the restaurant was almost empty. Yet the staff seated us in a very crowded corner right next to a very loud group and jammed in between two other couples. So close that my wife could not get up with out asking another customer to please move their seat. Secondly, my wife ordered a "steak salad" assuming that it would have some steak on it. But no, just plain lettuce/greens with no meat. We asked if we could get some steak or even a chicken breast added (at our cost), but were told this was not possible. Really? The manager did come over and apologize and offered to buy us a desert. We did order a desert (which was delicious), but when the bill came we were charged for it. For us it's not about the money, so we paid the bill, including the desert. For us it's about an enjoyable dining experience with great service, great ambiance, and no stress. Not this time.
Best birthday dinner ever my son said!! from the moment you walk in it feels magical or that was how good my family and I were treated. Every question explain and each of us got the perfect steak. Our waiter was amazing tending to us and making us feel right at home. Our food was cooked to perfection for each of our tastes. The Lemon drops are to die for!!
I still love Ruths Chris. We just had really bad service. We ordered water 3 times. Our booth was ripped. I ordered a baked potato and it came with broccoli that was never ordered. The steaks were good. I had a 3 course dinner and had to ask twice for my dessert. I finally decided to take it home in a to go box. Everyone at the table were talking about the sharp decline in service. The food was good. Sorry
Ruth's Chris steaks used to be consistent, regardless of location/staff. It's been hit or miss the past few years. This recent visit in San Francisco was a huge miss. Steaks were terribly undercooked, lacked its legendary, savory flavors and were not served hot/sizzling. I still crave a good Ruth's Chris steak often - I just never know which steak experience I'll get. I'm sure at some point, I'll tire of the inconsistency and stop going.
Worst service I have ever had at a Ruth’s Chris restaurant. I’m doubting I ever go again.
The is always amazing. The waitress messed up
On the order a couple times.
Anniversary. They set up the table with Rose petals and made sure to wish us a happy Anniversary.
Anniversary dinner food was great and the service was awesome.
I highly recommend the sweet potato casserole.
This is our family's favorite restaurant for celebrating a special event. We were celebrating that my daughter got a job offer. I love that the waiver (who was wonderful by the way) asked if we were celebrating anything and since we were, offered by daughter a special dessert from the menu. My son loves the Cesar salad and looks forward to it as much as the steak. We will continue to come back and celebrate our family's milestones!
Took my girlfriend out to dinner. She loved every bit of the restaurant.
We have eaten at this location many times. We always enjoy ourselves. The food and service are both amazing.
Very happy there was an immediate available reservation for us at 8:30pm. Hostess & server was very friendly. Server was attentive to when we needed a pop or wine refill. Wish server would’ve mentioned the ala carte potatoes was enough for all of us and suggested to try other side dishes. We had 3 orders of mash potatoes. My scallops were on the dry side but still edible. Everyone’s steak orders were perfect!
The quality of the food is always consistent which is always very much appreciated. The service was very good and drinks delivered!
We have dined at this location many times and have always left pleased with the food and service.
Good food great service love this place 👌
