Classic family favorite that never disappoints. Thank you Montasia and Sean for making another family birthday memorable.

Friendly reception and waitstaff. Excellent pacing for a relaxed fine dining experience.
Thanks for the great review! We appreciate it. Hope to welcome you back again soon!
We had to move tables because they put us by the bus station- people who sat after us got drinks and ordered - we moved - the food was greasy and not good- fries were undercooked and full of seasoning- steak was fatty and chewy- do NOT go there!
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. This is certainly not how we wanted your visit to go. We'd like to learn more -- please consider sending us your contact information, including a phone number to that we can reach out to you directly. Thank you!
Ruth's Chris in SF never disappoints. I've been going there on and off for years and it is my go to for a fantastic filet, fully loaded baked potato, asparagus, great wine and excellent bar drinks. We had a fabulous dinner, preceded by a great bar experience (shout out to the excellent bar manager). First rate!
Great experience, the service was impeccable.
I love the food. This my first visit to this location in 11 years. I was disappointed at how crowded it is now. There are so many tables that it no longer feels as intimate as it once did. On my last visit to the Walnut Creek location it wasn’t crowded so why is it in SF?
Good news and bad news, good news first: Dinner was festive (19 year old goddaughter birthday) and we were able to get a Saturday reservation with only ten days notice!!! (unlike our first and second choices...which needed almost months...). And the sauteed arugula that came with the ravioli was really delicious. And goddaughter enjoyed multiple "shirley temple' refills and a free dessert. The rest of our food was not very good (ravioli, mash potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, shrimp, caesar...steaks were good) but I saw some dishes go by that looked more promising and that I would try next time: Wedge salad, lobster mac n cheese, brussels sprouts, baked potatoes. ) My 'medium rare' steak arrived way too (bloody) rare and when I sent it back it returned overcooked. But I knew that Ruth Chris knows how to cook a steak from a previous visit and from my goddaughter's which arrived a perfect medium rare. So I asked them to fix it and they started all over again with a new steak and this time it arrived - eventually - medium rare! Our waiter was great as were the hosts, etc. So I give it four stars not for the food but because we had a cozy booth and a very pleasant and festive evening including a birthday desert for less than $200. And we loved the diversity of the diners around us .For me it was an expensive night out ! But this is San Francisco so I don't expect more value.
Booth was uncomfortable. Too small for long legs!
excellent service, food was ok but a bit disappointed due to previous experience
The food was great. Cooked perfectly. Wait times were very good.
The food was wonderful. But the table was very uncomfortable for 4 of us. Of course, I am a large guy and that does not help. :-)
The restaurant is dated. Very ugly rugs and decor. Biggest yet, for the price and the upscale experience they are trying to convey, there are some serious downscale chain restaurant cues... like when you walk in there are big posters with price promotions. Not what a restaurant that has $50-60 entrees on the menu should be doing. Tacky AF. The steak though, is delicious. Everything else on the menu is just a sodium bomb.
Took my buddy here for his birthday. It was an excellent choice. Our meal was fantastic. I had the petite rib eye that mouth watering delicious. My buddy had the bone in filet. Both of which were rare and so tender!!! I will definitely be coming back here.
Ruth’s Chris restaurant is always a go to for us in every city we travel to, that has one. Love how the plate continues to sizzle even while you take your first bites. Waiters are always top of the line and always make you feel like you are their most important customer of the night. Yup you will put on some calories, but we think that is part of a special night out.
My steak has always been cooked right, however, in my last visit, all vegetables were super oily, service was subpar (had to waive for service a couple of times, had to ask staff to clean our table first as they were placing dessert menus on top of dollops of sauce and crumbs that had been spilled from plates), furniture and carpet needs updating....Overall, I will come back but the place is in need of renovations, and staff needs to be better trained.
About the same as a Longhorn steakhouse as far as the quality of food us concerned. I actually prefer Longhorns.
Everything was amazing
I love Ruth Chris steakhouse. The one in sf is really nice. Walnut Creek is good to just more casual. It was Friday night so it was pretty busy. We had no wait since we had reservations. We were sat between two other tables and the tables are a bit close, so your basically listening to other ppls convo at times. Also we had mentioned that we had a bday that night but there was no bday table set up. The waiter was awesome and did offer dessert. The food was amazing. I got my usual. The stuffed chicken breast. I could literally eat it everyday. Everything else was great! Try the barbecue shrimp they are to die for.
Food is amazing steak was so juicy and tender except service we were in the middle of other two couples they sat after us but get the food first literally they were finishing their food when we get ours.
This was my first time at Ruth's Chris Steak House. The food was great as well as the staff. I plan to go back again.
We've been to the restaurant a few times. Awesome food! Perfectly prepared steaks for the whole family - Rib Eye, New York, and Filet. Service was excellent; however, it is a pricey meal. 4 steaks, and sides, with a nice (and well earned tip) > $300.00. It's worth it for a special meal, and I highly recommend the restaurant. Just be aware of the price.
We had reservations for my boyfriend’s birthday at 8:00 p.m. We got there about ten minutes before our reservation. Not only did we wait a long time to be seated but we also had to sit at the bar area because according to the host, there would be a long wait for a table. The only thing that saved this experience was our fabulous waiter Jose and the food. What’s the purpose of making a reservation for a special occasion if we ended up by the bar?
It's a nice once off experience but wouldn't rush back. Ambiance was good, staff were so friendly & food was good although literally everything was dripping in butter so if you're watching your calorie intake maybe don't go here. Kind of over-priced in a way but I really enjoyed it and as i said, once off experience like an anniversary or birthday. Would highly recommend the white choc bread pudding. The fries & Filet were great but the Crab cakes were over-rated.
Excellent service and food. Temperature warmed up by the end of the dinner.
Food was great. Service is ok. Drinks comes out probably 15 minutes after we placed the order. The only thing that turns me off is the restroom. Toilet bowl was dirty. Looks like it wasn’t properly maintain. You guys might want to follow up or purchase a new toilet bowl. On a restaurant that is considered high end, i believed cleanliness could be better.
The steaks were fantastic and service was outstanding.
Absolutely lovely - we’ve been to some of the best steakhouses and restaurants, but this Ruth Chris truly was amazing. Highly recommend you go for one of the “Ruth Classics” that come with a starter, side, and dessert - what great value with amazing food! Highly recommended!
delicious fare - steaks to vegetables, everything was great
Lovely, delicious dinner, Ruth Chris never disappoints
Perfect dinner for our celebration! Thank you very much for making it so special!
Normally Ruth Chris is excellent, but for whatever reason the rib eye steak and the filet was tough and lacked flavor. It is overpriced for the lack of quality. The sides were overly seasoned. Disappointing potatoes au gratin with too much cheddar cheese and too much sauce. Service was excellent.
Came to celebrate my birthday with friends. Our food was almost inedible because of how bland and butter smothered it was. We only ate half of what came and that’s because we were starving. The restaurant was dirty, so loud and very dark. I haven’t had a similar experience at their other locations. Would NOT recommend Ruth’s Chris in SF.... at all.
Phillip our server was amazing. We will definitely be back.
We were disappointed that quality of food is lost. We used to come here a lot but this time around was very disappointing. Sadly, we will not come back anymore.
The best for food, ambience, service. Great date place or special occasion
Our waitress was attentive and friendly. She checked on us periodically but was not intrusive. The portions were correct.
This was a most anticipated night. Not since a dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse (Honolulu) last October had I attempted a steak of this size & quality due to a serious health issue. Unfortunately the experience left a lot to be desired.
We were taken to our table for our 7.30pm reservation only to find it uncleared after the previous diners. Escorted back to reception we waited a further 10 minutes for our table to be set. Having been served our pre-dinner cocktails, our server took our dinner order (appetizer + entree’s).
A few minutes later a different server brought our entree’s to the table. Confused and unsure we decided to forgo our appetizer and focus on the main meal. About 5 minutes later our original server approached our table with the appetizer that we no longer wanted.
The experience was a let down given the anticipation of the evening.
Excellent steak as usual. Very attentive staff. Excellent wine selection.
When HOPR is too booked up, head here! Good kids meals. Filet veggie milk $13
Our server Tasia was amazing!!!
