Ruth's Chris Steak House - Salt Lake City Ratings and Reviews
Generally consistent with all aspects of the national Ruth's Chris standards. Attentive service. Nice atmosphere. The only flat note came when the much-anticipated Ribeye arrived overcooked, despite a conversation with the server and assurance that Medium Rare would be delivered. You should expect (and receive) a high-end cut of meat to arrive consistent with the standards listed in the menu. On another night I would have made an issue or even sent it back...but this was not the night for that type of exchange. The disappointment drops a star from this rating.
Our steaks were perfection. The RibEye and Filet mignon were a perfect medium rare and you could soak up the salty melted butter in every bite. That being said, our potato au gratin was too simple and under cooked. The addition of any herb would have made it interesting. Bread and butter are nice complimentary appetizers but also, outdated. At least make the bread sourdough, or any other grain, to compliment the butter. Seeing doilies still being used is weird, and the wine selection was straight out of Utah's state liquor stores. I know that they are limited due to the DABC but it was disappointing to not find anything new or exceptional in that arena.
Been going to Ruths for a few years now. their service is hard to beat. however am noticing that each time that someone at our table gets a steak that was not cooked to order. and they are off by a couple levels. example, this past time my father ordered medium well, and it arrived medium rare, closer to rare.
They are quick to fix it and always always the manager comes over to apologize and make it right.
only complaint--the section we were in it was pretty cold. i dont usually mind, but it was actually quite bothersome. my wife and my mother in law both dined with their jackets on which is no way to spend an evnning eating a 50 dollar steak.
We will keep going to Ruths for the service and the steaks. I cannot find a Filet anywhere else that matches what they bring out on their sizzliny hot plate. Managers are welcoming, enviting and always aim to please and make us feel like we own the place.
This past experiece i had there, was the worst i have had there over the years and it still beats any other steak house by miles. The temperature of the room was the main culprate.
go to ruths. its worth the money.
The wait staff was very accommodating when one person in our party specified ally missed saying no dairy her steak though all other items she ordered were specifically noted. They replaced the steak even though we weren’t insisting. They were a bit forgetful with serving utensils, we had to ask three times and the small plates they served the steak on would not allow for the sides to be added to the same plate so there were many small dishes all over the table. However the food was up to Ruth’s Chris standards except for a very runny lobster Mac and cheese. Overall it was a good evening.
We went here for the first time and it was an amazing experience! It was easily the best steak I’ve ever had, if not the best meal I’ve ever had. Service was excellent and the dining experience overall was something we will always remember. We wanted to go back the very next day! And the dessert we took home extended our wonderful experience to later that night when we enjoyed it.
I have eaten at Ruth's Chris a number of times. And especially in the Salt Lake City restaurant it is always a wonderful dining experience. However, this time was an exception. The service was really slow. The food just okay.
I know this can happen so it won't deter me from coming back to SLC Ruth's Chris again, hopefully on a better night.
Delicious food, but wasn't our best experience there. Water glasses went low/empty too often, forgot important elements of the order (put shrimp on steak when we requested on the side because of allergies), remade steak came back under cooked, and we asked for bread and it was forgotten by 2 different people twice. We've had excellent experiences here in the past, but it just wasn't their night tonight. Left disappointed and when you pay that much for a meal it sours the experience for the next time.
I’ve always had a phenomenal dining experiences while here. I enjoy taking business meeting over dinner here especially. The ambiance is very intimate and inviting. The steak is outstanding. The lobster is a nice additional to any meal. The creme brûlée is the best in Utah.
We had a 5:15 reservation. When we arrived there were only two to three other parties seated; however, we were shown to a small two-seater table in the corner of a room at the back. We asked for a booth and after a trip back to the front for an OK we were shown to a booth. We ordered the before-6:30 special of appetizer, entrée, side and dessert for a reduced price (still $49.95!). My so-called prime filet mignon must have been an end-cut, as it consisted of gristle and connective tissue, and was uneatable. I pointed this out to our waiter and that was the last we saw of him until we finished and he brought the bill. I mentioned the steak to the manager and he graciously offered to replace it with a center cut - I refused, as by that time we had already made a meal from my wife's crab cakes and didn't want to start over on another steak. Nevertheless he insisted and brought a new steak which I again refused, and told him it should have been a decent piece of meat to begin with. I guess the "specials" get the end-cuts and the ala carte orders get the center-cuts. Never mind, we are not from SLC and will never return to this Ruth's, but will keep this in mind next time we go to a Ruth's.
