Ruth's Chris Steak House - River Walk Ratings and Reviews
Good breakfast buffet. Frustrating service. Three different servers asked me if a had a coupon or would it be a room charge. I told each of them room charge and yet at the end of my meal, when I needed to rush to my meeting, they brought me a check without a room charge option. I had to chase them down to get the correct bill so I could pay and get to my conference. Very frustrating that they were only available for asking me when I sat down how I was going to pay and then were hard to find to get coffee, water, or even the correct bill at the end. I would not go back if there were other breakfast options in the hotel.
The outdoor dining in San Antonio is lovely. Nathan our server was excellent. Very knowledgeable, made helpful recommendations and suggestions. Very professional and friendly. First time visit for my two sisters and brother-in-law. They were impressed with the food, service and atmosphere.
Too noisy , sub par food . Had to send back undercooked . Service was rushed . ( probably why our food was undercooked) Bathroom located in the hotel up the escalator away from restaurant . Just a bad experience all around - not the best experience for my clients as well .
Would never return to this Ruth's Chris . Poor service food not prepared or delivered properly. Eating plate did not allow for addition of sides. Overall the service was lacking the entire experience was horrible from start to finish. They will never compare to Vic & Anthony's.
We came in early for our reservation and my husband was taken to our table while I ran to the restroom. When I came back, there were a group of hostesses talking and chatting who didn’t acknowledge me standing there looking for my husband. Eventually a waiter passed and asked if I was being helped and interrupted the hostesses to help find where we were seated. Not a great first impression. I joined my husband and noticed the extra settings hadn’t been cleared and no one had watered us. In all, we waited 15-20 minutes without anyone greeting us, watering us, clearing the extra settings or even acknowledging we were there despite the tables around us getting service. A few waiters looked at us, but presumably decided we weren’t their table and kept going. For the price point at Ruth Chris, good service is expected. If the restaurant had been slammed, we would have been more patient, but there were plenty of empty tables and no one seemed to be deep in the weeds, of course I could be wrong. We ended up leaving without being served and walked past the talking hostesses on our way out without anyone noticing we were going. As for the restaurant, it’s not the nicest or most updated Ruth Chris I ever been to. It’s in a hotel, and some of the dining rooms definitely feel like hotel buffet rooms with no windows.
Great Thanksgiving dinner. The food was excellent and the drinks were outstanding. The only downside for our great meal was our waitress. With a large group of family and grandkids we were not served to the level that we are accustomed to at Ruth Chris. We we were left to ourselves too many times resulted in a poor flow in the meal. The food was a 10 and service a 4!
A little pricey, but the chicken breast was amazing. The food took a while to come out but it didn’t feel too long. But we were celebrating my birthday and there wasn’t much mention of that besides the hostess who sat us at our table wishing my a happy birthday. Other than that, the experience was pretty good.
Came to dinner downtown to wait for a friend who was coming into town. Ordered a bottle of wine and sat on the patio. Wine service was non-existent and waters were left empty until waiter was flagged down. The salad we ordered was forgotten and brought out with entrees, filet was over cooked to med well instead of mid rare. When the check came the bottle of wine was priced more than double what it was on the menu. The manager comped the salad and the filet and apologized. Had to bring the wine price descrepency to waiters attention to get it corrected. The only good thing about the night is that it wasn’t a special occasion that they ruined. I’ve never been to a restaurant of this level that has crashed and burned so badly.
We have been at Ruth's Chris at locations in CA and AZ and never been disappointed. At this location our cocktails were watered down. The salad was good. The steak was tender but did not have much flavor. The loaded baked potato was not loaded as at the other locations. Our waiter was excellent and service was great so no complaints there. The restaurant has no ambience. For the price we paid, it was a real disappointment.
The operator of this franchise needs to get better beef. Not Prime, tough, maybe had been frozen as it was not evenly cooked. They know better but they are cutting corners because the tourist traffic is not repeat traffic
Service and ambiance far better than the overpriced food
Ruth’s Chris steakhouse does a nice job. Everybody who goes there already knows the product.
Bottom line for this franchise of a national brand: service was dysfunctional. My appetizer and main course
Arrived at the same time, and I waited too long for the check.
Service was a bit lacking for a Rush's Chris and the price point. The restaurant wasn't prepared for the number of guests following a trade show at the convention center. We had reservations but most guests just showed up and were seated. We were seated quickly but after that service was slow. We weren't in a rush but had they brought our wine in a timely fashion it would not have mattered. They were out of the one we ordered and the waiter came back to us with no alternative offer. After I asked about it he then said he would go to the manager. Then it was another 10 mins. I finally got up to check on it and the manager finally appeared at the front desk with a substitution. Food was great and the staff was nice but just not prepared to handle a crowd (and it wasn't a large crowd).
We have been to 2 other Ruth's Chris Steakhouses and not been impressed. We thought that we might just try it one more time in a different location and see if it were all that it is hyped to be. We have friends that just lovt it and thought to try it again....UNIMPRESSIVE...still....Service was good...food was ok...definitely NOT the best steakhouse experience at all. Whoever owns this restaurant should try Delmonico's for excellent steak, delightful ambiance and true value for an exceptional meal then they should try to attain that level of food and service.
NOT going to another Ruth's....they are all disappointing.
We have dined at all 3 Ruth Chris SA locations and the quality of the steak and sides were not up to par......fell far short of expectations. I guess since we went during restaurant week and ordered from the "PreFixe" menu......we received an inferior cut from the RC quality prime steak that we were expecting. As other reviewers have stated, go for HH, not the steak. Go to Bohannon's steakhouse and get what you pay for.
We came for our anniversary...our first time to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. The location was great...directly across the street from our hotel, and right on the Riverwalk. We were greated with a smile upon entering and our waiter Bruce was excellent. He answered all our questions and went over the menu with us telling us how the salad was big enough to share, etc. They asked if we were celebrating a special occasion upon being seated and we said yes. After dinner, we were surprised with a beautiful apple streudel like dessert with ice cream and "congratulations" written in chocolate on the plate. It was delicious and very unexpected. Our food was wonderful...I had the lamb chops and my husband had the NY strip. His steak practically melted in his mouth and my lamb chops were very thick and tender. The sweet potato casserole was unbelievable...more like a dessert than a side dish. This was a great experience and we will definitely be back again!
