Ruth's Chris Steak House - River Walk Ratings and Reviews
Birthday dinner. I had called ahead to let restaurant know. We were told they would deco table and provide special dessert. Table was not done. Bone in Ribeye over cooked. Waiter did his best to try and get another steak out, however, rest of party was finished with their meal by time corrected steak came out. Awkward. We were not impressed.
Food was OK. Nothing special. Steak served before I had finished salad. Didn't see staff again. Sat for an hour with dirty dishes pushed aside and empty wine glass in front of me (I was reviewing work docs but obviously, at the bar, finished with the meal). I had to signal a waiter to get another glass of wine and more water. Had to ask busboy to send the manager out to get my bill despite the fact that I had stood up, put my coat on, and tapped my card on the bar. I certainly would not recommend.
My wife and had never been to a Ruth’s Chris before and had a gift card to try it out. We had an early dinner, so the restaurant was not busy at all. Our server, Dimas, was very prompt with everything and a very friendly person overall. The steaks, while expensive, were some of the most tender meat I have ever experienced. Seasoned with only salt, pepper, and butter, they needed no garish steak sauce to improve the flavor at all. The acorn squash bisque was nothing short of enchanting, and the sides of garlic roasted broccolini and wild mushroom couscous both left us wanting more, but alas, we still had dessert to come. The apple crumb cheesecake with vanilla ice cream was the perfect end to a perfect meal. While we can’t afford this for a regular meal, we will happily find a Ruth’s again for a special occasion.
Pedestrian - food was greasy. Service was initially attentive but after our order - our waiter was absent. He did not ask about coffee with dessert and we had to pour our own wine. Sub-par for a supposedly 5 star restaurant. Your sister restaurant in Seattle was amazing - in both food and service.
Superb staff from the very start. William was delightful and helpful with information about the restaurant and even the Riverwalk and downtown San Antonio, as well. Mary was professional and personable throughout the evening. The food was exceptional, and the portions were just right. Thank you for a memorable occasion.
My son's NY strip was too tough to enjoy despite being cooked medium rare. He barely ate any. The creme brulee was awful no vanilla bean and this terrible thick granulated crust. I ordered a Belvedere martini extra dirty With extra olives twice and both times it came back without any olive juice and only 2 olives. I was excited to take my son for the first time who loves steak and the two main things I wanted him to try the steak and Créme brulee were terrible. Well my steak was good but I got a filet. Very disappointing. I've been to many other locations and never had an experience like this.
Very disappointed. Planed a nice Christmas dinner with family and service was slow and unresponsive, food was not very good, Outback would have been better, and the bill was over $250. We should have eaten at Chili’s! Had thanksgiving dinner at the Ruth’s Chris in New Orleans and the food and service was fantastic. This owner needs to keep up with the franchise heritage.
This is a very expensive restaurant. One of our steaks was completely dry and not able to be eaten. It was not offered to replaced or lower the charge. The water for the glasses were never refilled until the end of the dinner after setting empty for most of the meal. The waiter was not present until the end of the meal. I expected better considering the price.
This was a first visit to any Ruth Chris steakhouse, and it was well worth it. The appetizers were superb. We got the Spicy Shrimp and the Seared Ahi Tuna. Both were absolutely delicious. I got the heirloom tomato salad which was good but I'm not a huge fan of a lot of balsamic vinegar so it wasn't my favorite. This was no fault of the restaurant. My husband and I split the cowboy ribeye and it was also superb. I had a fully loaded baked potato which was worth the extra side cost, and my husband had the creamed spinach which was also awesome. I finished with the creme brulee and again, it was the best! We sat at the bar and our bartenders were great. The female bartender made it a point to ask our names and use them when checking with us throughout the meal.
Ruths’ Chris is one of our favorite restaurants and we always enjoy meeting up with our friends at this location whenever in San Antonio Last night, however, was not up to par as were used to. The service was a little slow despite there being very few people in the place. The stuffed mushrooms were so very mediocre. I mentioned it to the server but t wasn’t even acknowledged. Normally, the manager will come and ask for more information but. It this time. Everything else was the usual top notch. Lobster Mac continues to be the best!
The food was good. I just wish it was what I ordered. I'm not one for fancy restaurants but I had a date here. So I didn't want to cause a seen. I got just chicken when I asked for steak and chicken. My sides got mixed up and my appetizer was wrong. The food was really good but way over priced. I've never seen mashed potatoes cost anywhere near 10$. Other then that It was a very nice place for a romantic type date.
Good breakfast buffet. Frustrating service. Three different servers asked me if a had a coupon or would it be a room charge. I told each of them room charge and yet at the end of my meal, when I needed to rush to my meeting, they brought me a check without a room charge option. I had to chase them down to get the correct bill so I could pay and get to my conference. Very frustrating that they were only available for asking me when I sat down how I was going to pay and then were hard to find to get coffee, water, or even the correct bill at the end. I would not go back if there were other breakfast options in the hotel.
The outdoor dining in San Antonio is lovely. Nathan our server was excellent. Very knowledgeable, made helpful recommendations and suggestions. Very professional and friendly. First time visit for my two sisters and brother-in-law. They were impressed with the food, service and atmosphere.
Too noisy , sub par food . Had to send back undercooked . Service was rushed . ( probably why our food was undercooked) Bathroom located in the hotel up the escalator away from restaurant . Just a bad experience all around - not the best experience for my clients as well .
Would never return to this Ruth's Chris . Poor service food not prepared or delivered properly. Eating plate did not allow for addition of sides. Overall the service was lacking the entire experience was horrible from start to finish. They will never compare to Vic & Anthony's.
We came in early for our reservation and my husband was taken to our table while I ran to the restroom. When I came back, there were a group of hostesses talking and chatting who didn’t acknowledge me standing there looking for my husband. Eventually a waiter passed and asked if I was being helped and interrupted the hostesses to help find where we were seated. Not a great first impression. I joined my husband and noticed the extra settings hadn’t been cleared and no one had watered us. In all, we waited 15-20 minutes without anyone greeting us, watering us, clearing the extra settings or even acknowledging we were there despite the tables around us getting service. A few waiters looked at us, but presumably decided we weren’t their table and kept going. For the price point at Ruth Chris, good service is expected. If the restaurant had been slammed, we would have been more patient, but there were plenty of empty tables and no one seemed to be deep in the weeds, of course I could be wrong. We ended up leaving without being served and walked past the talking hostesses on our way out without anyone noticing we were going. As for the restaurant, it’s not the nicest or most updated Ruth Chris I ever been to. It’s in a hotel, and some of the dining rooms definitely feel like hotel buffet rooms with no windows.
Great Thanksgiving dinner. The food was excellent and the drinks were outstanding. The only downside for our great meal was our waitress. With a large group of family and grandkids we were not served to the level that we are accustomed to at Ruth Chris. We we were left to ourselves too many times resulted in a poor flow in the meal. The food was a 10 and service a 4!
A little pricey, but the chicken breast was amazing. The food took a while to come out but it didn’t feel too long. But we were celebrating my birthday and there wasn’t much mention of that besides the hostess who sat us at our table wishing my a happy birthday. Other than that, the experience was pretty good.
