Ruth's Chris Steak House - Houston Ratings and Reviews
I was not impressed at all with the service or the food. Our waiter stopped by our table to introduce himself at the beginning and to bring the check. I ordered the crab cakes which contained several pieces of crab shell. I asked for a coke to wash down my food, but never received it. I am so sorry to provide such negative feedback, but I feel like I wasted a $130 on food I could have cooked at home.
We are not "those people" that expect everything to go perfectly when we dine out. We do expect that there are only minor items, and that they get addressed promptly and effectively. Our review is somewhat mixed on this. We first had to wait over 45 minutes past our reservation to get seated. The restaurant called us to confirm our reservation the day of reservation, but did not mind having us wait to be seated. Based on the number of guests also waiting, it appears that the restaurant was severely overbooked.
We also had a broken decanter for our wine, that was not noticed until it was too late. There was no more wine of that varietal, and by then our food had arrived, so the waitress offered us a glass each so we could enjoy with our meal. We learned later that she comped it- very thoughtful and appreciated.
The food was outstanding and everything else went as expected. Overall, I would go there again. But not if I had to wait that long.
To us, this is the only steakhouse in town at which we will dine. The reservations are always honored on a timely basis, the steaks not only are extremely tender and flavorful, but are always cooked as ordered the first time, the sides are fabulous, there are wines of every price (not just the high-end ones typical of most steakhouses), noise level is low, and tables are far enough apart to be able to carry on a conversation at your own table without hearing the neighboring table. Service is always great without feeling rushed.
We were put in a table that was set up in the back by dirty dishes. When we asked to be moved the hostess gave us another bad table. The original waiter saved the day. He gave us a wonderful table. The steak was good. The side dishes were just ok. The wedge salad tasted like water. Baked potato looked like it had been sitting for a while. I had always wanted to try this restaurant. I found it over priced for the value.
1st impression we are taken to a booth in which both fabric benches are thread bare. This is a fairly expensive restaurant, right? Was a little worried about that as a sign but food was delicious and waitress was amicable. She gave me the feel of an Outback Steak house waitress not a $50 a person steak restaurant but she supplied all the necessary accompliments to our meal. We will be back.
My personal opinion here, so if you enjoy Ruth Chris..great. Ruth Chris has a beautiful aesthetic and that is what you are paying for. The food itself was good but I felt the price is more so for the ambiance rather than the food. Ive had better steaks from Benihanas or STK in Atlanta.
This is a great place to take your date if you value a romantic setting more so than the food itself.
Don’t get me wrong, the food is by no means bad so just take what I said in mind.
We have never had a bad experience at this Ruth Chris restaurant. We’ve eaten at this restaurant on Christmas Day for the past two year and has never been disappointed with the food and the service. We will continue to make this our Christmas tradition and celebrate the special day at Ruth Chris.
We come every year for Christmas Eve. Mitchell our server was great- was not stuffy which sometimes can happen at nice steakhouses. Had reservation, but had to wait about 15 minutes, but drinks were served while we waited. Was a little loud until crowds thinned out. By far the best place for a perfect steak!
This was a family get together dinner, 10 of us total. I haven’t been here since moving to houston 12 years ago. The food was surprisingly better than what I remembered. I would come back for the food but the service was disappointing.
We ordered the seafood tower. There was no wet towels given to us after we were done eating with our hands. That was very disappointing to me. I have a certain expectation when I pay for places like this and that was upsetting to me.
Next, waitress rarely came by. I actually had to ask for dirty plates to be removed. I’ve never heard of that before. Usually higher end places like this do it without being told or asked.
We kept asking for our check so we could leave. One family member actually went to look for the waitress to ask for check, went out to smoke, came back in and was shocked that she still didn’t bring it.
I doubt it if I would come back.
We had a christmas company party at Pappasitos and they reminded me how excellent service was supposed to be like, with half the bill.
Our experience at Ruth Chris was outstanding. The atmosphere was relaxed and elegant. I ordered the Surf and Turf, and the fillet was tender and the 2 lobster tails were wonderful.
My husband ordered the NY Strip and it was equally as good. Next time, we plan to share a porterhouse steak.
Had a great waitress she then had a table of 10. My girlfriend waited 30 minutes for her drink I then waited 30 minutes for my glass of wine.
Our thoughts were to to enjoy a drink prior to ordering that did not happen.
Manager finally assisted our waitress and the food was perfect.
Manager did not charger us for our drinks. But we missed the opportunity to sit and enjoy a drink and our conversation after a long week.
We will try it again soon.
