To be honest, I went back to Ruth Cris because they participated in Portland Dining Week which became affordable to me. I will gladly return next year again, but overall I cannot afford to dine here often. I will say that the PDW meal for the price was excellent and I enjoyed it immensely. The server was very attentive considering I was dining alone.
My friend and I came here for her birthday we both ordered from the March Dining Month Menu which was a 3 course dinner, we ordered the 6oz steak. It was so tender and flavorful. I have been here many times for birthdays and it always a great experience.
Portland March dining
This was hands down the best restaurant that I have ever been to. It was pricey but I know that going in. The steaks were so tender and full of flavor and I have never had such great lobster. The service was amazing and they knew everything about the menu and how the food is prepared.
I definitely recommend that EVERYONE come check this place out at least once.
Went here for a company dinner , Absolute perfection.Amazing steak and atmosphere .
Went there for Portland dining month. Food was fantastic! Seemed like our server was expecting us to order wine and we don’t drink otherwise service was excellent☺️
We go to Ruth’s Chris every Portland dining month as a treat. This year, while the cut of meat was a little thinner, the taste was as expected- nicely done ( mine was more rare than I ordered, but delicious nonetheless). The one thing I haven’t enjoyed in my past 2 visits has been some of the clientele ( totally not Ruth’s Chris fault!)- there seemed to have been alot of alcohol involved with some of the tables nearby ( seemingly beforehand). We’ll return as we enjoyed going with friends for a nice meal. Our servers have always been fantastic, and this visit was no different.
My husband and I went to Ruth's Chris Steak house during Portland Dining Month. It was our anniversary and they made it very special with some nice touches (I'll let it be a surprise). My husband and I both chose the steak option and it was cooked just right and was DELICIOUS!! We'll be back.
Both the food and the service was excellent. Kenneth our server gave us some recommendations and they were fantastic.
The food and service were excellent. The staff very informative and friendly.
Had the "porterhouse for two" don't know if it could be any better....the hot plates keep everything warm...flavor of food and knowledge staff made for a very enjoyable evening.
I was less than impressed. I expected way more based on it's reputation and pricing. The meat definitely was good, but not enough to justify the prices they charge. The side dishes were uninspired.
Ruth's Chris is opulent without being stuffy, fancy without the fuss. A favorite indulgence before a show at The Schnitz, just an easy walk away. Friendly, welcoming, warm and genuine, an asset to PDX's food scene.
I remember the first time I tried a Ruth Chris' steak; it was amazing and tasted quite different from any other steak I'd eaten before. So I wanted my husband to try to it and he loved it!
First time and we will return. Food and service were great.
Our steak was excellent, as was the creamed spinach side dish. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the mashed potatoes, but there was also nothing special about them. The salad was fresh and well-served, but, again, there was nothing special about it. Service was excellent. Noise level started out rather high because of the music being played, but after it was turned down, the noise level was fine, except for a rather loud person at the next table.
We went for the Portland dining month special. The steak for that special was uninspiring. The cut of meat was great, but the seasoning and searing was lacking. Also, our kids medium well kids steak turned out to be medium rare. Good thing my wifes steak which was supposed to be medium rare turned out about medium to medium well. The mash potatoes was dry and bland. The creamed spinach was good. The desert was probably the best thing.
The filet was excellent. However the service was spotty. Our main waiter had to cover for requests made to other servers, such as our initial glasses of water, and later our drinks.
I think Ruth's Chris Petite Filet Steak is the best steak in Portland and I always look forward with great excitement when I know I am going to go. I have dined at RC's for March Dining Month before and don't remember that the food was as different from the regular non-dining month food as I noticed this time. My meal, $33 Prix Fix was a filet, while smaller which I am just fine with was 6 oz vs 8 oz, but it was quite thin and mine was unevenly cooked. It appeared that it had not been pre-seared, just oven cooked? The mashed potato side tasted like it had been prepared ahead of time. It was rather dry on the top and dense and cool inside, not airy and hot like they are normally. Our waiter was extremely business like, no hospitality at all and I felt like he just wanted to hurry us up so they could turn the table. I have had the gentleman before and I don't remember that he was quite so curt. Salad was delightful and desert just fine. I don't think I would pay $33 for this dinner again, would prefer to pay the normal cost for an outstanding dinner. If I were to judge Ruth's Chris food based on this last meal I would rate it mediocre.
My meetup group went for Portland Dining Month and it was fabulous! Best steak ever that melted in your mouth, outstanding service (I kind of expected to be treated like second class citizens due to being there for Portland Dining Month) and we were treated very well in spite of being kind of noisy and having a new group member not observing the dress code (which I had stressed in the meetup announcement). Everyone raved about the food and service and can't wait to go back
Portland dining month was the catalyst but we’ll be back!
Absolutely delicious strak we did the portland dining month food course .which was a 3 course meal which was $33 for salad a 8oz filet and desert ,out waiter was an amazing server that new this wines .me and my husband absolutely loved it and will come back
Service was excellent. We did the March Dine Out special. Food was very good for the "deal." For the expense of the regular menu, however, there are better steakhouse restaurants in Portland.
Our waitress was great and service was impeccable. We had the steak and it was amazing and served just right.
Excellent food and service. Reasonably priced cocktails for more expensive steakhouse. Fix priced menu options available.
Come every March for Portland Dining Month. As usual the food was excellent.
We came to Ruth Chris for my best friend’s birthday, and everything was great, from the food to the kind service! Once we got to our table, it had little confetti like pieces on the table that said “Happy Birthday” and some were shaped as presents. It truly was a fun and great experience for everyone.
My boyfriend and I went there for date night and got their early to have a drink in the bar. We found a great table. About 45 minutes later, we were seated for dinner, but the tables were packed in so tight, we felt like we were eating with everyone. Not very romantic, and would probably rather stayed in the bar (not very romantic either)
Our experience having dinner during the special March promotion was absolutely wonderful. The food was just perfect and the right amount. The service was great too.
We will certainly be back.
Great food, service was a little slow.
Fantastic service, incredible food.
Steak is so delicious, service is good too
We went on Saturday night during Portland Dining Month. Our waiter was pushy and dismissive. Our total dining experience lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes . The meal itself was excellent, but we would not go back.
Wonderful Experience! Looking forward to going back soon!
We came for a Bachelor party.
Our waiter Rolando (I don't recall his name properly) be Brandi were amazing and very accommodating
Everything about our experience at this restaurant was phenomenal. The absolute best steak I've ever had!
We had a great time and dinner was good. Wasn’t too crazy about the cheese cake dessert. Tasted almost stale, but everything else was great. Won’t stop me from going there again. The steak and salmon was delicious. Just need to work on the dessert.
The food was excellent and the service was great.
Their cocktails are wonderful. I highly recommend it as a food destination.
Some real pluses but disappointed that (a) for whatever reason wouldn't give us the window seat that was empty and (b) the first two wines by the glass I ordered were unavailable ($15-$17 per) - server felt bad/embarrassed
Very good dinner and night out, excellent service and great drinks (too good!) Got our reservation switched to an earlier time they were good about fulfilling our request as we wanted an earlier slot if someone cancelled
