Excellent service. Very knowledgable staff. Able to accommodate my dietary needs.
We go to a Ruth's Chris whenever we travel if there is one in town. This was the worst Filet we have ever had. It was not tender as a Filet should be. We go to a Ruth's Chris at least once a week when we are in FL and have always had a good meal. Not sure what happen at this one. We did address our concerns with the Manager and he said he would relay to the Chef and supplier. The service we received by Katie was excellent. She is a top notch and a keeper!
Great steaks. Enjoyed calamari to start and a perfectly grilled filet and asparagus.
Consistently great food, service and value, probably one of the best steakhouse with great seafood selections as well, in Portland.
Raul provided us with amazing service. Everything was cooked perfectly and the overall experience was excellent. Highly exceeded our expectations. We will definitely go back and hope to have Raul as our server once again!
We had a wonderful and knowledgeable server from Italy who was very sweet and held a great conversation. I had the petite fillet and my husband had the petite ribeye, both were done to perfection. Only thing I would suggest is to ask for a separate plate to put the steak on to so it doesn’t continue to cook while you are enjoying it.
Food was excellent, as always. Our server, Jim, was outstanding.
Typical steak house chain that you can find across the country. However, I just love these steaks. They use excellent cut of steaks and the dry again ensures when you get a steak medium rare, it comes red but little to no blood. Sizzle that butter in the 500-degree plate and the steak is wonderful. Great sides as well. You will pay for this type of steakhouse, but the food and the service is excellent. Will be back...again here or another location across the country!
Always a favorite place for serious steak and seafood! Loved the service Mary was funny and served us well!
The quality of food and service can’t be beat! I won’t mention the other steakhouse across the street hat has taken a nose dive in quality of food. I can’t wait to return!
Steak was fire. 🔥🤪 lol
They were very good about setting up the table with proper decorations (in our case it was an anniversary). They were very polite and showed us to our table right away. Unfortunately, my wife had to brush off crumbs of her seat, I would have thunk they would have done that when cleaning the tables. Secondly, I would have thought the greeter would have helped my wife brush off the crumbs rather than waiting for my wife to finish brushing off the crumbs. The waiter was great and very attentive. We both ordered the cucumber and tomato salad, but the salad came without cucumbers. The salad dressing was great and it was very tasteful. The steaks were cook correctly and it was delicious. The garlic mashed potato seem to lack punch, maybe a bit more garlic would have helped. Strawberry shortcake was sweet and delicious. No issues with our check.

Great overall, just disappointed in the lighting when the sunlight went down. Went a little too dark for my liking.
Food was very good as always. The service was stellar. That is part of the reason we keep going back.
Went here for dinner before a show. Food was great as usual. Service was great. We love coming here. It is consistent.
1. Lobster Mash came out cold. 2. Medium Temp Steak came out rare. 3. Empty glasses not removed from table.
The worse thing: kitchen doesn't know how to prepare a steak....they took back my rare steak to get it to the right temp. When they brought it back out, the temp was correct BUT they forgot to account for the 5 minute rest time...as a result by the time i started to eat the steak it was well done (grey on the inside). These are fundamentals. Get a new chef.
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. This is certainly not how we wanted your visit to go. Please consider sending us your contact information, including a phone number so that we can reach out to you directly. Thank you!
Excellent meal but really poor service. Also, although the restaurant has a posted dress code, it isn’t enforced so that in spite of the fine dining label, far too many patrons looked dressed for the beach. Overall a disappointment.
Thank you for your candid review. Please rest assured that in this Ruth's Chris, as well as all others, our intention is to provide the highest and finest quality with regard to both food and service, not to mention hospitality - much like Ruth would have done herself. Always reliable, professional staff and high quality meals.
Great time with even better food! We will be going back.
I was very disappointed in dinner. First of all, drinks were SO EXPENSIVE ... 2 drinks were 1/3 of our bill. Really, $35 for a glass of wine????? $25 for a double well drink!?! Second, I ordered the 'meal special', when I said I wanted the cauliflower for the side dish, I was told "we are sold out of cauliflower", seriously our dinner reservation was at 630pm on a friday night?!???? I asked for asperagus instead and was told I would have to pay extra for that? Really? Like your prices aren't high enough, you couldn't of offered me a side for FREE, which should have been offered as a substitute when you are out of something. I will never go back again ... food was just ok ... nothing spectacular, especially for what we paid. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!
We were in Portland for a conference at the Downtown Hilton. Ruth Chris is right across the street. We are from Louisiana, and dine at Ruth Chris whenever we have an opportunity. The Portland location did not disappoint. Great food and friendly staff.
Great food & wonderful service. Always a romantic location.
They remembered my instructions in the initial reservation note for a decorated table and brought out cake and ice cream for my husband. It was his 30th bday. Food was amazing
As usual it was outstanding. Not always sure it’s quite worth the money that is charged. But always enjoy the experience.
Ruth's Chris is constant and you receive what you expect, great beef and excellent service. The three in our party ordered filet's served on the traditional hot, hot plate simmering in butter... oh so good. Potatoes Au gratin , toasted brown as requested and young asparagus were complements to our dinner. I'm gland fine wine is offered by the glass. Deserts and coffee were a nice indulgence completing dinner. If fine beef is your thing I recommend Ruth's highly.
First, Ruth Chris is one of our favorite steakhouses. We go 5-6 times a year. Night before last was a unfortunate aberration. The appetizer shrimp cocktail was delivered with translucent, raw shrimp. I was told they are “made to our specs.” I rejected that and asked for them to be made properly. 5-6 minutes later a steaming set of translucent shrimp were brought to our table. Again I rejected them. I told the server, “RC has its roots in Louisiana, my mother grew up in Louisiana and I have made many trips to Louisiana. These are not properly made. I cancelled them and awaited out 40oz. tomahawk rib eye. Out came a 22oz. cowboy size rib eye. They offered to get it right. I thought about the time involved in recooking a 40oz. steak and just agreed to keeping the smaller steak. Our sides were comped, but the damage my birthday dinner was already made!
I was entertaining a friend and could not have been more pleased with the evening. The service was impeccable and I’m just so sorry that I can’t recall the name of our primary server and his associates. I’d give more than five stars if I could.
Food was very good 👌😋 wait staff kind informative ... Giacomo was great waiter
This Ruth’s Chris was good, especially because of the service, generous pour, and quality of the food preparation. However, the ambiance and noise level were not up to my expectations based on other experiences at other Ruth’s Chris restaurants.
Had a fabulous dinner. Always happy to visit this location when we travel to Portland.
Waiter forgot we were there for a birthday so the birthday person didn't candle with desert. But was a good experience and the steaks are the best!
Always satisfied with our meal! Never disappointed with the service, and the meat just melts like butter!!!
The staff was great. I mistakenly shorted the reservation by one person and although it was a busy period, the hostess quickly made some seating adjustments. The waiter, Justin, was completely professional without being stuffy and personable without hovering and being overly talkative. He made great recommendations on food and didn't just pick the most expensive items on the menu. The food arrived quickly and was cooked perfectly. The steaks lived up to the Ruth's Chris reputation and the sweet potato casserole was fantastic but should seriously be listed on the dessert menu.
Ruth Chris is our go to Steak House in Portland. Always a great meal and never disappoints.
Establishment is very nice. Server was very professional, but little when it comes to personality. One in our party received a poor steak, it was a very fatty filet. Server got a manager to come over to table. The restaurant did the right thing and comped the steak, but why did such a poor cut get to table at all?
Was told this was one of their test restaurants. Test failed.
Our bill (my wife and I) was $220. That is a bit more then we would usually spend on a Friday night out. That being said, it was worth the additional cost. We would normally go to Portland city grill or Mortan’s. While both of those places are delicious and cost effective, I would recommend Ruth’s Chris as A nice change of pace. The lobster Mac and cheese is the most “worth it” item on the menu. If you could only order one side/appetizer it is the obvious winner hands down. It will leave a bigger impression then anything else regarding your meal experience. Thank me later.
My out of town friends and I went to Ruth's Chris for their last night in town and were not disappointed! The restaurant itself is beautifully unique, the staff was friendly and helpful, the drinks excellent, and the steaks cooked to perfection!
If you want a great steak, you can't go wrong!
Food. Great. Server. Great. Always a great experience in the restaurant. I’m a loyal Ruth Chris customer but this time I found damage to car via their valet and the response time in resolving the issue has been disappointing slow. If I parked my own car, it’s 5-star experience. Will always stay loyal though. Thanks to Raul and staff for providing a great birthday for my wife!
Good as always! It’s why we keep coming back
My experience at Ruth's Chris was overall enjoyable. It was my first time and we were celebrating my wife's birthday. I ordered a Caesar Salad, a 16 oz. Ribeye, and a Baked Potato with water and Coke on the side (no alcohol, although they had a wide selection). I also had the Strawberry shortcake. The food was overall very pleasing, my steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned well (a little heavy). The salad was good, not great, as was the baked potato but they were priced fairly and as I expected. My wife had a Petite Filet and shrimp, with a house salad and garlic mashed potatoes. Her experience was similar (outstanding steak, great shrimp, wonderful potatoes and an average salad). Our waiter, Raul, was fantastic. Helpful, patient and not overly friendly. Thank You Ruth's Chris.
