Ruth's Chris Steak House - Pittsburgh Ratings and Reviews
Steaks were great but one of the sides was cold and the other only lukewarm. They not only took the side off of the bill but also a glass of wine so I was really happy with how it was handled. They were also out of some menu items - possibly because they are closing on Monday for renovations. The service was great and overall we enjoyed our dinner.
You get both the sizzle and the steak. Great steak, served HOT, on HOT plates with a wonderful butter sauce. It's our "go to" steak place. Don't miss the spinach au gratin (it's the creamed spinach on the menu - just ask for it au gratin). When the steak comes out, spoon some of that spinach on to the hot plate, where it soaks up a bit of the butter sauce. Now, that's livin' at its best! If you can go with someone who likes their steak the same temp as you do, get the porterhouse for two. You can each have some of the sirloin side for flavor and the tenderloin side for tenderness. And, be sure to save room for the cherry cobbler.
I go to Ruth Chris a great deal because it is usually great for business meetings. I know they are under construction but the food was subpar at best. My guest ordered the hamburger medium and it came out as a well done hockey puck. I ordered the shrimp cocktail which I have had in the past and is usually great but yesterday some of the shrimp seemed old. If it is frozen shrimp they use it was a bad batch. If it is fresh I think they were prepared the day before. The Chile was great. WE didnt have time to return our meals and get something new or we would have, but just a heads up that the quality control might be off due to construction or someone called off sick perhaps.
Outstanding server, Jasmine, made our anniversary celebration truly memorable. Steaks just wonderful! She brought us champagne (a glass each) and strawberries as well as chocolate with macadamia nuts on a platter that said "Happy AnniversAry". Jasmine went the extra mile in a restaurant whose food excels consistently. Thanks Jasmine!
Ps: try the cherry cobbler-it's fantastic !
So tonight we were celebrating two good friends Birthdays... We were a party of 7, a few of us arrived 1hr early to have a few drinks, but quickly told that the bar was closed for renovation. The manager told us our table would be ready in few mins and we could have drinks there. This is fine but we are bar people. Instead we all deceived to go next door to have our drinks while we waited for our table and the rest of the party to arrive...
This was foreshadowing to the night to come, I have never never had such bad customer service and eat out 3 to 4 time a week.
We were seated at 7 and the table staff came by to offered us water, and said our waitress would be over in a min. It took 15 mins for her to show up to take our drink orders... our drinks came about 15 mins later now 30. mins in to our night... she never came back for 30 mins, at which point ask if we need refresh on our drinks, never asked us about apps... but we place our app order as not to lose her... after the second round of drinks came along with our wine. We placed our dinner order at that point did not have much faith in her, she never asked us if we wanted salads, ... so I forgot, our apps came about 20mins after ordered, the waitress disappeared again never really came back to see if things were fine, the table staff asked if we wanted more bread a few time, which never came. She never came to see if we need anything else... this went on all night...
As the restaurant emptied out, we were never asked about dessert, until I asked for the check, at which she asked if we wanted the two dessert boxed that came with meals... paying the bill was equally painful as the computer was down...
Some of the worst service I have ever had, shame great food when we got it
Great food, restaurant was very crowded & noise level was up. Asked server to give us
a little time between cocktails/ordering....she did. Problems with computer system
to pay check.......was told this happened before. Once, I get it........more than once?
As always, the food was wonderful and well worth the money. Unfortunately we did not have the best service this time. Our server also had a very large table as well as ours and ended up not checking on us for well over 20 minutes -- before we had even ordered our main courses. When we finally asked someone to send our server over a different one came and didn't even mention the fact we had been sitting there for so long. Ours finally returned and also didn't mention his absence. A quick acknowledgement would have went a long way. He did finally thank us for our patience when he brought the bill.
Fathers day. Overall everything was good, they made a mistake on my meal and were accommodating, but I did go out for fathers day to enjoy our meal as a family. Just kind of ruins the mood when your waiting for your second meal. Manager, waiter were all great, but for $300 you think they wouldn't mess up a porter house for two.
