Ruth's Chris Steak House - Pikesville Ratings and Reviews
Very, very disappointed with the service and our experience overall. Our waitress was nice but completely unknowledgeable. We knew more about the menu than she did. She was inattentive- we waited an excessive amount of time for drinks, had empty water glasses, and my steak came floating in a sea of disgusting butter when I specifically requested minimal butter. Caesar salad was drowned in tasteless dressing. Totally turned off. Spent way too much money to leave so upset.
I have dined at Ruth’s Chris on many occasions; as recently as last month in St. Louis. And have always had good experiences. This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had there. We were a party of six for my birthday.
1. No one brought the pepper mill after our salads were served. We had to wave down a waiter to bring us fresh pepper.
2. After our meal arrived, the waiter never came back and asked if everything was okay.
3. We had to send a steak back. We ordered 3 cowboy ribeyes. One was pathetic looking (thickness and size) compared to the others.
4. The waiter knew it was my birthday. We ordered dessert. They did not bring me a candle on my dessert. Then after we had dessert he said he was giving me a birthday dessert to take Home. That’s ridiculous!
5. The service just overall was way below anything I have ever experienced there. The usual touches- explaining how the steaks are made, crumbing the table, water refills, making you feel like you’re having a fine dining experience, it was all just missing this visitation the pikesville location.
This is a typical steakhouse. The wait staff does a professional job. The steaks are done at the correct temperature. Seafood is good. the manager comes by at least once to make sure there are no issues with the food or the service and thanks us for visiting. that is a nice touch.
The food at Ruth's Chris is always outstanding. The service was very good but this visit had two minor issues. I had a promotional gift card that had expired 60 days prior. I brought it with me and although it was my fault that I let it expire and had no intent to "ask for the manager" I thought my waitress might have taken the effort to ask the manager if it was OK to accept it toward what was a $400 dinner for three. She did not. The other issue is that when we arrived we were asked if we were there for any special occasion. We told the staff that it was my daughter's 21st birthday. You would think that she might get a complimentary dessert, especially since she was the only one to order dessert. Nope. The last time my wife and I went to Fleming's for our anniversary they brought us a complimentary dessert without even ordering dessert. That being said, Fleming's will be our first choice the next time we have a special occasion dinner.
This was my third visit to this particular Ruth's Chris Steak House. Normally, I would get the lobster but for the first time I actually tried a steak (New York Strip). It was cooked well, tasted great along with the other dishes especially the lobster macaroni and cheese....that was GREAT! We went there for Veterans Day to celebrate ourselves in protecting our country during our time in the Military. I'll definitely be back again! I want to try the sweet potato casserole. I hear it's delicious! Thanks for the great experience. The Staff were very nice and personable as well. Makes a big difference!
Service was terrible. Was sitting at the table for an hour before we got our salads. They sent the wrong salad dressing my husband finished his salad and still waited longer after that until waitress came back so I could request the correct salad dressing. When we got seated we waited at least 20 minutes until we finally got some water 30 minutes until we got our drinks from the bar. At the end of our check was messed up and that was a whole Other issue. When you are paying the amount of money to eat at a restaurant like this the service should be excellent.
This was a birthday dinner my wife set up for me. She notified the restaurant when she confirmed the reservation.
We ordered the $110 porterhouse for two. We have had it before at Ruth's Chris and enjoyed it.
The price is significantly higher than our previous trips. The steak was tough, and not at all worth the price.
We also ordered the calamari. It is described as lightly fried but it was heavily breaded, overcooked and hard.
The service was fine for a mid-level restaurant. But not the exceptional service we are used to from Ruth's Chris and have enjoyed in the past. Water glasses were unfilled. The table was not cleaned up between courses. Orders did not arrive correctly (we ordered mushrooms and received mashed potatoes). Issues like those. Not critical, but not high-quality.
This was a Thursday night, so the ambiance was fine. Noise level good and not too crowded.
It didn't matter to me, but my wife was expecting some notice of the special occasion. There was no mention and nothing offered. There has been in the past.
Ruth's Chris has definitely fallen in value. I used to pester my wife constantly about going there which is why we went for my birthday. I chose not to mention these issues during the dinner, since she wanted it to be a special event and I didn't want to complain then. Ruth's Chris let her and me down.
We will find somewhere else to enjoy a nice evening, good service, and a good steak.
Took my wife for my anniversary. The overall experience was great. If I had one complaint is that my wife and I ordered our filets medium. Hers came out rare and mine was raw. For a high end restaurant where the steak is the main item (it's in the name), I expected much closer to medium. Of course they put it back on and it came out much better. They refreshed the side of mash with a new one and the manager apologized. No other gesture was made beyond this, but I suppose I wasn't expecting it at Ruth's Chris. Still, it was good and I would go back. I chalk the steaks up to a mistake.
The food and service were outstanding. Took my wife and son to celebrate his 19th birthday. The hostess and waiter were very friendly and they gave my son a birthday dessert. The steaks were phenomenal, cooked perfectly, we had the 16 oz ribeye and the 11 oz filet. Really like the fact that they're no longer an a la cart restaurant, you can order a 3-course meal, although it's a limited menu. They also had live music outside, but it was a little chilly so we sat inside. Highly recommend this restaurant, but know that it's a high end restaurant so you're going to pay a hefty price.
My wife and I probably ate in at least 50 Ruth's Chris across the country. We try and make going to Ruth Chris a special occasion, we always enjoy, always special! I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed we were, our salad was wilted obviously sitting on a counter for a period of time. The raisin bread was stale and dry, then my 11oz filet came out "the plate was not sizzling only Luke warm, I asked for medium and got medium rare, waiter never asked us how was our food. They delivered mashed potatoes and broccoli and was cold the butter would not even get soft on either. I finally asked another waiter would they get my waiter, waited another 5 minutes before he came. I told him about my food and he said they would take care of. When I got my steak back it was dry (but really hot), my wife was already finished before my steak, mash and broccoli came out. I only ate half of my steak and could not finish it was so dry and now over cooked. We are so disappointed I can't think of going back to that Ruth Chris. It was the worst $150.00 we ever spent. To top it off, the manager never came over. To think it was a Saturday evening and maybe 1/2 the tables were vacant. Sorry, I'm always very positive, not this time
The food was generally up to the excellent Ruth’s Chris standards, although the dessert kind of tasted premade and there was a leaf of lettuce that was rather slimy. Also, while both I and my father in law ordered our steaks medium rare, mine was definitely overdone compared to his. Lastly, it took a long time for my cocktail to arrive, even coming after the salad. The lampshades in the men’s bathroom had scratches on them. All in all, a very good meal, and I thought our server Katrina did a very good job. But there were a few letdowns, as detailed above.
My husband just wanted to treat me to dinner at our favorite restaurant before I go back to work!! I'm a teacher and we so enjoy restaurants that are appealing in every way!! The food and drinks were exactly what I needed to end a wonderful summer vacation!!
