Ruth's Chris Steak House - Pikesville Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful restaurant for a classy date! We went the day after Valentine's Day, and were honestly expecting a stressed-out staff and lower-quality service. Not true at all! The food was excellent and the staff was endlessly patient and hospitable. Highly recommend.
Ruth Chris is one of my favorite restaurants. The waiter was very nice and customer friendly. I would have given five stars, if it wasn’t for the greeting hostesses lack of customer service regarding greeting the guest with a smile and making them feel welcome. It seems like they were overwhelmed and frustrated with the busy schedule they had on Valentine’s Day. Customer service doesn’t stop because you are busy, that’s the time to show your best customer service during challenging times of this nature. I would recommend that the manager encourages their hostesses to attend customer service training moving forward. Overall, my wife and I had a very wonderful evening. Winston the waiter is the best. Thanks Winston for all your help in picking out the White sweet wine (Moscato).
We use Ruth’s Chris for many business meals and events and this was just for friends celebrating a birthday. I have to say for three of them this was their first experience....what a disappointment. The waitress while not overtly rude was snide and did not provide the level of service that we had anticipated. We repeatedly had to request plates for the shared appetizers, water refills, etc. and to each request for the items that were lacking she would rudely reply, I got it, I heard you, it will be here in a minute.
Very disappointing to the point we requested the manager. Not a situation that I would consider for bringing future friends.
Pikesville Ruth Chris's steak house is our favorite one to visit as it is the corporate office and parking is free. The food was on par with our expectations, excellent. From the petite filet mignon and pork entrees to the onion rings, gumbo, and mashed potatoes, all were delicious and cooked to perfection. Both the chocolate sin cake and the apple cheesecake were equally good. The only minor issue I had was a small dead fly in my water glass. That is the reason for minus 1 star on service and overall. The waiter should have noticed that before placing the glass on my table. He immediately removed it and brought a clean fresh glass once I drew his attention to it. He did keep our water glasses filled throughout the meal. We will definitely eat there again and do highly recommend this restaurant. They should consider putting a strainer over the water pitcher to prevent such issues going forward.
Fantastic evening spent with my husband. The food, service and ambience were superb. We had more than enough food for not just that evening, but for a full dinner meal the next day. The food was sumptuous. The waiter(Derin) made excellent food recommendations. Without knowing me, He seemed to be able to hone in on selections that would appeal to my palate, particularly the salad and entree selections and I was not disappointed! He made us feel comfortable and welcome by injecting not just superb service skills but a wry sense of humor as well. Everyone from the hostesses to the wait staff and maitre'd was warm and welcoming.
We will definitely return as well as tell others about our fabulous dining experience.
I have dined at this location three times. It is assessible to the beltway and had a good reputation. The service is almost consistently good. Serivce on this visit was outstanding!! The food was subpar. The lobster bisque was bisgue with no lobster meat in it which for $11.00 dollars you would think at least a piece. The calamara came out burnt and had to sent back was much better the second time. Very disappointing food experience. Not worth the cost of dining there. Two people heavy appitizers still came to $115.00 dollars with two glasses of wine. Prime Rib and Capital Grille much mnore consistent.
Very awful experience on Sunday.
Lobster tail. No butter.
Ordered tuna app for dinner.
Server made excuses.
Manager ‘handled’ but still sucked.
This place has gotten worse since Ben left. And Ben was not a good manager. Pretty shameful.
Best item was the salad on a cold plate.
Dining here on Sunday of MLK weekend was really disappointing. It took 25 minutes to receive our drinks (i think the server forgot, and we had to ask a nearby server to check on them), and we only received two of the three (had to wait longer for the 3rd). After the drinks we had to call our server over so she'd take our meal order. Arrived about 50 minutes after we were seated. Then watched the waiter a few tables over attempt to flambé the bananas foster, and didn't know how to work the gas and managed to almost burn his hair off, eventually cooking the bananas, and burning it, so the entire dining room smelled burnt (as did our clothes after leaving). We were there for a birthday, but opted to leave before dessert because of the service. It was the worst I've ever felt about a really expensive meal.
This is only the second time we've visited a Ruth's Chris and I must say I was extremely impressed. Last year we visited a different location and it wasn't near the warm, friendly and intimate experience we enjoyed this last time in Pikesville. It was a wonderful evening, not hurried but relaxed and the food was excellent. We very much enjoyed this experience and would recommend this location to anyone looking for a quiet and intimate dining experience.
5 of us went for NYE dinner. We were greeted by a yawning valet, who was standing inside the doorway and did not even open the door for us. Our reserved table wasn't ready, so we went to the bar to grab a drink and could not get served for 10 minutes standing there (the bartender was making table drinks, not addressing patrons in front of her). Once seated, we were given a huge table for 10 people. This was awkward w/only 5 of us. We felt a 100 miles apart. The music was so low, we could not hear it, so the atmosphere was super quiet. Our waiter sounded like he had a bad sinus infection & all I could think about was how sick we would all be after he handled our food/drinks. He did not go over the special pricing for the NYE menu, which made understanding some of it, tricky. He proceeded to simply tell us how long his day had been and that he'd be back to take our order later. The lobster bisque had a terrible after-taste. The caesar salad was good, but very small. My husband ordered the 2 oz. larger filet and it looked 2 oz. smaller than mine. For the atmosphere and service alone, The Prime Rib, Capital Grille or Oregon Grille would have been $450 MUCH better spent, where you are treated as if they WANT you there. We could have gone to The Valley Inn for better food & atmosphere for 1/2 the cost. What a waste of a wonderfully fun evening! When spending this much, you expect it to be "an event". It felt dated and poorly run. We also noticed many patrons in jeans! What happened to a dress code? It was like the Twilight Zone from start to finish. VERY disappointing.
My husband and I dined at the Pikesville, MD location on New Years' Eve, and found everything to be absolutely wonderful. The entire evening was perfect. Our server was very knowledgeable and accommodating and our filet mignon was prepared to perfection. This is our "go-to" place for celebrations. We always leave feeling happy and content. We will dine here again and again.
