Ruth's Chris Steak House - Pikesville Ratings and Reviews
Dining here on Sunday of MLK weekend was really disappointing. It took 25 minutes to receive our drinks (i think the server forgot, and we had to ask a nearby server to check on them), and we only received two of the three (had to wait longer for the 3rd). After the drinks we had to call our server over so she'd take our meal order. Arrived about 50 minutes after we were seated. Then watched the waiter a few tables over attempt to flambé the bananas foster, and didn't know how to work the gas and managed to almost burn his hair off, eventually cooking the bananas, and burning it, so the entire dining room smelled burnt (as did our clothes after leaving). We were there for a birthday, but opted to leave before dessert because of the service. It was the worst I've ever felt about a really expensive meal.
This is only the second time we've visited a Ruth's Chris and I must say I was extremely impressed. Last year we visited a different location and it wasn't near the warm, friendly and intimate experience we enjoyed this last time in Pikesville. It was a wonderful evening, not hurried but relaxed and the food was excellent. We very much enjoyed this experience and would recommend this location to anyone looking for a quiet and intimate dining experience.
5 of us went for NYE dinner. We were greeted by a yawning valet, who was standing inside the doorway and did not even open the door for us. Our reserved table wasn't ready, so we went to the bar to grab a drink and could not get served for 10 minutes standing there (the bartender was making table drinks, not addressing patrons in front of her). Once seated, we were given a huge table for 10 people. This was awkward w/only 5 of us. We felt a 100 miles apart. The music was so low, we could not hear it, so the atmosphere was super quiet. Our waiter sounded like he had a bad sinus infection & all I could think about was how sick we would all be after he handled our food/drinks. He did not go over the special pricing for the NYE menu, which made understanding some of it, tricky. He proceeded to simply tell us how long his day had been and that he'd be back to take our order later. The lobster bisque had a terrible after-taste. The caesar salad was good, but very small. My husband ordered the 2 oz. larger filet and it looked 2 oz. smaller than mine. For the atmosphere and service alone, The Prime Rib, Capital Grille or Oregon Grille would have been $450 MUCH better spent, where you are treated as if they WANT you there. We could have gone to The Valley Inn for better food & atmosphere for 1/2 the cost. What a waste of a wonderfully fun evening! When spending this much, you expect it to be "an event". It felt dated and poorly run. We also noticed many patrons in jeans! What happened to a dress code? It was like the Twilight Zone from start to finish. VERY disappointing.
My husband and I dined at the Pikesville, MD location on New Years' Eve, and found everything to be absolutely wonderful. The entire evening was perfect. Our server was very knowledgeable and accommodating and our filet mignon was prepared to perfection. This is our "go-to" place for celebrations. We always leave feeling happy and content. We will dine here again and again.
My husband and I came to the restaurant to use a a gift certificate we received as a wedding present. When we got there, we waited a few minutes and were shown to a table for 6 even though it was just me and my husband having dinner. When we asked the young lady who showed us to our table if we could have the smaller table next to the one she showed us to, we were told that the “hostess was in a mood and she wasn’t going to go back and ask her for a smaller table since this is the table she was told to seat us at, and that we should ask the server when he came if he could come to the hostess and move us to the smaller table.” When Charles came to our table, he was very polite even though he was definitely surprised that we were sitting at such a large table for just us and he rectified moving us since the other person would not. We got the colassal crab stack as a starter and we both loved it. We also got the classic complete meal with the starter, entree and dessert. We both got the acorn squash bisque and it needed a lot of seasoning since it tasted bland. The petit filet and shrimp were just alright in our opinion, but we loved the sides of creamed spinach and mashed potatoes.....this was our favorite part of the meal. We haven’t yet tried the apple cheesecake. We expected more from our dining experience here for the first time and I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
My granddaughter loves steak so we took her there for our anniversary. The only problem was that her food never came out with ours. Did the server forget to put the order in? Maybe. However, she got it out asap and later comped my granddaughter's dinner. Good customer service. And she ate part of my steak and her entire meal. Great menu for kids under 10.
We had a great Christmas lunch. Wish Ruth's Chris was always opened for lunch! We shared the crab stack which had very little avocado and lots of pickled cucumbers. A fine dining restaurant should do better. We shared a Caesar salad which should have come split. We each had the filet which was very good. With 2 cups of delicious coffee the bill was $102.00 before tip.
Very, very disappointed with the service and our experience overall. Our waitress was nice but completely unknowledgeable. We knew more about the menu than she did. She was inattentive- we waited an excessive amount of time for drinks, had empty water glasses, and my steak came floating in a sea of disgusting butter when I specifically requested minimal butter. Caesar salad was drowned in tasteless dressing. Totally turned off. Spent way too much money to leave so upset.
I have dined at Ruth’s Chris on many occasions; as recently as last month in St. Louis. And have always had good experiences. This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had there. We were a party of six for my birthday.
1. No one brought the pepper mill after our salads were served. We had to wave down a waiter to bring us fresh pepper.
2. After our meal arrived, the waiter never came back and asked if everything was okay.
3. We had to send a steak back. We ordered 3 cowboy ribeyes. One was pathetic looking (thickness and size) compared to the others.
4. The waiter knew it was my birthday. We ordered dessert. They did not bring me a candle on my dessert. Then after we had dessert he said he was giving me a birthday dessert to take Home. That’s ridiculous!
5. The service just overall was way below anything I have ever experienced there. The usual touches- explaining how the steaks are made, crumbing the table, water refills, making you feel like you’re having a fine dining experience, it was all just missing this visitation the pikesville location.
This is a typical steakhouse. The wait staff does a professional job. The steaks are done at the correct temperature. Seafood is good. the manager comes by at least once to make sure there are no issues with the food or the service and thanks us for visiting. that is a nice touch.
Thanksgiving Day for 7 of us incl. a 2 y.o. The turkey dinners were delicious and 2 people had steak and were very happy with their meal. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The service was very good but a bit on the slow side and not much of a children's menu. All in all, it was a wonderful outing and no clean up at home and we even rec'd little leftover bags.
The food at Ruth's Chris is always outstanding. The service was very good but this visit had two minor issues. I had a promotional gift card that had expired 60 days prior. I brought it with me and although it was my fault that I let it expire and had no intent to "ask for the manager" I thought my waitress might have taken the effort to ask the manager if it was OK to accept it toward what was a $400 dinner for three. She did not. The other issue is that when we arrived we were asked if we were there for any special occasion. We told the staff that it was my daughter's 21st birthday. You would think that she might get a complimentary dessert, especially since she was the only one to order dessert. Nope. The last time my wife and I went to Fleming's for our anniversary they brought us a complimentary dessert without even ordering dessert. That being said, Fleming's will be our first choice the next time we have a special occasion dinner.
