Ruth's Chris Steak House - Pier 5 Ratings and Reviews
I love this Ruth Chris. The crab cakes were delicious, no filler. The portions are very generous, 3 adults were able to share the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Our waiter, Chris, was very knowledgeable and able to anticipate our needs (we had four kids with us and Chris cleared the glasses and knives, and immediately got the kids apple juice). We're definitely going back for restaurant week!!!
As stated previously, food was good & service was very good. BUT 4 problems ...
3 minor, 1 major. Minor first ... We wanted to see the inner harbor fireworks and I asked to be seated outside ... it was implied that you could see the fireworks from out table ... one can not see the fireworks from any of their tables. Second minor - Tried to order a Pina Colada for myself & a Milkskake for my grandson - no blender outside & they can't go to the inside bar to get those things. Third minor - The owner of this restuarant was walking in the eating area with a lit cigar. MAJOR problem ... it took well over 30 minutes to get our car from valet parking and another 30 minutes to get from the front of the restuarant to the main street.
Ruth's Chris Steak House was selected for our July 4th dinner, and they did not disappoint us. We asked for a window seating and were granted one of the best views in the restaurant. Our server was totally knowledgeable of all menu and special items. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. The waiter's suggestion that we split a side turned out to be spot on for our appetites. The caesar salad was fresh and crisp, and the asparagus was not over cooked. This was the best meal we have ever had at Ruth's Chris.
We had a wonderful time AGAIN! We enjoy coming to Ruth's Chris at Pier 5, it is a great place to eat when we have a hot date night downtown.
Thank you Ruth's Chris staff for another great evening! Our server, was fantastic AGAIN! We had the same server that we had from a previous dinner outing.
We went to Ruth's Chris Pier 5 for Fathers Day and to enjoy the Sailabration in Baltimore. When we arrived we were seated at our reservation time. A server came over after about 5 minutes. He took our drink order and walked away. 30 minutes passed and no drinks and no server. We watched him go to every table numerous times but walked right passed us. Being a server in the past and knowing it was a busy day, we tried to remain patient. Eventually my patience ran thin and I got up from the table and contacted the manager. He had a new server to our table within minutes and our service experience was greatly improved. My sons grilled cheese was horrible though. All in all it was not our best experience there, but we will give it another try.
Ruth's Chris was amazing! The server was delightful, friendly, patient, and observant. The food was delicious! The food brought joy to the taste buds of everyone at the table! Dad and Grand-dad enjoyed their meals which made the experience 10x greater! Thank you Ruth's Chris at Pier 5!
We asked to be seated at a booth in the bar. As my guest sat down I was pushed out of the way by a man in a suit running through the bar. He ran to the table And told my guest she could not sit there and they had other booths in the dining room. Everyone dining in the bar stopped eating and all eyes were on us. Very humiliating. He then took us to a table in the walkway next to the server station, a horrible table. We finally settled on a booth next to the loud kitchen. During our entire meal and 250 dollars later, no one ever sat at the booth in the bar. We asked for the male host's name that told us we could not sit there and we were shocked to find out he was the GM! Never Again!!
Christopher McEntee was the best server I have ever had. My wife and I went there because we had a gift card and it was our 1 year wedding anniversary. Chris made it a very special occasion and was super attentive and personal. Both my wife and I have been servers in our lives and I can say without a doubt Chris is one of the best I have ever seen!
The food at this Ruth's Cris location was wonderful - and we have absolutely no complaints about that. However, the service was slow and somewhat unprofessional given the cost of the meal. We were waiting in the bar for our table to be ready (which is fine), and when our table was ready the hostess stood at the entrance to the bar and shouted (yes, shouted) our name to get our attention like we were in a cafeteria. Not cool. This location is very touristy with casual diners stopping in from the Inner Harbor. So if you expecting an elegant dining experience with professional staff, as in the other Ruth's Cris location in Baltimore, sadly this one falls short.
I have nothing but great things to say about our Ruth's Chris Pier 5 experience. It was Mother's Day and the restaurant was busy. We didn't realize, since this was our 1st time there, that outside dining was an option until we arrived at the venue. When we request outside dinning, although our table was already set for us inside, we were immediately reseated without issue. Dan, our server, was excellent. He showed us wonderful attention and made the guest of honor , the Mother, feel special. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions and general dining.

Service was horrendous. I didn't see the waitress for 10 to 15 minutes after being seated. Drinks were not served for 15 minutes after that. Appetizer was presented in a timely manner but the entree was very late. To cap off the bad experience I had to go to the manager to get my credit card back. After instructing the waitress I was pressed for time she took my card and disappeared. In her defense, she appeared to be stretched too thin having tables inside and out and far too many of them. I will not return! Extremely loud atmosphere for fine dining.
It was a special birthday for my grand-daugther and it wasn't made to feel special for her. Someone mentioned it when we entered and she received some type of desert as we were about to leave-almost as if it had been an after thought. She would have received more special attention at Denny's or TGI Fridays. In an effort to make it up to her we went to Fleming's a few days later and the effort they extended to make her feel special was totally different. Ruth's Chris is off of my list of restaurants to frequent - Fleming's is the one I will recommend to friends, family and business associates. What was intended to be be a special night with family for a special occassion was ruined by the experience at Ruth Chris. Never again.
This was by far not a Ruth's Chris we were used too standard and price wise. Water Street and Bethesda locations were by far superior to this location. To start with every other location has a 3 course menu. When we asked about this menu, we were told that they didn't participate in this. Also food and server were extremely slow. Side dishes came out cold and undercooked. Not worth the money for Ruth's Chris and the location was not up to the expectations we have seen elsewhere. My advice is go to Water Street location about 5 blocks away for true Ruth's Chris experience.
VERY expensive, but the steaks are GREAT. Most menu pricing is ala carte, the ribeye and many other steaks will feed 2 as well as the side dishes, so order accordingly, Easter special menu was great, Mother's Day special menu lacked comparitively and was the same price. You can go to happy hour at the bar and get the same food much cheaper..try that first.
The waiter was not good. I asked for salad dressing an did not see him until the salad was eaten. Finally he came to the table with the dressing and did not say anything about being late with it. The steak was tough. I said something to the waiter and he did not do anything. I though he would have at least offered me a new one. When the billed came he charged me for dessert. The dessert was included in the price. He started to argue with me saying I have to pay for it. I finally got thru to him and he realized it was in the price of the meal. I like Ruth Chris but don't think I will go back to this one again.
Food and service was very good (as usual). Was a little noiser than past visits as we were seated next to the kitchen. I was a little surprised that staff did not acknowledge the special occassion (29th wedding anniversary) as this has always been done in the past. We also went earlier in the day than we usually do (4:30) and found this a nice time as the restaurant was not crowded.
