Ruth's Chris Steak House - Pier 5 Ratings and Reviews
The new property is set up to accommodate more people than the previous location, but it has lost the ambiance that I love about Ruth’s Chris. It felt more like a hotel banquet facility than a fine dining restaurant. While the food was still Ruth’s Chris quality, the service and atmosphere had much to be desired.
As always the food was superb. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I took my wife for Valentines Day and I expected it to be busy. It was last year also. We got there early and were seated right away. My only complaint was that we were seated at a small round folding table that did not have adequate space. The wait staff had to continually juggle plates and glasses as we worked through appetizers main course and dessert. There were larger 2 person tables available the entire time we were there, one right next to us. Our meal and tip cast over $300.00 so a nice table would have been nice. Kudos to the wait staff for trying to keep the table organized
Started out with a dozen raw oysters and a couple drinks at the bar. The wasabi sauce served with the oysters was awesome! For dinner in the dining room, I had my first bone in fillet mignon which was excellent, but a bit more done than I expected for medium. Also added the lobster tail surf and turf special. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his medium T-Bone, and the au gratin potato and roasted Brussels sides to share were very good. All was enjoyed with an over-priced bottle of wine, and finished off with a shared piece of the best banana cream pie I’ve ever had, with a capaccino and glass of 20 year Port. Our bill, after the $125 gift card was still $250, before the tip. It was an early Valentine’s Day dinner with a gift card, and very good, but extremely expensive! Just a very special occasion kinda place for us.
We sat in room at front window. Three tables for 2 along the window. Seating was too tight. I am back if my chair touched back of chair of gentleman behind me. We are both slim in stature.
Service is was just weird. I know everyone is doing the best they can. But waitstaff serving is was not professional wait staff. For instance... we get calamaria. Ask for second sauce. It comes over five minutes later... in dish that is three times larger than first sauce.
My NY Strip... ordered medium. Was rare. Ok... it happens... but at a Ruth’s Chris?
Lastly... paid $200 for dinner including tip and no alcohol served. Not worth it. Very disappointing. Was expecting similar experience to Annapolis or Ocean City locations.
This is one of my favorite restaurants and the first time I absolutely hated the food. I get the stuffed chicken all the time this, time it was not seasoned and when I told the waitress she took it back and brought the same chicken with a little bit of season on it. it was horrible I probably won't be back anytime soon and I've been there 3 times in the pass month.
Valet was pleasant opening and closing our doors for us. We were seated immediately and our server was very friendly. I visited the pikesville location and just had a better experience as far as the food was concerned. My Chesapeake style entree complement was extra dry and my asparagus looked a little burnt. It was impeccable at the pikeville location. Sweet potato casserole was pretty good and my steak was cooked to my liking. Overall the experience was decent though I wish ALL of the food would’ve been just as good this time. Also very disappointed the apple crumb cheesecake isn’t offered on the dessert menu!!
Ruth Chris will be my favorite restaurant for now on, the drinks were incredible, I had pomagrante margaritas, thumbs up to the bartender, and the food was delish, I had the salmon , creamed spinach , and mashed potatoes. My daughter had the steak and scalloped potatoes, which was also delish. My friend also had salmon. I will definitely dine there again and very soon.
As always, the food was excellent. Steak was tender and cooked exactly the way I requested. Asparagus nicely grilled. Blue cheese dressing on salad was especially good. But star of meal was the Lemon Cake Martini for desert. It packed a wallop but was just delicious. The only complaint that I have is that we made it clear we were there for Restaurant Week menu and server tried repeatedly to have us upgrade to regular menu and larger, more expensive cuts of meal.
The food was good and I liked the service staff, service was a bit slow and they forgot a few things that we had ordered. Water wasn't refilled often enough, which was needed because the temperature in the restaurant was very warm. But overall still enjoyable and would eat here again.
I made a reservation for your restaurant well before New Year’s Eve. We were a party of 4 and were entertaining my son’s girlfriend from out-of-town. We were seated in an overflow Banquet room right next to the kitchen door. There were 2 large tables in the room and they both had numerous children. We were looking for ambiance but instead felt like we were at Chuck-E-Cheese. I was embarrassed but did not want to ask to be moved because I didn’t want to make my son or his girlfriend uncomfortable. I think that the manager must have felt bad for us because he offered us oven mitts (??) and discount coupons for our next visit. No thank you.
I was really disappointed and to seal the deal, my credit card was misplaced in your restaurant.
