Ruth's Chris Steak House - Pasadena Ratings and Reviews
Again delicious! We go here a couple times a year and it is fantastic. Truly one of the best , if not THE best, steak house in the world. Cooked in clarified butter, this grass fed beef arrives sizzling hot on your plate. We love it every time! The service is impeccable and everything is superb. Can't recommend this highly enough!
We were the last reservation of the day and were running a little late after a concert. The hostess, Jessica, was very kind and told me they'd be waiting for us. The restaurant had pretty much emptied out by the time we arrived, but we received wonderful service from our waiter, Joseph, who was assisted by Adam. (I was surprised to hear at the end of our meal that Joseph had only been working here since Thanksgiving. He had a lot of poise and knowledge and helped make our visit an enjoyable one.)
Was also pleasantly surprised to find a 3-course dining option on the first page of the menu that was perfect for our late-night meal and a very good value.
Outstanding as always. Patrick, our server, seemed preoccupied with a nearby party of six, so service was spotty. Perhaps the two helpers could fill in for Patrick's absence so that all patrons could be served and taken care of. Food, as always, was outstanding!
Not your finest moment!!! Appeared to be short handed. Tables not turned timely. Matt explained that RC was trying something new. WHY on a holiday? Upon arrival, on time, were told 35 minutes. We were seated after 1 hour. Made the RESERVATION for 7:15pm 1 month ago. Need to employ text alert for seating. Hostesses wandered through the crowd looking for people to seat. Big meal not ok at 9pm. Steak was over cooked. Service was not what we have come to expect as a return customer. Overbooking only benefits RC. Wish our experience had been more positive. Very disappointing!!
Don’t don’t go there for the Thanksgiving set meal. Mass produced, conveyer belt food, obviously prepared well in advance (for example, we both dislike garlic but could not get potatoes without garlic in them, just not possible). I was expecting real roast turkey but we got some kind of mass produced turkey breast roll. The only possible dessert was pumpkin cheesecake, which we didn’t eat because neither of us like cheesecake or pumpkin. The service was super fast-paced obviously designed to get us in and out ASAP, our waiter kept hovering over us to take our plates while we were eating, and didn’t wait for us to ask for the check. It was presented moments after the dishes from the last course were taken away, as if to say “Now pay us and go”. It was supposed to be a special Thanksgiving meal for the two of us but instead it felt like a rushed, harried experience for which we paid $160. There won’t be a repeat next year, that’s for sure.
Best Ruth's experience in a while! Server Julia was fantastic. She paid close attention to every detail, our special requests, and ensured our food and beverages were to our liking. Very energtic but not intrusive. Lamb chops were superb and the filet mignon was top-notch, juicy, flavorful, tender and a great cut. Creamed spinach, mushrooms and asparagus with hollandaise are the best sides...onion rings would be better but you have to order those in advance...definitely will next time. Wait staff very knowledgeable and hostess was professional and efficient.
Nice pre-theater dinner.
Seated at a banquette that would've been difficult for four, the three of us enjoyed a splendid dinner before the Pasadena Playhouse. My two companions ordered off the Classics menu -- filet/shrimp and ribeye -- and enjoyed them thoroughly. I opted for crabcakes, which were fresh tasting and meaty, but were not finished to my taste. Not the restaurant's fault, just the recipe.
Caesar salads and carrot ginger soup were big hits as starters. Shared side dishes were perfect accompaniments -- mashed potatoes, crab-fried rice, creamed spinach and fresh broccoli.
A few weeks ago, we ate at the Toronto store, which has brought back the excellent Key lime pie. Sadly Pasadena has not, although the cheesecake was scrumptious, with a nice citrusy accent. Berries with sweetened cream also made a great dessert. The apple galette was a little disappointing. More an apple pie with delusions of grandeur.
Service by Nicole was brisk and friendly. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, waddled off to the theater and will definitely be back.
Even though the rib eye was advertised as well marbled, I found it too dry and a bit tough. I requested medium rare but the steak was closer to medium. My partner's filet was also a bit well done. This is not the first time. Ruth Chris seems to do a poor job in cooking steaks to what the customer specifies.
Food was great but I know it was busy because we waited quite a bit for our first course, and at some point, our glasses of water were empty for more than 15 minutes without anyone coming by to check on us. But we get it—it was a busy Saturday night. How about bussers who aren’t waiting tables to go around and check on water refills?
Celebrated our 24th Wedding Anniversary. We both had the Filet Mignon on the bone (Amazing), and shared the Lobster Mac n Cheese, Honey & Bacon Brussel Sprouts, and a bottle of New Zealand Pinot Noir. And for dessert, we shared a Complimentary apple fritter ala mode and two glasses of champagne. Another great dining experience at one of our favorite restaurants!!
