Ruth's Chris Steak House - Palm Desert Ratings and Reviews
Everything was outstanding as usual, with the exception of sending back 2 filets , that were very undercooked. Creme brûlée were fantastic. We ordered 2 glasses of wine we assumed were house, and were charged $42. Did not want to make a fuss with good friends!!
We have visited this restaurant several times over the past few years. Things are beginning to change and not for the better. I ordered an ordinary cocktail and to my shock it was $15.
Second the Lyonnaise potatoes have now become fingerling potatoes which are awful.
I am sorry to experience that Ruth Chris's is now an ordinary restaurant, but still expensive.
We went to Ruth's for two birthday celebrations, my sister-in -law Marilyn and our friend Jim. We've been to Ruth's many times, mostly for special occasions like b'days and anniversaries. Service was fine but seemed a bit slow. All our food was delicious. We had Jim-lamb chops (excellent), John-rib eye steak (excellent), Marilyn-filet mignon (excellent), Karen-3 crab cakes (very good), Ronnie (filet mignon+shrimp) very good. Two b'day desserts which we appreciated. Treated very well. Look forward to next visit.
We celebrated my husbands birthday with another couple and the meal was perfect. Our waitress and server were attentive and gracious. The food was wonderful. The shrimp cocktail was perfectly prepared. But the main event...the steak was unbelievably delicious. It was cooked to perfection and the sides were quite large so we shared a few of them. Only downside was we were seated near a table with a terrible toddler and parents that didn’t handle him too well. It was distracting. Not a place for kids. All and all a great evening,
The steak was delicious as always, but our server seemed distracted and was somewhat unprofessional. He made it feel more like a meal on a cruise ship than at a fine restaurant, and our steak was not served oscar style as requested. Au gratin potatoes were amazing, however.
Ruth's Chris is one of my favorites in the desert. The food is fantastic and the service is usually amazing.
But last night, the service was so consistently bad that it totally overshadowed the amazing food. Very disappointing.
1. The servers repeatedly reached across guests to serve food instead of walking around the table to serve properly
2. All of our steaks were brought to the table while we were still enjoying our salads. We sent them back so we could finish our salads, and they brought them back 15 minutes later. One had to be sent back due to overcooking
3. At least 3 times, towards the end of dinner, wait staff stopped by to see if they could clear our plates while one of our party was still eating.
4. While we were enjoying desert, the wait staff were setting up tables in the dining room for the next day, and were doing so loudly ... silverware clanking and glasses clinking ... it seemed they wanted to send a message to us ... their last table of the evening ... that they were ready to go home.
My dinner guests had never been to Ruths' Chris and I took them there and had raved about the food and service. It was embarrassing to have had this experience with them.
When I go to a nice restaurant, I don't mind spending a bit for a wonderful meal, but I expect great service.
Sadly, Ruth's Chris missed the mark badly last night.
As always the food was incredible. The atmosphere was fantastic. The restaurant was packed so we had to wait for our table even though we had a reservation and they knew it was our anniversary, (comping our drinks would’ve been a nice touch). The service was attentive but our server was so detached that it was a bit awkward. Maybe she was having an off night. I highly recommend this place though it is the best steak ever.
I should have believed the reviews I read warning prospective diners about Ruth's Chris. It was so disappointing. I took my mother there for her 95th birthday. They seated us right next to the kitchen door so we had waiters and noise constantly. I told our waitress it was my mother's 95th birthday and she literally went away and came back and threw some happy birthday confetti on the table and walked away. I will never go there again. I would have complained right there on the spot but it would have upset my mother too much. So sad.
Very expensive $46 - 51 for just the steak - no sides. Albeit, the best filet ever. There was a snag in their coordination with Marriott for the 10% discount requiring a conversation with the manager but it was all squared away eventually. Check the bills if using a gift card because they failed to give full value the first time. It again it all worked out.
The service was poor as the server forgot to put in one of the steak orders and we had to look for her for a second drink as she was too busy with a large party in a separate room. The steak wasn't up to RC usual standards. The RC in San Diego is superb, but the Palm Desert location consistently falls short.
Celebrating my sister's birthday and our anniversary. Ruth's Chris lives up to our highest standards for a special occasion dinner at a very special place. We've had Danielle our server several times before, she is a real delight to talk to and takes very good care of us. My sister and I both had the excellent filet mignon and my husband had one of the very best rib eye steaks available in Palm Desert area. Sides: mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole w/pecan crust and creamed spinach are always delicious. John's sister is due for a visit next month, for her birthday, and we'll look forward to revisiting Ruth's again soon.
Ruth's Chris restaurants almost anywhere (not Las Vegas) are excellent in every respect, and always dependable. Certainly the best place for steak in the Coachella Valley. The night we were there they were full, and waitstaff were pressed--but they did not falter. Nor did the kitchen.
Frankly, one Ruth's Chris is like another. The exterior and interior design nay vary a bit but not the food quality, service or price. In that respect Ruth's is always reliable.
Four of us dined on the lower priced, summer, prix fixed menu. We also ordered one bottle of the lower priced bottles of wine ($45), and two Armold Palmer's. Two deserts were comped because of a birthday and an anniversary. $288 including tip. As always, bring your wallet and have a good time.
The service was the worse I have ever had at a Ruth Chris., which I frequent often. When they called and verified my reservation, I inquired of women can wear hats. The answer was that we would never ask a lady to remove her hat. I asked even if it's a baseball hat? I received the same answer. Now I have a hair condition and was pleased to hear that because I would not remove my hat and would go to another establishment. When we arrived I was asked to remove my hat which I told the hostess that I had spoke to someone before coming and would not be removing my hat. It was a very uncomfortable situation. I let it go and moved on. The waitress came and we placed drink orders in which they forgot half of and we had to remind her after we had already received our first course. We asked for extra salad dressing which we did not receive until we had to ask a manager since our waitress never came back to the table. The main course came and I asked for my steak medium rare and it came well done. I had to get the busboy to take my steak back because yet again, no waitress in site. I was treating all of my staff to dinner and all 6 of my employees had finished their entire steaks and all of the sides were gone and I still had not received my steak. My assistant had to go the the hostess to get someone to bring my steak out, which by now I didn't even want since everyone was already done with their meals. Not even an apology. I have always raved about Ruth Chris. I frequent the Pasadena restaurant and go in every location I travel (Maui, Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, etc). Very disappointing and will NEVER go to this Ruth Chris again.
Well, I am usually a fan of Ruth's Chris Steak house. However this time I nor my partner were impressed. I always get the Petit Filet a la Oscar cooked medium. This time the excessive use of butter, and crab that I am thinking was not fresh I got extremely sick and could not be more than 10 feet from a restroom the entire following day. My partner ordered the Rib Eye, although cooked to the correct temperature, the taste level was down, the use of excessive butter and pepper had him scraping the top of the steak off.
We will give Ruth's Chris another chance, but not in the near future. $175 for 2 people, no alcohol ordered, and to be sick the entire next day, is not my idea of a good value.
