Ruth's Chris Steak House - Palm Desert Ratings and Reviews
The steaks here are definitely among the best in the Coachella Valley! They are a little pricy, but worth it for that “special “ occasion. We started with the crab cakes as an appetizer...excellent choice. Their filet is my favorite, but my husband (by the way we were celebrating our 14th anniversary) had the ribeye; wow! It was delicious. They do cook their meats to perfection!
I would not order creamed spinach or the fingerling potatoes again. Their mashed potatoes & sweet potato casserole are excellent.
Michael, our server made us feel VERY special for this anniversary celebration!
Hands down best meal ever. Lobster bisque was outstanding. Husband had the harvest salad and was blown away. We had the surf and turf and was thrilled with portion and taste. Creme brûlée for desert was delicious. Our server, Mark was helpful and enjoyable. Will return for sure!
We were very surprised by the number of errors that occurred st one of our favourite restaurants
The table didn’t have enough settings and mistakes with our food orders. Not sure if problem with server or the kitchen
We had to request our table be cleared of used dishes and silverware.
The food was delious but attention to detail questionable at best
We always do Christmas Eve @ Ruths in Palm Desert. Wether it be Maui, San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas we always fit in a dinner @ Ruths. This year was a bit off. My steak was too rare. Baked potatoes were very expensive but not very good. The service was “off” also. We will let it go that it was Christmas Eve, but you should have staffed better than having the customer give you a break. There was no break coming my way.
Management needs to remember that. And there are steakhouses all over this valley. Something for Ruths group to remember, maybe more so on a holiday instead of trying to skate by on your repeat business and your forgiving loyal customer base.
Ruth Chris has OUTSTANDING staff, so patient, so nice. Always helping patrons. The food is excellent and reasonable. Compared to Mortons Steakhouse Ruth Chris is absolutely outstanding.
Lovely atmosphere, very intimate, friendly and pleasant. We were going to the Barry Manilow concert and got served totally one time.
I had a $100.00 gift certificate which I handed to them as soon as I ordered and they forgot to take it off and I did not notice when I signed the check, so when I arrived home there was a message that they had noticed and they were taking off the $100.00. I was very happy about that.
I have eaten at Ruth’s Chris many times at several locations. The food is ALWAYS fantastic - make sure to leave room for their cheesecake which is the best I have EVER had. Unfortunately the server we had ( I think her name was Melissa) was not good at all. She has served us before and I thought maybe she was just having an off night. She was exactly the same. Zero personality and not efficient either. I can overlook one of the two but not both. I also watched her thinking maybe it was just us- nope she seemed to treat everyone with the same dead serious look on her face. She seems miserable and it tainted the experience. We wound up asking the bus boy for everything to avoid her, he was great. . Again, I’ve been a server and so I get what they go through.
3 of 4 meals were good but the 4th was terrible. They know how to cook steaks but not fish. My wife ordered Chilean sea bass and it arrived uncooked. We sent it back and when it arrived again it was the same piece of fish and still uncooked. We cancelled that order. The staff was very apologetic but it was extremely disappointing for my wife.
I always look forward to coming to Ruth Chris, always consistent....and the best tasting steak, actually the best in the valley. I enjoy the side orders especially the spicy shrimp and the sweet potato casserole. Also they have the best cheesecake ever. Staff is professional and very knowledgeable. Always nice to visit there and bring friends.
I have dined at this location for more than 10 years and last night was like dining in an entirely different restaurant. After making us wait for nearly an hour for a table despite our reservation, they sat us at a large table in the doorway to the kitchen where we were bumped into continuously. After threatening to leave, we finally were seated at a table for four, more than an hour after our reservation. At that point, things went down hill. The floor around the table was littered with food and dirty silverware and my wife's chair was covered in butter. The service was incredibly slow (so slow, in fact, that the busboys cleared our table thinking we had already had our entrees when we had only receive a plate of bread) and the restaurant then began to run out of dishes on the Thanksgiving menu. Although our server was apologetic and offered an appetizer on the house, our evening was pretty much ruined at this point. When we finally received our food, it was cold and mediocre at best. The manager did step up and pick up our dinner, however, I have serious concerns about ever returning to this location. I do not know if the restaurant is under new management or whether they were simply overwhelmed. Regardless, we had come to expect a lot more from this restaurant and were terribly disappointed that they ruined our Thanksgiving dinner.
We have frequented Ruth’s Chris restaurants in many states and have historically received excellent service and enjoyed top notch food. Unfortunately this thanksgiving, we received very poor service and were disappointed for the first time in the presentation of the food. Our issues were as follows:
1. Reservation was at 6. We were not seated until 6:45 and did not receive are starters until 7:30.
2. The delays were not well communicated to us and it was left to us to seek out the service team to get any update.
3. When the meals were delivered, it was apparent that the some of the entrees has been waiting as they were not the temperature expected.
4. When the bill arrived, the waiter had over charged us an entire meal. It was corrrected after it was pointed out.
Given this was our thanksgiving meal, it was especially disappointing to receive such poor service.
It has taken me over 4 weeks to address my concern with you due to extreme frustration we incurred at your Palm Desert, CA.
This past Thanksgiving was our third visit for such dinner at the same location. First year was great. Second year the restaurant ran out of the turkey dinner leftover packages. This past year, it just got worse.
Made reservation for 6:00 and finally got a table at 6:35. People were lined up in the lobby and outside when we arrived at about 5:30. It was clear the restaurant was over booked.
The restaurant was clearly crowded and under staffed. We placed our turkey dinner order and almost 25 minutes later we got our salads which we didn't eat much of because they were not chilled but more like room temperature.
Another 20 or 30 minutes later we are still waiting for the main entrée and by now, it is getting close to 7:45 pm. It got to a point where we asked to speak to the manager. We where beyond upset. We ended up getting up from the table after asking for the ticket to pay the bill.
We've been to multiple Ruth's Chris locations around the U.S, (Honolulu, Atlanta, New York, Portland, San Diego, just to name a few and we ear at these places many times throughout the year. However, we will never return to the Palm Desert location.
So in the end, we did not have a Thanksgiving Dinner and it was too late in the evening to go anywhere else without a reservation.
We’ve been going to Ruth’s Chris for over 15 years back home and over 3 years here in the valley. Over the years we have dined at a Ruth’s Chris likely over 200 times. While the service was very good, our experience last Friday was quite disappointing. There are numerous locals who have also expressed disappointment with the food quality, preparation, and check/receipt issues since the recent change in ownership/management. We hope the new owners/managers will recognize the issues and bring the standards back up to what we know it can be.
Ambience was really good service was attentive. Steaks were really good side dishes were excellent. Loved the roasted brussel sprouts tossed with honey and bacon and the fire roasted corn. Makes us want to make them. Cocktails were DELICIOUS. We had the New York strip and the ribeye. Perfectly cooked.
