Ruth's Chris Steak House - Northbrook Ratings and Reviews
Have eaten at this location several times. Service was just average, steaks seemed not as tasty or tender as before. In defense I didn't mention it to the server. Lobster special with steak was very good for the value. Desserts were average. I just compared it to other times when we have eaten there.
Hubby and I have enjoyed Thanksgiving at Ruth's Chris Northbrook multiple times. From the excellent parking valet (offers his arm to enter restaurant, has car warmed and waiting as we walk out of restaurant before we present claim check) to the fabulous service, food (we were sent home with 2 additional sets of "leftovers-turkey, gravy, stuffing, sweet potato casserole that is more like dessert" in addition to the uneaten portion of turkey from our plates, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We highly recommend this restaurant!
I always enjoy going to Ruth Chris. However, we brought three guests each celebrating special occasions and we were seated at a table right by the Kitchen. I was slightly embarrassed as I told them how nice Ruth Chris was and probably could have used a traffic light right by us. Instead of cramming people in the restaurant, they should remove that table and the one stuck by the wall that seated two people. It was not an enjoyable dinner as I expected.
My ribeye steak was intitially served to me rare when I asked for it to be medium, so the waiter took it back into the kitchen to be cooked more. When the waiter returned about 10 minutes later to the table with my steak, it was over cooked to well done; just ruined my whole experience. I did not bring up my complaint to the waiter because I was more disappointed with the meal then upset about the price I paid.
We are raising a grandchild who is always with us for our "dates" so when someone offered to babysit for my birthday weekend we jumped at the chance and wanted to pick somewhere special. Ruth Chris made us feel special / the ambience, the food and especially the service. Had a very sweet server - don't remember her name. My birthday dinner was special. Thanks!
I'm never disappointed with the service or food here. It always exceeds my expectations, though I visit often. It is expensive, but never disappoints. Perfect for a special occasion. It is my go to place for birthdays, anniversaries or just because I want a special dinner.
Had a fantastic birthday dinner. Our server, Kyle, was personable, witty and knowledgeable about everything on the menu and some items not on menu. Highly recommend the seafood tower! The quality was excellent. Steaks and lamb chops were cooked exactly as expected.
We arrived early so were at the bar for sometime and this was the best part of the evening. They had some nice drinks and I loved the Pomegranate martini.
I was not impressed by the dinner as the waiter at our table was not very presentable for a Steakhouse. He even said some the items were not good. I had ordered lamb chops with a lobster tail and I never got my lobster tail. Also the meat I received was very chewy.
Overall, our experience was "fine". We stopped into the bar while waiting for our table. It took 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Once seated, we had 2 servers who were acting as a tag team. We had the small seafood tower for an appetizer. It was good. I've had a lot of jumbo shrimp in my life and these were by far the best. About 30 minutes after we finished the tower, our steaks came. They never brought the salad that we ordered. Maybe that's the fault of the tag team format. It was VERY disappointing to have them forget that course, especially in that calibre of restaurant. Regardless, our 11oz filets were extremely tender. Creamed spinach and shoestring fries were delicious. Worth the price? Eh, maybe. Though, I expect better service at a restaurant like that.
We went here for our 20th anniversary. I had noted in my reservation that we were celebrating. We were seated at a table decorated with heart confetti and wished happy anniversary by all of the wait staff and received a happy anniversary dessert. Food was delicious. It's pricey but worth it for something so special. Wait staff was very nice too.
We took our friends to thank them for work they did for us. The steaks were good but the special was horrible. The server highly recommended the veal chop and when it arrived I was embarrassed. It was visibly very fatty and our guest said so as well..bad choice
Otherwise food was good, arrived piping hot and portions large..
As always, Ruth Chris doesn't disappoint. The food, service and atmosphere were perfect. In addition, I told them I was taking out my cousin for her birthday and they decorated the table with cute sparkles for the occasion. Everyone wished her a happy birthday. And included a treat at the end of the meals. They went out of their way to make it a special occasion!
We haven’t been to Ruth Chris in many years. Overall, the dinner experience was outstanding. I had the cowboy ribeye which was cooked to my liking. My wife had the crab cakes and my son had buttered pasta. The service was good and we look forward to returning more often.
The server was inattentive to our table, the food came out cold, the steaks were not prepared to the right temperature, and worst of all, after they comped the desserts, they didn't do anything special for my wife's bday. We sent several of the steaks back and they came out worse the second time!! It was very bad and unlike prior experiences at the restaurant. The manager was nice but I don't think he handled it well. The whole thing was a big enough disaster that he probably should have invited us back for a do-over. I didn't want to make a scene in front of my guests but I am even more upset this morning.
We have chosen Ruth Chris as our anniversary celebration for the past 2 years and they don't disappoint. We had a bit of a challenge in the beginning because they put us right next to the bus station, high traffic area which was a HUGE disappointment when we had clearly indicated what we were looking for when we made the reservation. After a small battle with host staff, we had a wonderful evening. Seafood was very good.. we feel that steakhouses usually have great seafood and we were not disappointed. Cocktails and wine were great and our dessert was wonderful. Note to restaurant: If someone is dropping $200, give them a table where they ask, without attitude!
Had problems with both steaks... had to wait 5 minutes for someone/anyone to come. Ribeye was so tough, server suggested switching to a filet mignon.Even that wasn’t very good. Got to eat cold potatoes with that. Eat here often... not usually a bad experience.
Just Outstanding! From the moment we walked in we felt the warmth of the staff. Our dinner was prepared perfectly; as if the chef was cooking just for us. as always, the service was extremely professional and catered our every need. Buntit went out of his way to make our evening enjoyable.
Our thanks to Ruth's Chris and for employing the right management (Brady) to run this place with such high efficiency.

Took mom out for her 88th birthday. Ruth's Chris was always her and our dad's favorite place. Steaks are outstanding and their ensemble meals are a great value. The staff do an excellent job of making sure your water glass is always full and that your food arrives on time, together and hot. I had a 16 oz. ribeye that was done to perfection, along with creamed spinach and a fine Caesar salad. It doesn't get much better than this.
