Ruth's Chris Steak House - New Orleans Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten here before and had fabulous experiences. This time was disappointing. The service was slow and virtually non-existent. Our medium rare steak came out raw and our waiter told us that looked like “their medium rare”. Shocking since one of our steaks came out right and the other didn’t (both medium rare). Also we ate there before and know what medium rare is. Disappointed that he thought to lie instead of just say - sorry and take it back. They also just “re cooked” the steak we sent back. Not what you expect from “fine dining”. The dessert - apple pie cheesecake - was so incredibly inedible that we left it virtually untouched. Go to the Ruth’s in Metairie and save yourself the disappointment of what is now a sub-par Ruth’s where they no longer know what they are doing and are turning into a tourist trap - not something that is appealing when you are a local.
We typically visit Ruth’s around two times per year and have always enjoyed it. Our last visit on 2/14 was just not very good. The service was top notch as usual but we found the food to be very subpar. We purchased a gift card for our friends for Christmas and they ate in January and said it was not that good and we were surprised because it was one of our favorite places. On our last visit, the steaks were not seasoned well, our stuffed mushrooms were not cooked all the way, so the mushrooms were still hard and the brussel sprouts were semi-charred and dry. The two lobster tails that came with the filet were very good! Overall, for $170 (no alcohol), we were disappointed, especially compared to previous visits. Not sure what changed, but it seems something has.
We have been eating at Ruth-Chris for the last 6 years on MardiGras night with fellow walking club members and this was the first time we have had such bad service. We ordered drinks and they never came, our waitress must have been over booked, she couldn't keep up with her tables, took a long time to get dinner and then desert and coffee ... We had food leftover and asked that it get boxed up, of course every ones food was mixed up in wrong bags. What a mess.... Next year we will be eating at the Chopp House.
Service seems to be always lacking in this particular Ruth’s Chris. We walked up at our reservation time and 3 hostesses at the entrance were more interested in completing their conversation about the Mardi Gras parades then simply acknowledging our presence. At least one could have stated “We’ll be right with you” - ignored as if we were not even there. Our server initially was polite and timely, even fetching a different vintage of the wine we wanted. However, as the meal went on and the restaurant started to empty, his focus was more on talking to another waiter and watching TV then checking on our dessert order (which took over 20 mins) and a reminder that we still did not receive it. The food was good, not great. Good cuts of steak, but a little lacking that typical Ruth’s flavor. I think next time I’ll spend my $300 elsewhere.
I had a reservation for 8:30p. I showed up at 8:15 with my party and waited until 9:10 to be seated. The waiter was unfriendly. He spilled my drink and didn’t even pick the ice up off my table. He did bring me another and charged me for it. He didn’t keep the table clean. We ran out of bread. Served us on the wrong side... I can go on. It wasn’t a good experience!
Overall we had a great experience (Saturday 3 Feb 2018). The Hostest on duty that day was great! Very patient and accommodating considering our last minute change. Very grateful and happy with the staff, food, and service (Joe our server was great). Would certainly come back on our next visit to NOLA (inside Harrah's)
We went there to specifically to eat at Ruth's Chris, as every time were're in NO we make it our business to eat there. However, this time the food was horrible!!! The steak (which my daughter ordered) was burned "BLACK", the sauteed spinach was soooo salty, it was not eatable!!!! I had the BBQ Shrimp surrounded by watered down mashed potatoes, which I could not eat!!!. The waiters were very nice, as well as the manager. We did not have to pay for the food, but it was truly unbelievable that they would serve food that way. Because this was our first bad experience, I'm willing to give them another chance when we go back to NO, however not too soon. The best thing was the Bread Pudding with the Amaretto Sauce, and the Margarita! When ever we're in NO, this is the only place we eat... never a problem! We came all the way from Buffalo, NY to have a terrible experience!
The hostesses were very rude some of my guests didn’t show up and I let them know and they seat d me 45 minuets after my reservations. I didn’t understand why because if at first it was a party of 12 and only 6 people showed up. They were very rude and unprofessional
Our waiter was overwhelmed with a large party n we only saw him in passing r he stopped at our table to drop off drinks and our food took a long time to arrive at our table and once we received our food my broccoli was cold. I was a little aggravated because my husband and I visit the restaurant sometimes and this was our first bad experience.
