Ruth’s Chris Steak House – Toronto Airport Ratings and Reviews
The old Square One location had much better service and appetizers. Very slow service here. Steaks were perfect, but the calamari was extra salty, and the shrimp voodoo was dry.
Never had a single bad thing to say about the food and service at the old location after years of going there.
This new location looked much nicer, but was cheapened by using patio chairs for the dining experience. Patio chairs at the dining table!
This was my first time at Ruth's Chris Steak House. While the food was very good and the waiting staff was friendly, there was constant mistakes in the orders and there wait time to correct the errors was long. Not what I would expect from a five star restaurant.
Had dinner at the new location by Toronto International airport. The atmosphere is elegant and quiet - perfect for having conversation. We were seated by the kitchen entrance so there was some waiter traffic going by the table regularly. The main dining room is free of this distraction.
There were 4 adults and 1 child in our party. We all had the tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection. All side dishes were tasty and complimented the meat dishes nicely. Services was excellent, - both our waiters were prompt and courteous.
The service is terrible. From the moment we walked in to check with the hostess, then waiting for our reserved table, then waiting at the bar for us to have our order taken. Our waiter st the table was good, but the time it took from our appetizers to entree was ridiculous. The food and desserts were fantastic, except for the salad. You would expect a much fresher and pleasant looking Caesar salad.
Overall worst Ruth’s Chris we have ever been to and we have been to many different ones. They definitely need to improve on their service.
Good steak, limited wine list, expensive. Everything was great until I went to get my car out of the parking lot. I could not get out of the gate, had to park the car again, go into the hotel to find the machine to pay for parking, pay $25. For a bottle of wine, bottle of sparkling water, 2 steaks, I mashed potato to share, and 2 coffee's plus tip $400. To much, sorry
They say good things must always come to an end. It’s a very sad day when I’m no longer able to express my feelings of love for Ruth’s Chris. My recent visit will be my last. It’s not me Ruth, it’s you.
A word of advice, if you’re considering Ruth’s Chris, the only option should be the downtown location. We’ve been burned may times with the other GTA locations and tonight was another example of that.
This location itself lacks the ambiance and atmosphere you get with the traditional Steak house feel you get from the downtown location. It’s very nice and modern but it’s far from a Ruth’s Chris.
Our waiter was very nice but again lacked the years of experience that would accompany staff from their Toronto location.
Although this may seem trivial, the “free bread” at the beginning of the meal was disappointing. I know I sound like a broken record but doesn’t compare to the “other” location I’ll keep referencing.
We started off with a calamari appetizer that was so sweet, it reminded me of a Chinese take out dish. It’s a definite pass.
Now, I know I’m not exaggerating when I say this. When you go to a steak restaurant that charges close to $100 per steak, you expect it to be absolutely perfect. Unfortunately tonight BOTH of our steaks were extremely under done. The lack of follow through on the restaurant side was also extremely poor. Choosing to re-heat our steaks vs making new ones was a poor decision. When the “new” steaks came back, they lacked that “$100 steak feel”’. Felt as though I was eating leftovers the very next day. We did speak to a manager that seemed way too inexperienced to be working at a fine establishment like RC. We were offered another appetizer (pass) and some sparkling wine. We’re both non drinkers but whatever, thanks for the “nice gesture”.
Getting the bill was a huge kick in the nuts. All items ordered were there as if we had the ideal experience.
My dear Ruth, I think it’s time we see other people...
Steak exceptional, wine list good, Coffee ice cold had to replace with fresh coffee still charged me $5.00 per coffee very expensive, main course came out of kitchen before we finished appetizers had to send them back waiter did not apologize for this managers nowhere to be seen, disappointing!!
The price fix menu on the last page is a great deal. The steak was the best we’ve ever tasted - and we travel the world trying dishes from every continent. I highly recommend the Petit Filet with shrimp, the creamed spinach and the lobster fried rice. Dessert was fair - but who needs dessert when the salad, main and side dishes were plentiful.
As Sylvester Stallone would say, “I’ll be back!”
After waiting (seated) for more than 30 minutes, I finally had to go in search of a server to get a drink/wine list. Ordered my steak medium-rare...was medium-WELL. The steaks for two of my guests was also cooked incorrectly. Total was $700 for 4 of us for dinner with business clients. They were the most friendly when they handed me the Visa machine. I have been to the Ruth's by Square One many times...but won't go back to this one. The Keg is a much better value.
Dining at Ruth's Chris was a 'bucket list' item and I was not disappointed. The meal was beyond delicious. I dined with my son we were celebrating his 32nd birthday and my retirement on April 1st. If I start saving now I'll be able to go again in 2 1/2 years for my 65th birthday. Looking forward to it!
We were given a gift card for Ruth's Chris by our daughter. She paid only $70 for $100 cards at Costco. Having been to their extremely overpriced spot in Niagara Falls, we knew that we were in for an expensive meal.
We arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation time, and there was no hostess at the desk. She arrived shortly, said nothing to us, grabbed two menus and told us to follow her. I asked her if she always greeted her guests in silence to which she apologized, thinking we were another couple. Not a good start to a supposed first class restaurant.
She led us to a table right next to an empty 8 person table; when I asked if a large group were expected, she said "yes, but much later" (of course, they arrived just as we were starting dinner).
While the menu included $17 cocktails and $10 draft, they did have several summer specials. The small filet and 3 shrimp combo at $57 met our needs perfectly - nicely cooked on their always super-hot plates.
Our server Andrew, was the saving grace of the evening, He was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive to our needs - the best. When and if we go again, we will ask to be seated in his area.
We love Ruth's Chris. We were celebrating our anniversary. The greeter walked us through the restaurant passed many quiet dinning areas, to a open room at the back of the building. This room was set for a large party and we were sat beside a family dining. Not quite the quiet dinner out we hd planned to celebrate our anniversary. On our way out we advised them we were not happy with our table. They apologized and told us the A/C was not performing well in the front half of the dinning area, so they put us in the larger room where the A/C was working. Once we know the reason for our table, it made sense. Maybe if we were told about the A/C malfunction when we arrived, and a complimentary something , would have been nice. The food was excellent, along with the service. We did enjoy our evening out together.

Lobster bisque was too salty. Side dish mushroom was also too salty. Filet mignon and Lamb chops were very tasty and tender but a bit too heavy on the butter. Food presentation was extremely poor. Plates were too small and not wiped clean around the perimeter. Looked very messy. Service was polite and adequate but lack interaction and friendly smiles with customers. Atmosphere was ok, nothing fancy. Just like an old-school steak house with a slight face lift. All that for $270 for 2 people was not worth the money. 2nd time at Ruth's Chris and this was definitely the last time. I would say even The Keg or Canyon Creek are better in very category, let alone comparing Ruth's Chris to other high end restaurants.
The restaurant is completely out of date in atmosphere and food selection. The steaks are drowned in butter and the vegetable selection remains in the 80's. It's completely old school. Zero value to the price point. There are so many wonderful restaurants in the GTA it's a shame RC isn't aware of its competition. I'm ok with a $300 meal if it's worth it. RC is a fail.
Our waiter Manny was terrific and very helpful. There was 5 of my family there and one of the steaks was under done for well done however it was taken care of right a way. Also the wine my wife asked for was out of stock however Jesse the Manager made the effort to go to the local lcbo and obtain a bottle which I thought was outstanding dedication to service. He also provided a free glass of that wine for my son's fiance to try as she had never tried it before. All in all it was terrific service and the night was very enjoyable outside of one table of folks who must have thought they were at Swiss Chalet and we're loud and whopping it up. Not appropriate for that calibre of a restuarant. Thanks and we will be back soon!!
We had a good time there, but having an European background we thought the food was not so balanced. It was properly cooked, but also over seasoned, salty. It's very strange when a dish comes with no vegetables at all, not even for decoration. You have to ask it separately, which is not nutritious.
The waiters were kind and fast, but they kept coming back to the table all the time, interrupting our conversation, apologizing for mistakes we didn't notice and thanking for our patience even if we didn't feel like waiting longer than usual. It gives the impression the chef and the waiters are not that confident about their service.
Ruth Chris Restaurant provides free parking. The decor is nice and the restaurant is impressive.
The service was a bit on the slow side and one group of 4 could be heard laughing and talking loud, but the rest of the guests were mature grown up people, respectful of others.
The best part is the food. Their steaks are cooked nicely and just melt in your month . The place is a bit pricey but provides a good value.
Food was absolutely wonderful except the Brussels sprouts were rubbery. We had a wide assortment of food and we were pleased and full after. I hear they are moving the Missisauga location so I hope it's a tad brighter with the romantic mood. Was a bit hard to see the menu as it was a bit dark. Nice touch bringing a peice of lovely chocolate cake for the birthday girl.
