Ruth's Chris Steak House - Minneapolis Ratings and Reviews
Service was excellent. Food was not. Ordered their bone in filet and surf and turf. Filet was slightly overdone but quality of meat was not as expected for price point. Should have been more tender and flavorful. Same comment on sirloin with surf and turf. Lobster was fine. We both normally get better cuts of meat at much lower cost restaurants.
My wife and I come here every thanksgiving for the last four years. Service and food are usually amazing however, for some reason, it was subpar. We may need to look for an alternative establishment next year. That said I still recommend Ruth’s Chris to anyone that wants a great steak.
Ruth's Chris remains one of the best restaurants in town, in spite of the fact that they are a chain. Their Thanksgiving special is no exception. I normally have the petite filet mignon, but we dined on Thanksgiving. It was wonderful. The pumpkin cheesecake was to die for. Pricey? Yes. But worth every penny.
We were in the middle of moving so had to spend Thanksgiving alone without our family. We decided to treat ourselves to a lovely dinner at Ruth Chris. It was delicious and beautifully served. There were 3 courses, salad, turkey dinner and dessert. There was way too much food so had left overs for the next day. We can always rely on a fabulous dinner at Ruth Chris, they have it all, ambience, high quality delicious food and outstanding service. I only have one little complaint; a manhattan with a call bourbon was $16.50. Even for a really nice restaurant that seems a little high.
The food is good, but not worth the prices charged. Mashed potatoes are plain old grainy russets. Steaks are good, but not any better than you can get at other places. Little to nothing that is original. Best thing was a butternut squash soup with great flavors, but arrived warmish. Servers are spectacular, but the place is past date and trading on it's old reputation.
Everything was wonderful other than the seating. I had indicated on the reservation that
it was a special 70th Birthday. Upon arrival we were seated right next to the busy traffic
on a little table for two coming out of the kitchen. In other words, as soon as they saw it
was two women, we were seated at the worst table in the restaurant. It immediately
put a bad taste in my mouth for the entire evening. I mean REALLY!!!!! We spent $150
at the restaurant just like any other attendees.
The Good - Waitress was awesome - The ambiance was perfect - The music was low, muted - pleasant, everything was elegant. I walked in and fell in love with the place.
The Bad -
EXPENSIVE! The steaks were good but were they $60 ea. good, no. Wife and I went with a $100 gift card that we were given. Even with that our bill was $150 (that's ON TOP of the gift card). With a 20% tip that means our dinner was just shy $300. I wish I could say we had wine and/or champagne but we each had one cocktail and split a third. Everything is ala carte - we ordered the hash browns to split. We had one appetizer and one side. That's just too rich for my blood for a meal for two.
Our experience was great, once we were able to get a new table. Initially, our group of 4 was seated in the very back of the restaurant looking at a wall. In addition, next to us was a large table of other diners who were having a good time and very noisy, plus another table of 4 who told us they were going to be noisy. The restaurant was not nearly full, so I asked if we could possibly be moved to a booth or some place quieter so we could hear each other talk. The manager was very helpful and seated us in a quiet 3 seated booth near the front of the restaurant. The noise level immediately went way down and that made our evening so much more fun. Our meals were all wonderful and we had a great, if expensive, experience. If we had remained at our original table, my review would have been much different
The service was amazing and the special attention they gave to our group was special from the moment we arrived !! The bad part was thAt two of our groups steaks were made wrong and had to be recooked . They did make it right and the manager came over to say sorry. Overall it was a special evening
I made reservations for our 26th anniversary tow or three weeks ago and when we arrived, we were seated in an overflow seating area, this was not acceptable as it was noisy, bright and not what I've ever experienced at this restaurant. We were able to get moved into the main dining room but then had to wait for 30 minutes until our drinks arrived. At his point, our server Jesse basically saved our night as I was ready to walk out. He apologized, was upfront and explained what happened and made sure the rest of the evening went fantastic. he comped our first round of drinks and made sure we received a anniversary themed dessert. The food, as always, was good. We've been coming here for years so it was disappointing how the evening started. There are many fine dining options in Minneapolis so experience is key.
This was our first time dining there. We heard it was famous and well known. I expected a delicious steak instead my well done steak was burnt and tasteless. I didn't expect to use steak sauce at a place like this. I enjoyed the salad and the service was good. We spent a lot of money for what we got.
Good food and service. Me and my husband went for a Saturday dinner after a long week at work. We got asked by several staff 5 times if we were celebrating our Anniversary that night. We were not even dressed fancy for them to think that we are celebrating an occasion. We had a good laugh about it joking to each other that maybe we look like we can only afford to dine there only on special occasions. Being asked 5 times felt weird at the end of the night. I would indicate in my reservation info if I am going to a place to celebrate an event at the time I would book for dinner.
