Ruth's Chris Steak House - Louisville Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit to this restaurant for New Year's Eve. Our server was exceptionally polite and skilled. The food was simply amazing. The ambiance was a little too energetic, but it being a holiday, it was understandable. However, the wait past our reservation time was a little too long.
The evening started on a bad note. Our reservations were for 9:45 but we were not seated until 10:45. However, it was NYE, but nevertheless I could expect a 15 minute delay, but one hour delay???
Once we were seated, we were given a free appetizer and also received a free dessert. In addition, we were also treated to a champagne toast at midnight!
We have been customers of this restaurant for sometime and have several years now attended on our anniversary we were celebrating our 36th and were very disappointed in a couple of things in this visit
First the steaks we ordered (petite filet) were certainly not up to last visits and the alacarte pricing is getting ridiculous ie; coffee 3.50/per cup and tea 3.25 and we usually get one desert for my wife (berries) no cream but this time it was added to our bill for $9.50
Guess Ruth Cris doesn't want not need our business
I don't mind paying for good food but hate the feeling that I have been fleeced
We frequent the Ruth Chris steakhouse in Louisville, Ky. We have had a great meal the majority of the times we have been there, however this time the food was not as good as normal and the server and helper we had wasn’t that good. When you go to a place of this magnitude you pay top dollar for the quality of the food, it’s taste, and for the service. Both the food and service should be top notch but this visit wasn’t up to par. After pay nearly $300 for a single meal we left kind of blah. We didn’t complain we just sucked it up and figured we write a review and see where this goes. Usually a fine place to have a meal but on occasion they dont get it right and that is not acceptable.
Had a 7:15pm reservation on Christmas Eve 2017. Normally we are seated right away, but they were either overbooked or had several large parties booked at the same time and as a result, the waiting and bar area was standing-room only and very crowded. As they are one of the few high-end dining options open on Christmas Eve in the Louisville area, I understand they tend to be busy, however our table was not ready until 7:45 and we were squeezed against the walls trying to allow people to pass through while we waited. Once seated, the food and service were very good. Not complaints except for the delay being seated and cramped waiting.
Great spot but more than an hour wait with a long term reservation was not acceptable. Our server moriah was awesome and made up for as much as she could. Unfortunately, our friends could not wait and had to head elsewhere last minute for Christmas Eve for dinner. Very embarrassing and not acceptable. Surprisingly, no manager came by to apologize, acknowledge or even offer a drink. For a 300$ dinner for 2 this was certainly not as well done as it usually has been and to not acknowledge the issue made it worse. Very difficult for our friends to have to find a last minute option.
Room was much warmer than the others, table next to us was very loud, enough so to prevent our normal conversation, two of our 3 steaks were riddled with gristle and fat making them 30% wasted.
Historically had been excellent but went through a long period of several years where same problems made us not come. These problems were corrected 2 years ago but are back again. We will no longer take the chance
At these prices and with this experience a primarily beef restaurant must be able to consistently serve a properly prepared and excellent product without fail
The occasion was actually a birthday… I expected that since I selected birthday for the reservation, that somebody would have asked upon check-in who’s birthday? I expected perhaps something special We sat at a table in the bar area as we have times past, except this time the some other restaurant patrons were in tennis shoes and hoodies and workout clothes... I thought the restaurant had a dress code, even if they were sitting in the bar but I was shocked. And then one of those patrons got into a argument on his cell phone and had to be reprimanded by the restaurant manager… Should’ve been kicked out in my opinion but… if I had wanted that type of ambience, I would have booked my reservation at BW3…Will most likely not be going back anytime soon.
Service was horrid. Had to ask for bread 3 times. When it finally arrived it was hard and tasted stale. Our appetizers were good. My sons wedge salad came with a wedge of lettuce and a dollop of bleu cheese dressing. Had to ask for the bacon and wait about 15 minutes. Steaks were good as always. The broccoli was so hard I am not sure it was even cooked. They didn’t offer to take our picture. We have been dining there for at least the past 15 years for my husband’s birthday and this was very disappointing.
Have been to this Ruth's Chris location many times and have always enjoyed the food/service. There definitely seems a bit of a different feel to the restaurant and would say that the service was just too pushy for this level of restaurant. (coming back to the table over and over to take our order after repeatedly being told we have yet to pick up the menu, coming to take the plates while we are still eating, etc.). They are also seemingly changing the menu as well and have tightened their hours. Ruth's Chris is a 5 star steak house, keep yourself there, watch how your staff treats its customers, its not a diner or fast food, people are coming (and paying) for the experience and need to leave feeling like they just experienced a wonderful meal. Update the presentation of your steaks if you want to make a change, re-think the sizzling plate (might seem novel, really does lead to over cooking of the meat) and at this location be very careful. There is a wonderful view, train your staff to encourage the patrons to enjoy their evening and have your staff trained such that they are less in a hurry or stressed out and more enthusiastic about their job, serving the food and how proud they are to work there. Hope this helps, will be back, just hope something is not slipping!!
This was our first visit and it won’t be our last. The food was great. But I must say I’ve been to most better restaurants in the Louisville area, and the service at Ruth’s Chris was outstanding! They were very helpful and made us feel comfortable We’ve experienced snooty staff at other restaurants but the staff we encountered treated us as if they were truly happy to serve us. Kudos 😊
I am not very happy with this Ruth Chris steak house as I am writing this survey, On Thanksgiving day I went to eat at Ruth Chris and I had a issues where I made my reservation for 7:30 pm and somehow they confuse my time and I had to wait an hour to eat, Where the manager took care of us and he was very professional, After I was done with my Thanksgiving dinner I asked him to make me a reservation for December 24 at 7:30 pm and he came to my table and confirmed me that my reservation was done, Well Yesturday I went to Ruth Christ and Loreta was at the counter I gave her my name and she told me that she could not find me at all, By the way VERY RUDE Shame on you Loreta, She just acted like she didnt care at all if we didnt eat or not or the Circumstances of the issue, Just told me that she could not find my reservations for 12/24/2017 At 7:30 Pm, I ask her to please call the manager that was on duty Thanksgiving night and ask him because he confirmed my reservation for the December 24, She told me no that she would call the a manager that was on shift and to me he looked like the kitchen manager, Where he just didn't give a crap either, Put me on a table near the bar, Where was very loud waiter was very rude where I didn't get what I planned not even an apology from them, I will never again return to this place, This is not the first time is twice that happened to me and my cousin I fell like I have been discriminated for the second time. NEVER AGAIN.
There are several topshelf steak places. Ruth's Chris is my favorite because of the consistent quality. Great steak is great steak, but when all of the appetizers and side dishes match the prime quality of the steak, you know you are going to enjoy an excellent meal.
We showed up five minutes early for a 7:45 pm reservation, and were told to wait in the bar, where no seats were available. Thirty-five minutes later, we asked how much longer before our table was ready, and we were told that there were six people in front of us, and it would be at least 30 more minutes. After conferring with our guests, we told Ruth’s Chris that we were leaving. They didn’t seem very apologetic. Something is seriously wrong with their reservations system if this can happen.
