Because of a staff shortage, it wasn't quite the FIVE-STAR experience that we're used to at Ruth's Chris. However, Christopher did an awesome job (like always).
We went for my mother’s 85th birthday. They could not have been nicer. They sprinkled fresh rose petals on our table as we sat down. The service was perfect and well paced. We never felt rushed. Food was exceptional as always. It’s our go to restaurant for special occasions.
Started off very slow, we waited at the table for about 10 min for anyone to acknowledge that we were sitting there. Then the waitress came over and asked if she could start us with a drink while filling up our water. The drinks took about another 15 min. Our appetizers came before our drinks came. The spicy shrimp was good the crab cake was mediocre, it needed a sauce. The menu wasn’t very well explained, the only recommendation was the filet really. It was ok but we all got truffle butter which had a smell like gasoline/propane and was completely liquid normally I’ve seen it either on the steak or on the side but not in a bowl runny. Everyone else’s steaks were not done to their standards. My son ordered a bone in strip medium and it was more like medium rare. My husband ordered the cowboy medium and it was still purple. My sis in law ordered the filet medium it was very purple as well. The bread was good and the lobster Mac and cheese was good which towards the end of our dinner the manager came around telling us that they are getting rid and replacing it with truffle butter Mac and cheese. So your getting rid of the best thing on the table! Wow…. We knew we shouldn’t have swayed away from Jeff Ruby’s but we got a gift card for Xmas and thank goodness because I would’ve been mad if I paid full price, very overpriced for quality of food.

Unlike the recent reviews over the past month, this was an excellent experience. Attentive, but unobtrusive service. 11 ounce filets cooked to perfection (1 medium rare; 1 medium). Filets came out sizzling. Ruth's Chris preparation of its filets outpaces its national rivals like Morton's and regional stalwarts like Jeff Ruby's. Veuve Clicquot Champagne stock was out (probably owing to the Holidays and New Year's). Alternative of a massively overpriced (3.5 times retail -- hardly surprising for a steakhouse) domestic Roederer Estate Brut was crisp and refreshing. Only "surprise" for the evening was that the bread was delivered, one piece eaten, then summarily taken away 15 minutes before the filets arrived.
Overall a wonderful experience -- as it should be for a bill of $290 for 2 filets, a bottle of excellent California sparkling, with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes.
Wife’s initial steak was way overcooked. Replacement was perfect and they were out of her favorite dessert!
2nd poor experience. Thought last time was a fluke. Bread was stale and cold. Fries were soggy and cold. Steak was just mediocre. Filets were unevenly cooked, fatty, and had a lot of tendons. Plate didn’t seem as hot as it was in the past. Something has changed at Ruth Chris Louisville. I don’t recommend it. There are much better fine dining options to settle for bad experiences.

Excellent service and food
Fantastic food and service!! Steak came out bubbling with butter!! I can still smell the BUTTER. Service people went above and beyond. In this world of hard to find workers the service industry has took a huge hit. I can tell that this group of people were working together to keep it together. We had a wonderful time and they made sure of it. Class act as ALWAYS!
Food was superb!! Bathrooms were gross and run down. Service great!

Table we sat ate was blowing air conditioning and was extremely cold. Service was horrible. Waited 45 minutes to an hour for our food once we ordered. Side dish was cold when we got it and had to sent it back. Service was horrible. Waitress never checked on us. Waited 30 minutes to get our check once we asked for it. You would think for a $200 meal for 2 people we would get at least decent service. Will not be back.

We had a reservation for 8:15 but waited about thirty minutes to be seated. Bar and table service was slow, but good. My steak was initially underdone, but came back hot and perfect. The food was delicious.
We love eating here but this was a bad night. We found out a lot of staff had called in and they were very under staffed. With knowing this and being regulars we expected longer times and maybe hard to get drinks etc... We had good service when it came to getting drinks because we were at a bar table. However the food service and quality that we know and expect were not there. We order fries as an appetizer a literal did not get them for over 45 minutes. My wife asked about them twice to make sure they didn't come out with our food. Luckily they didn't but did come out with the salads that we ordered almost 30 minutes after the fries. Steaks came out about 20 minutes after salad. However we ordered two Cowboy Ribeyes, Ribeye and Lobster tail, and stuff chicken. We got the two meals correct, we got one Cowboy Ribeye that wasn't cooked right and had zero flavor., and we got a T-bone instead of a Ribeye. Our sides were all barely warm but still ok to eat. We finally got all food but it just did not taste like it should and has in the past. I hope they get the staff problem taken care of soon.
We eat here once every month or two and normally have a wonderful experience. This is one of our favorite venues with a great atmosphere but tonight was a major disappointment. Once we sat down, we had to wait quite a bit of time for our drinks and another server actually asked us if we had been waited on yet. Once we got our drinks, I ordered a bottle of wine to be served with dinner and then we ordered salads and main entree. After we received our entrees, the wine never came and we were told a manager should be bringing it shortly. After I had inquired twice where it was I finally canceled the wine because we were almost done with our meal. After we finished, we had to wait over 20 minuted for our dirty plates to be removed. We wanted after dinner drinks/desserts but by the time that could actually happen, we were all so frustrated, we just asked for our check. This is not the experience I expected, nor have had in the past, at a 5 star restaurant where our bill for 6 people was $600 without alcohol because it was never served. Thoroughly disappointed! We will go back but this experience left a bad taste.

Horrible service. They were understaffed and unprepared. Our server was fantastic but she was covering to many tables. The restaurant was not prepared for the start of the evening. It took 15 minutes to be seated when they just opened
My husband and I celebrated our 24th anniversary. Kathleen provided us with amazing service! From the rose petals on our table, excellent food and beautiful atmosphere, we couldn’t have asked for better night out!
Next time I’ll tell them not to sit us by a baby. I’m sorry but it’s very disrespectful for people to bring a baby to an upscale restaurant that doesn’t offer a Childrens menu or high chairs (hint hint) and have the people around them who are paying for an expensive meal listen to their baby cry. Shame on management.

Service was slow. We were there 1 hour and 40 minutes. Water glasses were filled 3 times before entrees were served. However food was wonderful! Worth the wait.
