As usual, this restaurant met my high expectations for food, service, and ambience. For some reason, this time the lighting was a little too high for this type of restaurant. My past experience with Ruth's Chris is a darker ambience. Overall, a good bet for any occasion, when good food and wine are desired.
Thanksgiving here was fantastic. We chose from a pre-fixe menu and the steak was excellent and perfectly prepared. Potatoes and Creamed Spinach and dessert were all compliments to the beef. Always a great place with good predictable quality.
Great wait staff. I gave the ambience 3stars as it was freezing at the table under the AC vents by the windows. We, and other tables, were asking for the AC to be turned up which they tried to accommodate but it was so hot outside it kept kicking back on. Still would return - bring a sweater.
Went for Thanksgiving Dinner and wasn't disappointed. Turkey dinner was great. Included 3 salad options, 3 potato options, turkey, gravy, cranberry relish, dessert and rolls. Tasted terrific. Arrived at reservation time and was immediately seated. Great service especially concerning that the restaurant was packed for the holiday. We didn't feel rushed and the server came back frequently to see that we were doing well and didn't need anything else. At the end of the meal, the waitress gave us each a bag with turkey....saying that it was our "leftovers" for tomorrow. We didn't leave any leftovers on our plates. It appeared that everyone who ordered the turkey Thanksgiving meal was given a take home bag of turkey leftovers for another meal. Great idea! Of course we will be back!
I specifically mentioned that we will be celebrating B-day of our friend and their restaurant old patron . The staff knew him by name. They completely forgot. then they messed up with complimentary photo of him. It was not a special dinner for all us as usual. Disappointed.
The seating in this restaurant is crowded and the aisles between tables are narrow due to the curved wall around the perimeter. This made things seem closed in and claustrophobic. Our waiter failed on several occasions to bring the overpriced wine we ordered (come on, $92 for something that is a $30 bottle, REALLY?). We were thirsty waiting and we did not get our water refilled with glasses going dry on several occasions. Each course was slow to come to the table, including the first round of cocktails and appetizer. My wife ordered a Medium WELL steak and it came "Blue" or Rare at best and her broccoli was cold. She had to send her meal back and they then cooked the steak to well done and we only got back about half of the broccoli sent back and even then it was barely even warmer. My Pork Chop was under cooked and pink. It should have been cooked a bit more and not bloody. One of our deserts was not brought to us and we had to wait for it to come. We ordered after dinner drinks that never came by the time that we were done with our desert so we cancelled that order. There were four of us at the table and combined we spent around $400 or more so we were very, very disappointed and are not sure if we will ever return to Ruth Chris in the future as we feel that the service didn't come close to what is expected, especially for the price you charge. When you charge $44 for JUST THE STEAK you need to be spot on every single time and for the whole meal.
Ruth's Chris is always dependable. Food quality is exceptional. The only complaint I have is that the sides (lobster mac & creamed spinach) came out so hot that they were runny and too hot to enjoy. I suggest they give them a little "rest time" so the pasta has a chance to absorb some of the butter.
