Ruth's Chris Steak House - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
If this had been my only trip to this particular Ruth's Chris, I might not be as eager to return - here is my 3 day review.
I booked reservations for 3 nights in a row for business guests and the first night (Wednesday Dec 6) was spectacular. Our server on Wednesday (Sean) was perfectly on point with every aspect of service. We were seated in the dining room at a nice table and my guests were perfectly taken care of throughout the entire meal. From cocktails at the bar before being seated to walking back out the front door after dinner, everything was exceptional.
On Thursday I was unable to attend, but gave my reservation to clients who reported back that the experience was just the same - excellent as usual.
Friday night I had a 6:45 reservation and we were promptly seated in the bar area by the front door. I now know to request another table location if possible. The table was incredibly cramped and we had to move it in order for one of our party to take his seat. Being close to the door on a cold night is also undesirable as large groups come and go holding the doors open for each other. The bar area is great for drinks, but with the loud conversations and piano fighting for attention it is nearly impossible to have a low key business dinner. Our server on Friday was not exceptional in any way - definitely did not do anything wrong, but also not what would be expected at this location.
I will certainly return again and again as I have for a number of years, but this week was a 2/3 rather than a perfect score for each visit. The above star ratings are strictly for dining on 12/8/17.
Excellent as usual for this location. Our server Sean did a fantastic job of taking care of my guests. This was the first of 3 consecutive nights of reservations that I made for business dinners during the week and by far the best. Outstanding food and service from all the staff we encountered on Wednesday night.
Why anyone would go to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse with St. Elmo's right down the street baffles me. The steaks were good but all other items were ala carte and not exceptional. The sizzle platters with butter were interesting but the steak could have used more seasoning. Chopped salad we split was too small to split. The has brown casserole was interesting and was large enough to split. The dining room where we ate was loud, too loud to carry on a conversation. The wine carried a higher premium than most comparable steak houses.
Always great service but their Thanksgiving menu definitely fell short. Tiny portions and felt like I was eating at a cafeteria rather than a 5 star fancy restaurant. Definitely will not do that again. My date ordered off the regular menu which was stellar as usual.
We had great service and great food. We where there for Thanksgiving with my mom who hates holidays because my dad passed away recently and she’s not at her best. I needed to preface that because the Manager That day was very attentive to her and tried to make her day better even though she had no ide what she was going through. I just wanted to say I appreciated the extra kindness and the free Crëme Brulëë you offered her. Thanks again the Schwegmans
Ruths Chris is just not like it used to be. At this price point it is all in the details, and they just were not there. Little things, like spotted glasses, forgetting a drink order, steak cooked wrong temperature. I expect that at Outback. But, it was not my money being spent, and my dogs enjoyed the leftovers.
We asked for bread 4 times before it was actually brought to our table. Alcoholic beverages did not have much alcohol. I ordered 2 long island iced teas and normally I can't finish one. It was like drinking a Coke. Our guest ordered a gin and tonic and said it was mostly tonic.
My wife and I are celebrating our 18th anniversary and this was the first time we had ever been to one of these restaurants. The food was absolutely amazing they were probably the two best steaks we had ever had. And we would highly recommend the lobster mac and cheese.
Our waiter Pat was very disappointing. I was apart of a party of 6 and every one of us are fine dining servers so we are very aware of the standards of service. Pat never greeted us with a hi or his name or anything, he never told us any features, did not card us and we're only 27, never checked back on us after we had our food, and the one time he chose to speak to us he purposely interrupted the birthday girls toast while she was in tears. Food was good but service was a disaster and upsetting because he made us feel as if we were inconveniencing him for even being there. On a lighter note, the server assistant Lyndon was absolutely amazing. He is a prime example of how a server should interact with their guests. He was always present, crumbed our table, kept our waters full, pre bussed our table, and was very personable with us. I think pat should be reminded that every table should be treated the same, whether they look as if they're millionaires or not.
Thank you to Amy for great service. She wasn't pushy and realized we needed time to visit before selecting something for dinner. The filets were cooked to our liking. The only complaint is I purposely asked to be seated away from the kitchen and got a table right by it.
Music was too loud, to enjoy a business meal. Had we been sat away from the bar, maybe our noise level would have been better. The food was amazing. Had the par deax meal combination for 49.95, which included an appetizer, side, entree and dessert. Great value. I had the 6oz filet w/2shrimp, Caesar salad, succotash and apple "pie" ala mode. Great value.
I had a group of customers out for dinner. There were six of us. Our server was excellent. The drinks were spot on. Our food was excellent. The total experience was 5 star. I look forward to spending another evening at this establishment the next time I am in town. Perfect!
When I booked the reservation it didn't say that Sunday was a brunch buffet... Was very disappointed thought it was menu only.. on open table it didn't say a buffet would have never done that.. The buffet food was just average at best.. Was the 1st and last time for that experience.. Maybe on Sunday before a 1p game maybe could have a small menu... Even the Bloody Mary was awful!! Just wasn't worth the money we paid for it! Won't be back for brunch unless something changes and a small menu is available!!!
