Ruth's Chris Steak House - Greenville Ratings and Reviews
The steaks were cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. Salad was fantastic as well as the crab cakes. The only complaint I have at all was our waiter. He was very forgetful and slow. If we had gotten another waiter, I would have given five stars. I also witnessed the waiter be extremely rude and disrespectful to the bus boy.
Had dinner on valentines here - We previously have been to other Ruth Chris’s. Dinner was extremely slow to be served with no explanation (others received food before us) Room was cold, and they continued to push appetizers, desserts, and drinks - to the point the manager came over to push them! Was the bottle of wine not enough?
Was dissatisfied with seating in the rear of restaurant. No ambiance what so ever. Water waitress was not attentive to detail. At several times she passed my table to fill others without taking a look to see if my table needed any, and I had to ask another waiter for water .
I always enjoy my visit with Ruth Chris. I keep going back because I know what I am getting. I have not been let down yet. If we're going to spend this kind of money for a meal, Ruth Chris steakhouse is where I want to do it. The waiter was very pleasant. We've had this particular waiter three times. I love the prefixed menu also. And the restroom is always kept tidy and smelling nice.
I had heard great things about Ruth’s Chris, but the staff and food exceeded my expectations! We had 4 courses, each phenomenal. The filet mignon is so tender and it was cooked to perfection. The pace of the restaurant is slower, so make sure to leave plenty of time if you have plans after, but this makes for great conversation time with friends or that special someone. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Waited so long before we even got water. Several tables wobbled and tipped. Service was poor and slow. Had to ask for water refill. Ordered the Chilean Seabass which was fishy tasting. Seabass should not be fishy. Mash potatoes were great. Ribeye steak was average and not what we would expect from this restaurant. Creme Brulee and coffee was best part. For what we paid we would expect better service and food.
With all the great steakhouses and restaurants in Greenville, the ala carte menu is not worth the price. The barbeque shrimp appetizer had the smallest shrimp I've seen served in this level restaurant for the money. Atmosphere is always formal and romantic. Service is good but not as high quality as you would expect from a Ruth Chris. No clearing of crumbs and drinks run out before being topped off.
Our server was pretty knowledgeable and gave good advice. Unfortunately we waited 30 minutes for our first drinks after ordering.
The filet mignon (medium) was okay but not as good as I thought it would be. Can definitely not be cut with a fork and is not melting in your mouth as the menu states. The sides were really good.
All in all, everything was okay but a pretty poor value for the money. You can get better food for the same or less at Larkins, Rick Erwin’s or Halls Chophouse.
Ruth Chris standards are exceptional at all locations. The restaurant is our go to place for special occasions. I tired the lamp chops, flavorful and tender. Two dinner companions had the cowboy ribeye, nothing was left.
My only disappointment was the actual table. The table has fold up sides which allow for expanding the table from 4 to a larger group. The fold away sections no longer stay up out of the way but rest on your knees when the table is set for 4 people.
Took my wife to Ruth’s Chris for her Birthday. This was noted when I made the reservation. When we arrived the Birthday was mentioned by the hostess. The waiter never mentioned the special occasion as they have with previous visits. The waiter was average at best and did not give the service we were accustomed to when dining at Ruth’s Chris. I expect a higher caliber wait staff when dining at Ruth’s Chris and paying the prices they charge.
Our meal was good, very flavorful and came out just as it was ordered. However, I felt like our waiter was preoccupied with other tables and since we were your basic seat them, serve and street them customer that we were just another table. He certainly didn't ignore us, but he wasn't overly attentive either. I wanted a cup of coffee to have with my dessert and that was never asked and he only came back by the table to drop off the bill, and then it was too late.
I had the filet, which was very good. My husband had the rib-eye and he said it was good, but didn't seem like "top 2-3% prime" good (he had gristle left on the side of his plate) and our vegetarian daughter had the salmon. She also said it was good, but nothing extra special about it. The salmon only comes a la cart, so for the amount it cost it was not the greatest value. If that had been an option on the prix fixe menu, she would have been happier.
We decided to go to Ruth's Chris because we were in from out of town to visit a family member. Our daughter had never been to a Ruth's Chris and we thought it would be a nice change especially since it was Christmas Eve. I give the whole experience a B-, it wasn't horrible or terrible, it just wasn't the best we've ever had.
We enjoyed a family reunion of sorts and it was quite pleasant. The service, location and overall quality all contributed to make it a very memorable occasion! Family members have already mentioned establishing Ruth's Chris as a regular tradition. Thanks to the entire staff!
Overall, I enjoyed the experience at Ruth' Chris. I must say that I was a little disappointed by the fact that I had a 6:45 reservation and was told that they were out of the 40 oz porterhouse which is the one and only reason I was there. I mean it is a steak house for goodness sake. How can you be out of meat at 6:45 pm, the dinner hour. Never-the less I settled for the 40 oz tomahawk chop. It was more expensive and it was a good cut of meat, but not what I wanted. When you are in the spur of the moment with your girl you do what you have to do and I didn't want the night to be ruined so I paid the extra. My suggestion would be to call ahead if you are desiring a particular cut of meat to make sure they have it. If not, you may be disappointed as I was.
