Ruth's Chris Steak House - Ft. Lauderdale Ratings and Reviews
Four of the five steaks ordered for our table were completely cooked incorrectly and the service was AWFUL. This was a very disappointing meal and dining experience. Given that Ruth’s Chris is a STEAKHOUSE, one would assume they know how to cook a steak. Even though they “attempt” to fix the mistakes, you end up with a meal that is miss timed and no one enjoys the experience.
There were many choices for Valentine's Day. We chose Ruth's Chris. We have not been to this location for a number of years but it was memorable enough that we decided we would come here for Valentine's Day dinner. We chose to celebrate on Thursday because 2.14.18 was Ash Wednesday, but we also know that the actual date can be crazy and we wanted to have a relaxing evening. We were not disappointed. We chose the shrimp cocktail appy and for our entree the porterhouse for 2. Our sides were roasted brussels and fingerling potatoes. We added a lobster tail which was the only item - while delicious - was probably not worth ordering as a side. The bread pudding was very good; sweet and different from mothers but very tasty and way more than enough for at least 2!
From the morning when delightful Gloria confirmed til leaving with our server Mike making our evening superb, we know we made the best choice. All of the staff was efficient and friendly. We will return in the future. Thank you.
Heard so much hype about it. Tried it for the first time for Valentine's Day. WANTED to like it, but it was mediocre. The steak had gristle in it, so I'm glad I didn't get a more expensive cut. The sides were mediocre as well. A friend told me that he used to work there and they MICROWAVE the food! And I believe it! Two hundred dollars not well spent. I'll try someplace else next time. Or Outback. Lol.
Food was delicious, but the restaurant needs a massive redo on the decorating. The carpet was old and needed replacing. It is not what a fine steak house should look like. If you look past that, the serice was great, had a good wine list and the steak was great. The tables were so close together that we had to get up so people could walk by. Overall, I think you can find better steak houses.
Great food and steaks but horrible service marred the entire evening. We’ve been waiting two years to come back here – after or before cruises it’s our special place! Unfortunately we had to wait for 30 minutes to be seated at a table for six. That wasn’t so bad, but neither the waitress nor the assistant server ever came over to the table to welcome us to take drink orders or anything for over 15 minutes. The rest of the evening was just like that ... Very strange and extremely disappointing to spend $600 and have that kind of experience.Thankfully the wonderful manager gave us a generous gift certificate before we left because I expressed my displeasure. We did not want anything from him but it was a very nice gesture and we will return. Just can’t get back that special night with our grown kids from also over the country. Not the way to kick off a cruise. This is highly unusual for a Ruth’s Chris.
Had not been to Ruth Chris for some time. I was disappointed to hear that they no longer offer Steaks "Au Poivre" style, which is very common in upscale steak places. They would not even entertain a special request (given how easy it is to make the sauce).
The tables are much closer together, in an effort to fit more people, so the overall ambiance has changed from what it used to be.
Overall the food was delicious, and the service was great. However, it may be a while before I go back. I have tried Morton's, Del Frisco's, and other top named steak houses, and they do go out of their way to accommodate requests (especially at these prices).
Staff was excellent in recognizing event. Server was good but dinner meal was noticeably slow. The classic sizzling plate was not experienced in delivering meal. Special selection did not have the appropriate portion of potato, and the broccoli serving was not edible. The glaring unsatisfactory experience was that my ribeye steak was extremely fatty. Management was attentive in taking off the check, but really wanted to have a good steak to eat. Thank goodness I ate the bread and appetizer.
This restaurant was a joke. It's a food chain below average at best steak house. In fact it's probably the worst steak house in all of Fort Lauderdale.
1. The service staff is inexperienced, unknowledgeable and overwhelmed.
2. The kids meals are a joke.
3. Ambiance is weak, very weak.
4. Way over priced for the sub par food and under performing service.
5. I would recommend 5-10 other steak restaurants in the area that are much better than Ruth Chris.
Overall a lovely evening. The calamari appetizer was delicious! We ordered the celebration dinner with 2 lobster tails and the rib eye steak. The rib eye steak was very fatty (we know a rib eye tends to be fatty). What started out as a 16 oz steak was probably no more than 10 oz of meat. It was cooked perfectly and we did enjoy it. We ordered the shoestring french fries which are usually very good but this time they were overcooked and cold.
Celebrated my wife’s birthday and the experience couldn’t have been better. The table was decorated with happy birthday confetti and a card from the restaurant. After dining on our delicious filets from the complete dinner option, our server Dominique took our photo and made the whole evening feel special. The all the courses were perfect and we couldn’t have asked for a better time.
This is our favorite Ruth's Chris. We live in Michigan and every year when we visit Florida this is one of the restaurants that we choose to eat at. It is not on the water, so location is not what brings us back. It is the service and the food. Nicholas was our waiter. He was young, but did a nice job. Food was good as usual. We had the 2 cowboy steaks and the filet. There were three of us. We also split the chopped salad, baked potato, and spinach. You definitely want to share those sides. We chose the cowboy steaks because you can get two meals out of them. Anyway, I'd recommend this restaurant if you're in the mood for steak.
Food quality was excellent as per usual. However we felt that the service was a little off tonight. Our waitress was not very reactive. Waited quite awhile before getting greeted. Slow to react. Main meal arrived and old plates still on table. Not the best server by a long shot.
Not as organized as it used to be. Carolyn, who was the hostess for years, was not there so therefore we were forgotten. Our reservations were at 6:30, which we were a few minutes early. We went to the bar and waited 20 minutes until we went out to the hostess to see if our table was ready. They seated us immediately after that. Our server, Pat, was pleasant, but after the dinner was served she seemed to busy to get back to us in a prompt manner.
Our meal was great. The steaks were cooked perfectly and so tender. The Caesar salad and the creamed spinach were good as always.
It's nice that they have finally redecorated, as it was musty for years. Not sure who the manager is as no manager stopped by like they used to do.
We were celebrating our anniversary, which they made notice by sprinkling rose petals on our table and took a picture after we had finished dinner. That was a nice touch.
All in all, we had a pleasant dinner.
The food was excellent and the service was as well.
There were two of us celebrating our birthdays and Ruth’s Chris honored both of us by decorating the table, giving both us a birthday card, as well as a complementary dessert each, and it was absolutely delicious.
I would highly recommend this elegant restaurant to celebrate special occasions
The true test of a restaurant would be on a hi-volume, hi-stress day like Christmas, and I must say that Ruth's Chris certainly has their act together. Although they were mobbed when we arrived for our reservation, we were seated a short time later. Our server, Jennypher, was most pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient. The steaks and sides we ordered were perfect and delicious. All in all, a solid "10."
