Ruth's Chris Steak House - Fairfax Ratings and Reviews
We had such a beautiful visit to Ruth’s Chris Fairfax. It was my birthday and I loved every bite of my meal. When we arrived at our table, there was a nice card from the restaurant waiting for me and in the end, we were given a free dessert, anything we wanted from the dessert menu. Our waiter was very attentive and kind. As always, they seem to hire the best staff who have a high degree of professionalism.
For a higher end steakhouse, I was disappointed by the service/decor.
There was no coat check which is surprising.
By the front door, there was a giant ceramic heater on the floor. This was an odd sight.
For a white tablecloth dining establishment and one I’ve been to before, I was disappointed that the linens were stained and that after each course, the server did not remove crumbs from the tablecloth.
Favorite Ruth's Chris. Food was great! Started with one of the best Old Fashioned I have ever had - Gambler's Old Fashioned. Love the tomato/mozzarella salad. They use kumato tomatoes which are darker and sweeter. The balsamic reduction goes perfectly. We also had a bottle of one of my favorite wines - Chimney Rock fume blanc. Next of course was the buttery steak. I love the smell of the sizzling butter. We could not resist going all out on the starches. I love, love, love the peas u'gratin, potatoes u'gratin and we had the mac and cheese as well. I know cheese city and I loved every bite. The fruit and cream for dessert was a perfect ending. We always ask for Tim as our server. He is excellent. He has been a part of dining experience for years and years.
Our group came here for a Birthday celebration. We enjoyed everything from appetizers to the wonderful steak options that they are so we’ll know for. Dessert options were also very nice. They also had a very nice wine selection even though it was not very extensive. Lastly our waiter was just amazing. Very attentive and pleasant!
The restaurant atmosphere is very comfortable. The tables are situated perfectly which allows for easy conversation. The service was perfect. Each individual who came to our table was courteous and very professional. The food was delicious and we look forward to coming to Ruth’s Chris again in the future.
The steaks on NYE were perfect, as they always are at Ruth's Chris. Our server was top notch server and professional. The sides, appetizers and salads were delicious. Absolutely no complaints about the outstanding food and service. However, the prices continuously climb up and the quality of the restaurant doesn't seem to match it. You get just the entree and have to order any thing else or you get a plate with a "steak" on it. The tables are so close together and it is unreasonably loud and crowded. For the money, I want to feel special, not in the middle of chaos. So, I cant give an overall outstanding rating.
Took my nephew here for a Christmas gift dinner. It was great! Had been to other Ruth's Chris locations in the DC area. This one compared very favorably with the others for both food and ambience. We both ordered from the (2 tiered) special menu that included a starter (appetizer, soup or salad), the entree / side dish and dessert for one price. It was a good value and the item selections were as good as the "regular" menu. You have the option of adding or changing items for a small extra cost as well.
The food was excellent. Salads were generous and not overdressed. The ribeye steak that my nephew ordered was a generous cut of aged beef, perfectly cooked. I ordered the ahi tuna special, and was I happy I did. Unlike every other place I have had it,instead of it being sliced and fanned out on the plate, it was served as a whole (10-11 oz.) filet! It was flash seared perfectly all around so there were no overcooked parts. It was served on a bed of oriental vegetables in a light Ponzu sauce. I would consider going back this week just to order it again! Had a really good bottle of wine at at reasonable cost. Dessert was fine as well if you were even interested in eating it after such a great dinner.
The service was friendly . Our server could have been a little more attentive after the courses were served, but that is a minor consideration.
birthday dinner went South. service was not very good and the restaurant was not crowded the day after Christmas. not accommodating as far as ordering. wanted to get a piece of salmon on a salad and was told i had to pay for both! The Tbone ordered had to be returned 3x...finally not worth the trouble to eat! a third round of ice tea was ordered and never brought to the table either. I purposely did not order a steak because the last time i went (few years ago) i had to send it back..... really not a good restaurant, very disappointed
We have dined at Ruth's Chris for many years. Anniversaries, good report cards, holidays. I feel that the quality and service have continued to go down hill in the past few years. The last two visits, our steaks all came out the same, regardless of how we requested them . The salads have lacked seasoning and the sides (french fries for my kids) soggy and not completely cooked.
It really is a disappointment considering it's always been our "go to" and not to leave out the cost. I'm not sure we'll be back :(
Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants. It’s a family tradition to come here every year for Christmas dinner. Have never been disappointed. The food, service and drinks are all top notch. The steaks are out of this world! The blueberry Mai Tai and Chardonnay were a perfect touch to a perfect dinner. I cant wait Visit again.
Our annual Christmas Eve dinner at Ruths. She stated this was by far the best meal she has ever had. The wait staff - led by Jeff - was excellent. Her petite filet was cooked just the way she liked. When she is pleased I am pleased. Kudos to all involved in making our evening special
Awesome dinner and cocktails!!! We were celebrating a winter graduation and couldn’t resist Ruth Chris steaks. The 11oz filet was perfect and the seasonal soup tasty. We love the value of the Ruth’s Classics menu and the very attentive service we always receive at this location keeps us coming back. We’ll have to come up with more excuses to celebrate...
Ruth's Chris has always been one of my family's favorite restaurants. We celebrate all of our birthdays and more here. There's a reason. I can honestly say there's not a time I've been here and haven't enjoyed every single thing about it. From when you first walk in to the host stand, to the service (server/server assistant or busser) and of course the OUTSTANDING food. Ruth's Chris will ALWAYS hold a spot as one of my favorite restaurants. I work in the restaurant industry (server) and restaurants really need to understand and get through to the staff that a restaurant can have great food but if everything isn't up to par with the food...it can ruin the experience. I would also like to add, this was my birthday and my boyfriends first time dining at RC and he absolutely loved it. He said, "this will become one of our date night restaurants." Thank you guys for always providing a 5 star experience and look out for my application! lol
This is a tough review to write. It's a real mix. This was my family's first time dining at a Ruths Chris.
We made reservations for Thanksgiving evening. A special turkey dinner was advertised. From the start, it was obvious that the restaurant was not prepared for the day, on multiple levels it turns out. Upon arrival, we were told they were running behind. It ended up that we were seated for our 7:45 p.m. reservation just past 8:30. After being seated, it took over ten minutes for any wait staff to come to our table and even bring water. The main wait staff arrived five to ten minutes after that.
The advertised turkey dinner was no longer available. So, we placed alternative order, the entire menu was, in theory, available. When we ordered, it turned out my daughter's entree was not available either. Then we found out about 15 minutes after ordering, that my wife's side dish was no longer available either.
Obviously, the restaurants operations failed. We were not offered any sort of make up, no comp drink, appetizer or dessert. I did hear diners at other tables getting such offers.
On the bright side, the time spent waiting in the bar area for our table was comfortable, the bar staff very friendly. All the staff were very friendly and apologetic throughout the evening. A manager did apologize for the delay in the wait staffs arrival to our table. And, the food that was served, filet mignon and salmon as well as the asparagus and other sides were very tasty, served at a good temp, etc.
The lack of preparation for the holiday seems quite difficult to excuse.
