Ruth's Chris Steak House - Fairfax Ratings and Reviews
Ruth's Chris in Fairfax, VA has never let me down. This was not our first time and as always, my expectations were met. I was pleasantly surprise by some menu change to supplement their steak. Whitney, like all the other servers we've had before, was great. Excellent service + excellent food + pleasant environment just makes the whole experience wonderful. I look forward to the next visit. Yes, it was expensive but well worth it and for me I look for value.
We went to celebrate my daughter's 17th birthday. You can always count on Ruth Chris to provide a consistent high quality meal. The 3 course special is an outstanding value. I rated food 4 stars because the seafood trio was not on the same par as the steaks - tiny lobster tail, scallops were over cooked and the garlic butter too overpowering for the seafood. My mistake - it is a steak house! My daughter did get the surf and turf and the lobster tail was outstanding.
Daisy, our waitress, was fantasic!
We will go again and again to this all around excellent restaurant and dining experience.
It's a nice restaurant, however, the prices are bloated, the service is decent, and the food is cooked with far too much butter. It appears as though the steaks are not even grilled. There were no grill marks to speak of on either steak that was ordered. Not to say they were not tasty, it's just that I would prefer a grilled steak 100% of the time. Grilled or not grilled though, no steak to me is going to be worth 45-60 dollars. Also, there were plenty of long delays between when the waiter would show up. Would not recommend Ruth's Chris to anyone nor will I be returning.
We had a valentine's day dinner and it was absolutely fantastic. Foods were perfect as always and the waitress was really helpful picking out the wine that we liked. Also, they offered a valentine's day package for $20, which included champaigne, chocolate dipped strawberries and roses for two. It was a great deal! and very romantic too.
Ruth Chris Fairfax did not meet our expectations during this visit. We were never offered bread. Steak was ordered medim rare, but served medium. Service was slow to remove used dishes. Normally the table is cleaned between courses, but not on this night. I was just not what we expected from Ruth Chris.
We save this restaurant for special occasions, and enjoy eating there, because it's more quiet than some of the other steak houses. We wish they had more fish on the menu instead of just salmon. They have more shell fish which is not good for people with allergies. Bring back the Sea Bass and Halibut.
Ruth's is a reliable and good chain that has always been and will probably always be enjoyable. Unfortunately for us the Fairfax location (maybe all) no longer has a sommelier and this is a major drawback. The wine list is very young and the staff knew nothing to properly assist us in making a decision - our iPad apps were more helpful. Maybe the clientele that frequents is no longer wine savvy so the little knowledge the wait staff can impart is plenty. If you know more than a little, the absence of a sommelier is painfully obvious. They had one a few months ago, so maybe the economy is affecting even this staple chain.
We thought it was very good. It was our 40th. Wedding Anniversary. But quite honestly, in our humble oppinion, for average income folks like us ..... it was assuredly way, way, way overpriced ! For example, a simple glass of wine, which only had at the most three mouthfuls, was $11.00 ..... that's really incredible. You could have at least given us a reasonable glass of wine. I don't think we'll be returning to Ruth's Chris Steak House.
I went for a special ocassion (birthday) with a group of 7 but they didn't give anything complimentary. Considering that my bill was over $300 you would have thought they would have thrown in a free dessert. My food was a bit undercooked and my waiter a bit inattentive (I had to keep asking for refills). I've had better experiences at Ruth Chris, but maybe they are just not used to waiting on big groups.
In a word- wonderful; big crowd but staff calm & extremely cordial, service excellent, probably the best steak I've ever had; unusual to describe a place as both romantic and kid friendly; my 12 yr old was with us and engaged warmly by staff also I noticed other children about, yet ambiance was relatively quiet, attractive relaxing decor, even though big crowd still felt a sense of conversation privacy at our table.
I have been to Ruth Chris many times and this time the waiter and staff were very slow esp on a Sunday. The place was not that crowd so I do not understand why they were slower than usual. I love the food but didn't not enjoy the service. I still gave them a 20% tip but if I get the same waiter I will ask to sit somewhere else.
This was not our typical experience at Ruth's...service was WELL below par. Our server, Ellen, was extremely inattentive & left us waiting most of the evening even though the restaurant wasn't crowded (7 empty tables near us). Server dissappeared for long stretches of time & ignored us when she returned to dining room. Steak wasn't cooked to order & had to be sent back. I'm sure the server didn't put order in righ as we have never experienced this at Ruth's before. Water glasses weren't refilled. We weren't asked if we wanted another drink. Cappachino with dessert (server assured me would be the best I've ever had) had 3" of foam with a splash of cold coffee. We will return but would definitely ask for a different server.
The food was outstanding! The restaurant menu makes it affordable for most. It was the best steak we've ever eaten! We will definitely be heading back for very special occasions. The drinks and wine were also great.
My boyfriend summed it up as 'Now I know why there is Ruth's Chris and the everywhere else'
I have been wanting to have dinner here for a long time but was not able to due daily costs associated with this area. My experience was good and I definitely want to go back. The next time I would preferred to be seated with adults, not next to a table of 16 that are mostly children celebrating a child's birthday. That is my only complaint. The waitstaff stepped in to fill in for the waiter that was assigned to us, and that was nice-- at least we were not forgotten.
Ruth's Chris is always a good choice and their Restaurant Week special is a great deal. Our party tried each of the 3 options for each of the 3 courses and I heard no complaints. It was a very nice dining experience that I look forward to trying again soon.
My husband and I appreciated the thoughtful, knowledgeable and experienced waiter. He knew exactly what I was talking about concerning the cooking of the meat. The food was delicious and worth every penny. The clientele at the dining tables were respectful of other diners and even the children were well behaved. If I could afford it, I would visit this restaurant weekly.
