Ruth's Chris Steak House - Edmonton Ratings and Reviews
Ruth’s Chris is decent for a change of pace. I’ve been a few times but never left a review. Worth crossing off the bucket list but not a place you want to consider for frequent visits. Food is severely overpriced when considering the taste and quality. Server we had was excellent, she was one of the few things that made the dining enjoyable. It’ll be a few years before we visit this restaurant again. Ambience was dreadful, had us tucked away in the basement in a stuffy room. There’s definitely better places in Edmonton to enjoy a night out. Especially considering the amount of money spent.
Our server James was excellent and we both ordered the Chicken which was absolutely the best chicken I've had in my life. I didn't care for the music -- I think it was popular in the forties maybe. I really appreciated how James asked us if we would like to wait for our entrees and he was aware of the timing of the meal and when each course would be ready. Maybe twice in my life have front and back of house been in such good communication with each other. I felt that our experience as an evening out and the pace of the meal was purposeful and well taken care of. I would turn the lights lower for sure and definitely consider having parking spots available next to the restaurant rather than at ATB a block away through the ice and minus 30 weather. And the reservation reminders could inform your customers about parking before we are paid for at the impark.
Overall an excellent experience for our valentines date.
This was our first time here in many years and not one bad thing to say about the place. Great place to have a quiet meal with friends or a loved one. Everything was top notch with our evening from the staff to the 5 star meals. Yes the menu is pricey but nothing wrong with treating yourself once in a while when the food is great.
A place to check your coat, someone to greet you at the door, delicious food, quiet atmosphere, white table cloths, and treated like royalty. You wouldn't want to dine at Ruth's Chris.
Forgot your reading glasses...no problem.... you can borrow a pair from the restaurant.
The three course dinner options are a great deal. I suggest that you select a dinner side that your company and share them as they are large enough for two people and you can add variety to your meal.
I loved everything about this place except the bill. Lol. I mean. Everything was perfect, I just can’t say I’ll ever go back because of the price. It’s one of those..... I can say I went there but I won’t go back, not because of the food or service. Just because I can eat just as well at other restaurants for about half the price.
For the last 5 years, my friend and I have been coming to Ruth's Chris when we come into Edmonton for Teachers' Convention. It is conveniently located next to the hotel of our choice, Courtyard by Marriott, and we know that we will have a fantastic meal with wonderful service - and we have NEVER been disappointed. Thank you for such special memories as we reconnect and enjoy a splendid meal!!
The food was great. The server could have paid more attention to the person who was having a birthday. My husband received the candle and everyone at the table did not receive what was ordered. It was all there, but not presented to the right person. This does retract from the ambience .
My wife and I have been going to Ruth Chris for the last 4 years on our anniversary. We have always had a good experience. They don’t make a big thing about casual dress.
The food is prepared to our liking and we don’t feel rushed to leave. The staff are very professional
The appetizer was amazing, and the service was fantastic . My boyfriend and i just did not enjoy our steak at all . We shared the tomahawk ribeye . My portion was mostly fat, and my boyfriend's was more rare then medium rare .
Overall it was an okay experience . But it was not worth the 300$ that I spent.
Had some problems with wrong orders and cold lobster bisque. ThInking after we let them know about the issues they would provide better service but it ended up being slow and we ended up being disappointed. For a near $400 meal I would expect a whole lot more. Was a special occasion and we left disappointed.
Over all good!!! We had same waiter and he is consistently not attentive. For the price we expect excellent service.
Maestros, same caliber restaurant, has always had top notch service and this is all we have to compare our experience to.
We love the food and that’s what keeps us coming back...so cheers to the kitchen!! They are the best!
Ruth's Chris steak house was recommended from my brother who is a chef. Everything was exceptional and food was delicious. The only disappointment was for this special night out, the table was so large that it did take away the romance.
For this reason I would probably not make it a romantic date night.
The service was wonderful. The table had Happy Birthday sprinkles on it and it looked very festive and nice. The appetizers were very tasty and ample. The salad and soup were great. The meat eaters loved their respective meats: chicken, steak. The salmon was slightly overdone. The Napolean vegetable dish was disappointing - quite tasteless but beautifully presented. The sides were good - mashed potatoes and asparagus. The desserts were spectacular and enjoyed by all. The ambiance is fabulous and again, service is second to none!
From the moment we walked in the door we were impressed. Reserved for the wife's birthday and was top notch from the atmosphere to first greeting and of course great service and food. Our steaks were cooked to absolute perfection melt in your mouth. Prices are not shy but in my opinion well worth it. I will definitely return.
We enjoyed the evening and all were pleased with their meals. Having the three course meal with three different steaks cooked to how we liked them. Going from Medium rare to Medium and then Medium well all were perfect. Hot plates with the steaks were great and with asparagus and mashed potatoes as the veggies we left feeling full but not stuffed. Caesar salad was very good and the desert finished the meal (not too sweet and heavy). Great place to eat. Will go back again.
Black specs in my creme bruillet could not be explained. I researched the recipe and am sure
It was vanilla bean. The waiter said
Torch debris or something but
Server was very good
My asparagus got cold at my table but it Was -37 that night!
All was good
Ruths Chris...blew me away. Their service was impeccable.
The atmosphere is that of a classy restaurant. I do not suggest bringing small children. It holds more of a romantic, calm, fancy restaurant type feel. We were on a rare date night and the atmosphere was perfect for that.
Dress code: I don't suggest jeans & a t-shirt. Although, they only things they don't allow is ripped jeans and hats. So you *can* wear jeans and a T...but you will feel underdressed! I wore jeans with a really elegant shirt. My hubby wore slacks & a button up shirt. We fit in.
The food. OMG...the food. I'm not a seafood fan, so I can't comment on that. Or the alcohol as I'm super pregnant and can't drink either. I did eat their Petit Filet - 8oz - of pure steak goodness. I asked for it to be cooked Medium and it was. To absolute perfection. I kid you not, I have never eaten steak that tender, that soft, that melt-in-your-mouth. The outside was nice and crispy and as soon as it hit my tongue, it was so tendery soft it was a mouth-gasm. I was left speechless, a feat not often accomplished. I highly highly recommend their steak!
As for our sides. At this restaurant, you order your items a la carte. I chose steak, mashed potatoes & their jalapeno corn. The mashed potatoes are very mashed. Like...creamy mashed. They were a little too smooth for my liking, I prefer thicker mashed potatoes tbh, but they did taste good! The corn was phenomenal! As a sidenote: one side dish is enough for 2 people. Keep that in mind when you order.
Also, wednesdays is date night. Meaning, two people can order from their Date Night menu for $120. That includes a glass of wine for each person, one starter to share, one entree for each person, and 1 side PER PERSON. Oh, and dessert to share. I highly suggest their Creme Brulee. I could have eaten 4 of those.
As for budget concerns. You will spend close to $150-200 for two people if you include alcohol and tip.
Truly sad about that garlic cheese bread being gone but what can you do, you gotta follow Corporates rules. Although, Darren has given us a high quality service! He is truly exceptional! We come once a year to celebrate our Anniversary and the food is always delicious! Our meal came out faster than we expected. Thank you Darren for making our night memorable!
We experience the one in Calgary first and we live in Edmonton and it was an amazing experience there, so we decided to bring my father in law to the Edmonton one for his 60th birthday. Its not as nice as the one in Calgary and the service was slower than we liked. The food was very good. Very very disappointed that we didn't have the option to have US beef or Alberta beef. We much prefer Alberta beef over corn fed beef. Calgary gives you this option so we were not impressed we didn't have this option. So we all ordered chicken or salmon except for my father in law as it was his birthday and he wanted steak. We all would have ordered the steak if we had the choose of Alberta beef. When we asked our server he was very short with his answer and simply walked away. Not sure we will return to this venue.
6 people came to celebrate my husband and my daughter's December birthdays. Fabulous table (decorated!) in front of an open fire; staff so friendly in wishing both birthday congratulations and "making a fuss" over them on their special day! Food was fabulous..and dessert free for the two birthday people! We 're now thinking of making this a yearly tradition; a wonderful night in such a warm, inviting local!
Sometimes "old school" is good school: in the case of Ruth Chris's Steak House that seemed to have been true. The white table cloths, low light, large lit fireplace, and happy ambiance - along with more traditional menu - fit with what I was expecting for a business dinner with a colleague from the States.
