We have eaten here several times over the past year. The food continues to be good but the restaurant has declined due to lack of dress code and rude clientele. The table of four next to us watched a soccer game on an ipad the entire dinner. They were openly loud and obnoxious. Unlike other Ruth's Chris, there is not a dress code so anything goes - shorts, tank tops, jerseys, tattered blue jeans, etc. It's like eating at Golden Corral with high prices! Management does not seem to care.
Our server, Steve, was excellent. He was polite and attentive.

Food was very good. Pace of service was slow, our server was good but had no one helping him with service and all the other servers did. A few menu and bar items were not available due to non delivery or equipment broken, also place settings (teaspoons) were in the wash so we did not have any for dessert, had to use big spoon for coffee etc. Also we were seated at a small 2 person booth, my husband is 6’5” so seating was uncomfortable, there were open tables in the dining room so we should have been seated elsewhere. Managers were very nice and came around to check on us but should have been aware of of these situations. We frequently dine at Ruth Chris locations but were very surprised by what we experienced last night, for the amount charged you expect more from this establishment
It took more than 30 minutes from when we arrived before we had any drinks on the table. When the food came, two of the steaks were undercooked. It took 10 minutes to flag down a server from a different area. Our waitress could not be found. When she did show up and ask how things were, I told her and her response was that she was busy serving. Then the steaks came back and they were still undercooked! Also, my ribeye was pretty thin. Not thick like I’ve had before. The champagne that we ordered at the beginning g of the meal and finished before the food arrived remained on the table until the end. Bad food and bad service.

We were celebrating my sons graduation from UNC. We have visited this location before and had very positive experiences;
However, this was far from meeting our expectations. We were rushed by the staff (so bad my husband asked if he was in a hurry and the waiter responded they were short staffed) water not replaced timely, drinks forgotten, my husbands old fashion was horrible, food came out while we were still eating salads, table was never wiped for crumbs, had to request bread multiple times, forgot we ordered dessert, no toilet tissue in restaurant and then no towels in restaurant, lots of issues. A manager never came over to apologize for food being brought out early. They didn’t know who had which meal; gave my husband my sons steak, mixed up salads. Completely unacceptable. Especially for a $500+ meal for 4 people.
Service was poor. After bringing the seafood gumbo I had to wait to catch the eye of someone to get a spoon. Waiter got my daughters order wrong and didn’t put in the order for one of our veggies. If you are going to charge premium prices the service should be commensurate.
The staff was great, the food was really good. Mushrooms and au gratin potatoes were the best.
Our server Ivan was excellent.. we really enjoyed his personality.

Was good as it always is, but had to mark off some points for where they sat us (ton of table open, and same tables open when we left, so we know they weren't taken, but they seat us at table right by hostess stand/front door.) Also, order asparagus as a side and the were anemic stalks, very thin and wilty, not firm and sturdy. Hard to cut with even a knife. Wasn't impressed on this visit, have to say. Not the best impression on my wife for Mother's Day too, but oh well.....
Ruth Chris is our home town favorite restaurant. We tried the Durham location while we out there. The decor of the restaurant is pretty average steak house, not mounting to high end. The service is average as well, may need more training, although the waiter we had was fair nice with good attitude. The food server, however, delivered food poorly. One of my son got grease on the back of his suits by the time we leaving the restaurant. The steak was good as expected (but not very attractive looking), the sides were way overly greasy, the excess oil in the plates are not acceptable from Ruth Chris name. brussels sprouts were under cooked with tons of grease, and mashed potato appears sit too long, the butter is separated from the potato mesh. It was a birthday celebration dinner, but we have to ask for the birthday candle which was very lame and unattractive piece of cake some sort...kind disappointing.
I love this Ruth Chris . It doesn’t feel like a franchise. The service was great. I go there quite frequently when I’m in Durham.
We went for an early Mother's Day celebration and had an amazing time. Andrew, our server, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu - as well as gracious with all the ad hoc questions/requests of everyone in our group.
The food was great! My boyfriend and I enjoyed the evening dining experience! I will come again!

Service was mediocre. We had to wait over 20 minutes to order appetizers. Our meat was not cooked as ordered. It was really an overpriced disappointment.
Ruths Chris always delivers a fine meal with equally attentive service. it's a winner all the way, and has a GREAT PATIO!
Wonderful food, but for 2 adults and a child with an appetizer, a bottle of wine and tip, the bill was over $300. While the steak is amazing, I am not sure it is worth the price.

The meal was amazing! We enjoyed the experience and also the food.
Very disappointed at this visit as we had a great experience before this. Greeter acted like she was surprised by us when we clearly had a reservation. Took her a bit to find it and really did not greet us with a friendly greeting. She then finally confirmed she had our reservation and it included a request for a high chair and was to celebrate 2 birthdays. We were taken to table with no high chair and she made us hold child while she sat out the menus and took her time bringing us high chair. Server then greeted us and took our drink order. There were 4 of us plus a child. Server did not return to table for 25 minutes and finally did with our drinks. In the meantime, a four person table near us came in after us and already had their drinks and had ordered before we got our drinks.
Server left again and came back in another 15 minutes. The other table was getting their food before we even got to order and we had a small child getting restless.
The meal was fantastic so the cook staff did their job well. Server brought us our check and then asked if we wanted anything else. We had to tell server we needed the ice cream that comes with kids order and the dessert for the 2 birthdays being celebrated. How embarrassing to be treated like we were not wanted there. To top it off, when we were finished our bill had auto gratuity of 20% added in so I assume that is why we got the worst service I have ever received at a Ruth’s Chris Steak House. We will not be going back to this location as it was clear our $430 meal was not wanted there. Very disappointing.

Despite our repeated requests, the establishment offers one chicken dish, however, they were able to create a different dining option than previously stated, which was a refreshing change.
The hostess did not inform me until I was seated in the Dining Room to remove my hat which I did not as I knew the dress code was Business Casual, however I did not realize hats were not allowed in the dining room. As a female baby boomer I always considered ladies hats to be dressy, especially considering I was there on Easter Sunday. If the hostess had informed me before being seated, I could have gone outside and removed my hat and combed my hair.
My family decided to dine at Ruth Chris Durham for Easter. From the moment we entered until we left everyone and everything was first class!
Food and service was exceptional. Issue is dress code enforcement. Please reiterate what business casual means. We pay these prices for a reason.
Food and atmosphere was fine. Service was disappointing and does not reflect the quality expected for the price you’re paying for the experience.
