Ruth's Chris Steak House - DC - Convention Center Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful food, however, we had our young daughter with us and wanted to substitute French fries from kids menu for a baked potato that she loved. Waitress came back and claimed it could not be swapped, even though the kids meal was already $14.00. Really????? One baked potato??????? Ridiculous.
Colossally overpriced, but food was good. Service was just ok.
Wow, where to begin. This place has been the BEST Ruth's Chris I have ever been to. They are so genuine, kind and professional! I like to mention these 5 (although there are many others at this location) individuals that made Valentine's the most memorable in my 39 years. Tia is always great to work with. Max our waiter is excellent, she is so sweet and on point. Super friendly and hope to work with her again. Yinka and Jamelle made EVERYTHING so special for my guest and I. Literally I had purchased a dozen red roses and some godiva chocolate and asked if they could have them placed on the table upon my arrival. My guest was amazed (as was I) on how perfect they made everything! Every detail, from even putting some rose pedals on the table and set in a very quite location. I really thank you! I would also like to mention Ms.Elizabeth. Everytime I call Ruth's Chris, see is so pleasant. Bravo to all, you would make Ruth Fertel proud!!!
This is my favorite Ruth's Chris location; the atmosphere is less stuffy than others we have been to. The meal was good. However, after a similar meal at an independent steakhouse with one location, I will say it was not great. Given the prices at RC, this was a disappointment. The bar menu looked good, and a much better value. Our waitress provided exceptional service and was the bright spot of the visit.
This dinner was awful start to finish. Even though we had made a reservation well in advance, the hostess tried to seat our party of 7 at 2 separate tables. When we objected, she pulled 2 tables together but we never got the proper set up. It took 25 minutes to get cocktails. The appetizers were all brought out at different times. My steak was well and tough even though I ordered medium. One guest was told 30 minutes after ordering Tuna that they were out. The second item he ordered in place of the Tuna, they came back later to say they were out of, as well. The sides were brought without spoons to serve them. I could go on and on with the examples of sloppy service and poor food quality. And there was no offer to make any amends for the evening. It was a very expensive meal-We would have had a better experience at a Longhorn. I would NOT recommend this restaurant!
I went to Ruth's Chris for restaurant week. I had previously been to the Crystal City location for happy hour and enjoyed it. The restaurant week menut was small but contained a petite filet, bbq shrimp, and a variety entree. The appetizers were a garden salad or a ceasar. The only offering for dessert was a cheesecake. I tried the 'Mixed Grill' with creamed spinach. The mixed grill has a 4oz filet, a chicken quarter stuffed with cheese, and about a .5 oz crabcake. We were served warm bread to begin our meal. The waiter was very plesant. However, I ordered a medium and my friend ordered a medium well. I received a well done filet and I assume she received mine, however it was still medium rare. They took the filets back, cooking her a new one, however, since mine was under they just refired it and served me the same piece of meat, eventhough it had already been cut though. I would have preferred a new piece of meat, especially since my food was served to someone else, and its a chain I'm sure they could afford to serve me a new 4oz filet. Overall my experience was good and I enjoyed all the food. I may visit again.
For a steakhouse charging $50+/steak you would assume the steaks would be cooked to perfection. Not so. My medium NY Strip was no less than medium-well and my wife’s medium filet was well done and charred in certain places. If this were Golden Corral no one would care. But Ruth’s Chris should do better. For a truly amazing dining experience at a similar price there is no reason not to go to The Capital Grille just down the street. Combined with the table of 10 seated next to us that had a small child yelling “mommy” for 45 minutes, our dining experience was less than ideal. No doubt, the “mommy”’kid was not the restaurant’s fault, but combined with the crappy steak it made for an even crappier experience. Further, when an appetizer of crab-stuffed mushrooms is brought out in about 180 seconds, it makes me skeptical as to the freshness of said crab-stuffed mushrooms. Me thinks these crabs and mushrooms were zapped in a microwave. The taste did nothing to dissuade my theory.
Service was terrible. We overheard the wait staff speaking negatively of the patrons at the table next to us. Very unprofessional. I asked for a Diet Coke and the waiter brought me a jack and coke. She did it twice. And both drinks showed up on the bill. We asked for our steaks to be cooked at medium. Both steaks were well done. Our waiter was super slow and seemed irritated when we asked for anything. The food was not properly seasoned. I love Ruth’s Chris but this location was terrible.
Our waitress talked the talk but never walked the walk. My steak had it be sent back because it was well done instead of medium. The cappuccino was not hot and the service was exceptionally slow even though they were not busy. Not consistent with Ruth’s Chris.
