Ruth's Chris Steak House - DC - Connecticut NW Ratings and Reviews
This was a disappointing experience, especially when the establishment has been great in the past and has a very good reputation. After being seated promptly, we waited far to long to see a waiter. The drinks took 20 minutes to be delivered, and we were never asked if we wanted another round. The order took far to long to be delivered. The steaks were over cooked -- I ordered medium rare and got one that was well done. Those sizzling plates continue to cook the steaks way past the requested temperature as it is, but my steak was medium well done when it was delivered. Also be careful when ordering -- not all cuts are USDA Prime grade.
I made a reservation through open table for Thanksgiving dinner. I arrived on time at 7:30 to find at least 5 different families, dissatisfied and waiting to be seated - some over 1.5 hours. The restaurant overbooked on a holiday which is rather amateur and not what I'd expect from Ruth's Chris. I waited 45min. to be seated only to be given a seat at the bar because a table was unavailable. Who eats Thanksgiving dinner at the bar? If I didn't already wait so long to be seated I would've left. The bartenders were obviously busy and it took over ten minutes to just be given a menu. Once I did place my order I waited awhile for my food to arrive. I was seated beside noisy patrons but it's the bar so I couldn't really complain. Overall, my experience was horrible.
I'm grading on a curve because it was Thanksgiving Day. We waited an hour after our reservation time because it was so crowded. What pushed it over the edge was that we waited an additional 40 mins longer before even getting our drink order taken. We were comped a bottle of wine by the manager, but time lost is time lost. We hope this was just a hiccup in their service as we love the franchise overall.
They overbooked and we have to wait an hour even though we have reservations. The same with others. When we checked in and likewise with others, we were told that it will be a few minutes for them to get the table ready but it took about an hour for everyone.
The service was horrendous and the food was mediocre at best. I did the turkey dinner, which was okay, but it was cold. Moral of the story, if you go someplace where they are known for something, get that. Don’t deviate from what makes them famous.
Ruth Chris never disappoints. My husband and I had a Thanksgiving Day dinner alone without the kids and we sat in a very private area of the restaurant. I ordered two crab cakes, fries and sweet potato casserole. The meal was very delicious and hot. My husband had the Ruth Classic. His steak was very good. The service was excellent and I enjoyed the peace and quiet.
I was quite disappointed overall in the experience. This was a special Thanksgiving dinner with my brother. I made an early reservation and when we arrived we were put right by the door and there was a family with two babies who started to make a lot of noise. After 10 minutes of realizing this was not going to stop, I asked the hostess to move us to a quiet area. The hostess was accommodating and she put us in a back room that was unoccupied with the exception of a man with his younger son. Once we were seated in the back area, it was very nice and quiet but the service was very lacking. We seemed to be forgotten and it was difficult to even get our water refilled. The dinner was not as good as expected. We both had the ribeye. I would not go back to this restaurant nor recommend it to anyone that I cared for.
For as long as we can remember, we celebrated our anniversary at Ruths Chris so while in Washington for a convention, we decided to try the RC there. We went early on a Sunday night so there was no wait and it was very quiet. The petite rib eye was wonderful and cooked perfectly. My husband had the filet and was equally happy. Lyonn potatoes and grilled asparagus were also very good. Would recommend this spot.
The meat was absolutely fantastic! I've never had better. It's a very cozy setting. Felt like being in a cellar which my colleague did not care for - not advisable with people who have a fear of enclosed places... but after a bottle of wine - which was also absolutely fantastic - she forgot about her fear of dungeons. :-)
It was our 2 year anniversary and we showed up to a beautiful semi-private table with little confetti decorations around the candles. Every single server and hostess knew it was our anniversary and wished us well. We had the most incredible meal, and as we asked for the check, our server José brought out a candle lit dessert on the house. So special and clearly above and beyond! The restaurant has lovely ambiance and is clearly well maintained and run- will definitely be coming back!
We have great steakhouses where we are from in Nebraska and I was so excited to finally dine at a Ruth Chris, but I was underwhelmed with the experience. I expected an experience that would've been unforgettable but for different reasons. Everyone was very nice but we had spots on the dishes (maybe pepper), my water glasses had smears like dried salad dressing (when it separates and turns to oil-greasy), the gnats weren't a big deal, but it didn't feel like a premier steakhouse. Renne was great and the hostess was super nice too...We had expected to spend 300.00 for dinner and spent half that because we were so underwhelmed. Our medium well steaks lacked the flavor I expected, the potatoes were bland, and the creamed spinach was soupy. All in all, it felt like an Outback or a meal I could've gotten from anywhere. I'd like to give the brand another chance, but would not return to the DC location on Connecticut avenue. Our Lyft driver even laughed at us when we said we went there.
The Connecticut Ave Ruth Chris' restaurant is the "go to" spot for celebrations for my husband and me. The food is always great and service top notch. Our server, Jamelle, added to the evening with wine recommendations and pleasant talk. He even took and provided a photo as a reminder of my husband's birthday. A great evening.
We had a great time at Ruth's Chris. The wine was fantastic, and so was the main entree. The mushrooms as a side were a tad overpowering and not really sautéed. Salads were sub par. Dessert and main entree, as well as warm bread were the real winners.
The service started off fine, but ended up average. Roberto was very nice and helpful, but looked like he needed more help and less tables. Took us a long time to get our check and leave when we were more than ready to head home.
Reservation for 8:45p. Got there at 8:30 and waited until 9:05 to be seated. Back room seating took away the ambience of a classy front room decor; felt like an Outback Steakhouse setting. Waited 10 minutes before waiter came by to start things off. He appeared overwhelmed by a busy night, though he was composed and professional. Food was good; scotch was excellent but $50 per glass was too much!
Ate at many Ruth Chris restaurants but this was by far my worst experience (though it is relative to expectations of a high end restaurant)!
