Rude and dry hostess. In an almost empty restaurant, she seats us by the bathroom. Asked to move. The side order of six piece sautaed shrip was three and burnt to a black crisp on one side. When I complained, they brought me another three, almost raw. My wife's medium prime ribeye showed up medium-rare, at best and still tough to eat - hardly a "choice" cut. Never again. At $100 per person, there have to be enter options in DC. Never again.
Comfortable place overall, the booths are a little small and cramp. The servers were good. Not too noisy considering we were in the bar area. Easy location to get by public transportation. Food was tasty. Our steaks were cooked the way we asked. Service started out slow because they had just started dinner hour and had one waiter in the beginning
Great food at a reasonable price. Excellent service
Anniversary dinner, seated next to the loudest table in the restaurant. So loud even the waiter could not hear our order. Food was great though.
Service was very slow.
The food was horrible and the service was poor. I was disappointed in the whole dinner
Our server has to be one of the best I've ever met
The staff was amazing and the food was cooked to perfection
It's Ruth's Chris. What more do you need to say. Great filet, prepared perfectly. Attentive service.
Enjoyed the food and the waiter. He was very friendly and the food tasty. Would go again.
The Filet Mignon melted like butter in my mouth. A true treat.
Had my birthday dinner here. Great food, good service. My only complaint is that they took my leftovers to box up and never gave them to me. I really wanted those leftovers :(
Birthday food was good the steaks and
I've celebrated by birthdays at Ruth Chris for many years now. An all-around favorite splurge!
Celebrated Anniversary, the hostess forgot to inform our Waiter. Even with that hiccup, our service was top notch as well as the food. Kristopher was fantastic
Food was excellent but service was horrible. I had to ask for everything (more wine, utensils, dessert, the bill, etc.). It’s just annoying to go somewhere nice for my boyfriend’s birthday and not feel taken care of by the server. He didn’t try at all and I was more than willing to order a bottle of wine but had to basically track him down just to get a glass. It was rough leaving a tip at the end of the night.
Best food experience in DC hands down!
Had a good time and a great meal as usual.
Waited 50 minutes for our meal to arrive only for the server to say my sons steak was on the pass and he was going back to fetch it straight away. 10 minutes had passed and still no meal for my son so he we had to complain. The steaks were cooked wrong, we requested medium but 2 of them were rare and one was blue. There were no sizzling plates as you usually get in Ruth Chris’s. I’ve never experienced this before and was so disappointed!
After complaining the manager went above and beyond to make sure we were happy but for me it was ruined the minute our table didn’t get the food at the same time to eat together.
Ruth's Chris is always great for special occasions, and the design of this location has many cozy niches for quiet/romantic dinners as well as space for larger parties. The flavor and temperature of the steaks were excellent, as expected, and the butternut squash soup was outstanding. Service was friendly and professional, but the timing was off, as the table had finished the starter course before drinks arrived.
Made a reservation for a romantic anniversary dinner for two and the hostess took care of details; prepared customized menus and a beautifully decorated table with a hand-written anniversary message. The appetizer and meal was exceptional. Thanks for a perfect anniversary dinner!
Awesome can wait to be back.
Birthday for 70th. Table was nicely decorated and staff / service was really attentive and sweet
Great as expected.
First, let me say that our waiter did the best he could despite his circumstances. This was clearly a managerial screw up. Our waiter had a very large group, I didnt count them, but it was at least 10+, and they were very demanding. We were neglected for the most part. Which is fine at Dennys, not Ruth's Chris. I expect the same attention as the next table. My mother's steak was supposed to be well done (i know this is the least favorite) it was medium, and not butterflied like she asked for, and other RCs have no problem doing (even if it does ruin the steak), my steak, which was ordered medium rare, came out rare. My lobster tails, were over cooked. I would have ordered another drink had we been asked in a timely manner, same for dessert.
Again, this isnt the waiter's fault. The manager should have been observing the needs of the other table being overwhelming, and seen to it that we also had Ruth's Chris level of service.
The service left something to be desired. However the manager was more than accommodating which made up for the errors during the meal.
Christmas. Server was not attentive.
The sever and the food were excellent. There are no complaints.
The waiter Chris was amazing very attentive & gave good recommendations
Christmas dinner. The food was amazing, slow arriving to the table but very delicious.
Our server was pretty slow and not very attentive. However, the servers assistants were great.
Main dining room is dark and dingy and needs a renovation. I would not allow the hostess to seat us in the back room with no windows and near the bathroom. The covered patio space is the nicest and brightest.
It was comfortable but the restaurant could use new finishes.
The staff is pleasant and untrained. The lobster tails were salty.
Free soda refills and a nice (yet untrained )staff doesn’t make up for these basic failures.
My husband and I had a great time. The food was so delicious. The noise level near our table was a little loud due to some other guests. The night was perfect other than that. We will definitely be back and recommend this location to our friends and family.
When you consider dining in Washington, DC make Ruth Chris Steakhouse at Connecticut Avenue your dining destination. The food is prepared fresh everyday. The drinks are pleasing and complimenting to your appetite. The atmosphere is elegant and timeless. The staff appears to always be polished, polite, poised and very knowledgeable of the menu.
Outstanding steaks and sides! So much flavor...and wonderful ambience! Service top notch! Can't wait for the next visit!!!
Great food and service!
As huge fans of the Ruth’s Chris restaurant chain, we were somewhat disappointed by this particular evening. We chose to spend our that’s giving dinner at the Connecticut NW venue. We were “greeted” by the hostess who seemed so dreadfully unhappy to be working on that day. Could hardly hear what she had to say when or if she did say anything. There was only one waitron working the entire area and although he was friendly and worked hard, service and attention was lacking in a big way. We topped up our wine ourselves for the whole bottle. When my mains arrived, I identified that it was not the cut of meat I had ordered (and I do know it well as it’s the only cut I’ve ever ordered since first visiting Ruth’s). Although the manager replaced my steak (won’t go into detail of what all was said), my husband had to choose between waiting for mine to return and his getting cold, or us eating at different times for our first thanks giving as a married couple but at least have his steam while it’s hot. By the time my steak arrived again, the sides were cold. Staff members used the fire escape to leave after their shift so the freezing cold breeze hit us each time someone left. We were the last table there (all events considered) but round about as we finished dessert, the main bright lights were turned on. Hint taken, we left by walking ourselves to the door and getting a half hearted “good night” from the kitchen area.
All in all, we will definitely not return to this Ruth’s Chris and doubt we will let this one bad experience put us off all the others. A bit disappointed that we were so excited for thanks giving at Ruth’s, only to eat at different times and juggle the food temperatures and pour our own wine. Not to sound precious, but for those prices and what the name stands for, it simply didn’t cut it this time around.
We had a lovely Thanksgiving meal - quiet, comfortable with many menu choices beyond the traditional Turkey
