Ruth's Chris Steak House - DC - Connecticut NW Ratings and Reviews
For as long as we can remember, we celebrated our anniversary at Ruths Chris so while in Washington for a convention, we decided to try the RC there. We went early on a Sunday night so there was no wait and it was very quiet. The petite rib eye was wonderful and cooked perfectly. My husband had the filet and was equally happy. Lyonn potatoes and grilled asparagus were also very good. Would recommend this spot.
The meat was absolutely fantastic! I've never had better. It's a very cozy setting. Felt like being in a cellar which my colleague did not care for - not advisable with people who have a fear of enclosed places... but after a bottle of wine - which was also absolutely fantastic - she forgot about her fear of dungeons. :-)
It was our 2 year anniversary and we showed up to a beautiful semi-private table with little confetti decorations around the candles. Every single server and hostess knew it was our anniversary and wished us well. We had the most incredible meal, and as we asked for the check, our server José brought out a candle lit dessert on the house. So special and clearly above and beyond! The restaurant has lovely ambiance and is clearly well maintained and run- will definitely be coming back!
We have great steakhouses where we are from in Nebraska and I was so excited to finally dine at a Ruth Chris, but I was underwhelmed with the experience. I expected an experience that would've been unforgettable but for different reasons. Everyone was very nice but we had spots on the dishes (maybe pepper), my water glasses had smears like dried salad dressing (when it separates and turns to oil-greasy), the gnats weren't a big deal, but it didn't feel like a premier steakhouse. Renne was great and the hostess was super nice too...We had expected to spend 300.00 for dinner and spent half that because we were so underwhelmed. Our medium well steaks lacked the flavor I expected, the potatoes were bland, and the creamed spinach was soupy. All in all, it felt like an Outback or a meal I could've gotten from anywhere. I'd like to give the brand another chance, but would not return to the DC location on Connecticut avenue. Our Lyft driver even laughed at us when we said we went there.
The Connecticut Ave Ruth Chris' restaurant is the "go to" spot for celebrations for my husband and me. The food is always great and service top notch. Our server, Jamelle, added to the evening with wine recommendations and pleasant talk. He even took and provided a photo as a reminder of my husband's birthday. A great evening.
We had a great time at Ruth's Chris. The wine was fantastic, and so was the main entree. The mushrooms as a side were a tad overpowering and not really sautéed. Salads were sub par. Dessert and main entree, as well as warm bread were the real winners.
The service started off fine, but ended up average. Roberto was very nice and helpful, but looked like he needed more help and less tables. Took us a long time to get our check and leave when we were more than ready to head home.
Reservation for 8:45p. Got there at 8:30 and waited until 9:05 to be seated. Back room seating took away the ambience of a classy front room decor; felt like an Outback Steakhouse setting. Waited 10 minutes before waiter came by to start things off. He appeared overwhelmed by a busy night, though he was composed and professional. Food was good; scotch was excellent but $50 per glass was too much!
Ate at many Ruth Chris restaurants but this was by far my worst experience (though it is relative to expectations of a high end restaurant)!
Prior to this occasion this was my 2nd favorite restaurant. I don't know what happened. The service was horrible. We sat for 30 minutes before being greeted by server. then we were served water. Then he disappeared for 30 more minutes before returning to take our order. Finally our order was delivered by someone else. Our water was refreshed by the hostess. then we asked the manager, who was near our table, if we could see our waiter. He noticed that we were sitting there so long that he assumed we wanted our check. He brought our check over without inquiring whether or not we wanted to see the dessert menu. It was a 2 1/2 hour disaster.
I will never return to this restaurant!
We celebrated birthdays. The table was prepared with celebration decorations which was a nice touch. The wait person seemed to be rushed. If given a choice we always seek out Ruth's Chris. The filet is oh so perfect. Mash potato so creamy. My all time favorite steak place, never disappointed!
Kim the GM always has an attitude. She does not come across as genuine. For my Birthday in which she knew, she didn't put confetti on the table, did not give me a complementary dessert (rule 101) since Ruth Fertel made this restaurant and didn't even wish me a Happy Birthday. This ship needs a new captain!
Very disappointed by this location of Ruth's Chris. We did not get the normal warmth and friendliness from our waiter, the calamari was grody, our tablecloth was already stained and menus messy. The crab cakes were meh and shoestring fries were over fried. Very disappointed with this experience as I expect much better from Ruth's based on my prior experiences at other locations. Not coming back
Let me start off by saying that the food was amazing as always. This location is definitely seen some better days. The restaurant was dirty and dingy. Dust on the wooden beams, woodwork all scratched up and looking tired. Poor lighting throughout the restaurant. The bar overpowers the dining room and the loud profane banter going on at the bar was distracting.
Service was horrible. I've had better service at McDonalds. It took 10 minutes to get greeted and to get some water from the wait staff. It took 17 minutes to get a drink refill and dirty empty plates sat on our table for 13 minutes before they were picked up. The restaurant was only half full. So I find it hard to believe they were overwhelmed. The wait staff was friendly, but not around. Manager was nice when I spoke to him about it. He apologized and ensured me t would be addressed.
I will eat Ruth's Chris again, but never again at this specific location. It should be closed and remodeled.
I've been to this location only one other time, and both times my visit was great. The food is always delicious (it was my first time getting the three crabcake entree) and best of all was the manager, Chad Togans, who did everything he could to make sure our party of four had the best night ever. One bottle of white and another of red wine and the cheesecake too? I'm stuffed! I will definitely be back.
Always a pleasure to dine at this Ruth Chris as the layout is not their conventional cookie cutter setup. The bar is very rustic with a low, timbered ceiling . The dining areas are multi-leveled, with the ground floor having a nice street view.
The food, as always was excellent, and the service was supreme. You may blanch at the price but you do get what you pay for...
