Ruth's Chris Steak House - Columbia Ratings and Reviews
The service was very commendable. The restaurant staff was understanding and accommodating when my date's arrival was delayed. The valet service performed a wonderful "recovery" for me when I mistakenly left a present in my vehicle. Also, Ken, our server, was very prompt, courteous, and sociable. I will request him upon my next visit.
Was here for New Year's Eve date night. Food was great and it made for a nice evening. We did have a couple of issues, though. First, our food came at awkward times - we were eating our salads and appetizers when the steaks arrived. It was way too early and it was weird to have to send it back to wait. Second issue was that the plates weren't wiped off before serving. It was a bit surprising given we were at a fine dining restaurant. Overall, it was a great evening, our server was great, and we'd go back.
The last two times we have been to this location we have had bad service & some of the meals were cold. No sizzling plates for several people in our party. The filets had gristle and were the cap of the filet instead of center cut.
There were several items added to our check that we didn’t order.
Just a bad experience for our last two celebrations!
We dined with Ruth Chris’ for Christmas. Austin was our waiter and he was fabulous and made nice recommendations. We both enjoyed our dinner and tried the sweet potato casserole with vanilla ice cream and frangelica. I wouldn’t have ever paired them together, but it was delicious!
My husband and I were delighted that Ruth's Chris was open on Christmas Day! Thank you! Our steaks were very tender and well seasoned. We both ordered medium well filets. My husband's steak was actually cooked medium, and my steak was well done; but we chose not to bring this to the server's attention since it was a holiday which likely presented challenges for the kitchen staff. The mushroom couscous side and the mashed potatoes were both a bit heavily seasoned with garlic for our taste. We would not order these sides again, but It would be nice to have an option to Ruth's Chris' delicious French fries.
The food, as always, was very good. Perhaps it was because it was Christmas Day the service was really stretched. Unsweetened tea turned into sweetened tea, water glasses remained empty, and follow up to food preparation was non- existent. All in all, not worth the premium price unless the whole experience warrants it.
Had a wonderful evening with BBQ Shrimp appetizer with bread. It was Devine. We had a fried lobster bites with a Thai sauce that was good too. The Filets and RibEye steak were melt in your mouth, and sooo flavorful even with just salt and pepper seasoning. The table shared several sides that were also delicious.
A quick bite in the bar is also a great idea before or after events at the Colonial Life Arena.
The steaks were by far the best I’ve ever had and the servers were friendly but the sides were luke warm and my meal included dessert which wenever got because it was taking so long....the servers only came around about once every 30 minutes but when they did they were extremely friendly ....the steaks were worth the money but everything else was disappointing considering the amount of money that was spent
Ken was our server and he, with his team, were outstanding . It was my partners birthday. He was greeted as a special guest, treated to a delicious shrimp appetizer and a special dessert compliments of the house. This being our first visit, we were excited to be served a Ruth's chris steak. The ribeye and the filet were delicious but not exceptional in flavor. This is not a romantic place for dinner. By 7:30pm the dinning room was very noisy with lots of foot traffic all around. We paid for fine dining service and got it. The next day I discovered a mistake made on the check. I called and it was taken care of promptly. We'll go back to try some other items on the menu but will sit in the bar where the noise level and more casual dining seems appropriate.
We were sat next to a table with a child, who even though she was adorable, pretty much screamed the entire time they were sitting next to us (they left right at delivery of our main course). The thrill of Ruth's Chris is the sizzling plates and the delicious steaks. None of our plates were sizzling and one of the steaks was definitely overcooked. That steak was taken back, prepared appropriately which was appreciated but you could tell there was a higher quality of that cut, the plate was sizzling, and the taste of that steak was much better than the previous ones. I feel that for a restaurant of this quality and price, all the cuts should be similar and care taken to cook appropriately. I hesitate to recommend this location due to the experience but hope that it was a one off experience.
The service we received from Chris was sub par to say the least. I’ve never received such poor level of service. We were in town from Atlanta, and have dined at the Centennial Park location , and received excellent service. Based on our dining experience this past weekend, I can’t imagine ever dining with you all again.
I was disappointed, and didn't think this matched my usual experience with Ruth's Chris. The wait staff was excellent, but the delivery of food was slow. I had a tomato/mozzarella salad, and there was no balsamic dressing on it, so it was very bland. I ordered a medium filet steak, and found it rather tough. All in all, given the price, I didn't think it measured up.
Drive 5 hours to have Thanksgiving dinner with the family There must have been a “disturbance in the kitchen” ; the food started off with salads. The salads look like they didn’t have enough lettuce to go around so they skimped on the portions.
Then the meal came but not all at once. 3 of us got our meals while the 4th person didn’t get his Cowboy Ribeye for over 20 min.
As far as the meals : one persons was perfect as ordered
The turkey dinner looked like they ran out of turkey. Threw some shredded white and dark meat leftovers on the plate and served it.
The large filet was undercooked and looked like they rushed it out
The cowboy bone in ribeye was 20 min late to the table and was very undercooked. Even though it came on a hot sizzling plate the meat was cold to the touch
Not what you would expect from a high end steak restaurant
The manager and server were apologetic and even took ribeye steak off the bill.
We have enjoyed wonderful Thanksgiving meals at Ruth Chris’ in Richmond VA in the past and were disappointed with the food quality on this visit here in Columbia. It appeared that the restaurant overbooked and the kitchen was overwhelmed. The staff was pleasant and attentive but the meal certainly was not the quality we expected
The Thanksgiving Special was AWFUL, just awful. The stuffing was too salty to eat, one bite and done. The Turkey consisted of carving scraps, not a single slice, not one. Having spent 32 years in the Food Service Industry I'm positive there was 2 ounces of Turkey, no more. The liquid Cranberry tasted medicinal, like clove juice. The mashed potatoes were served cold, not even warm. Couldn't get a bread refill . Lisa seemed overwhelmed but still professional.
Great service from management. The prior evening they were able to accommodate two additional to our party and called late that night to confirm. Was there for Thanksgiving with family. Food was good, however Service got progressively worse throughout the dinner.
