Ruth's Chris Steak House - Columbia Ratings and Reviews
I was disappointed, and didn't think this matched my usual experience with Ruth's Chris. The wait staff was excellent, but the delivery of food was slow. I had a tomato/mozzarella salad, and there was no balsamic dressing on it, so it was very bland. I ordered a medium filet steak, and found it rather tough. All in all, given the price, I didn't think it measured up.
Drive 5 hours to have Thanksgiving dinner with the family There must have been a “disturbance in the kitchen” ; the food started off with salads. The salads look like they didn’t have enough lettuce to go around so they skimped on the portions.
Then the meal came but not all at once. 3 of us got our meals while the 4th person didn’t get his Cowboy Ribeye for over 20 min.
As far as the meals : one persons was perfect as ordered
The turkey dinner looked like they ran out of turkey. Threw some shredded white and dark meat leftovers on the plate and served it.
The large filet was undercooked and looked like they rushed it out
The cowboy bone in ribeye was 20 min late to the table and was very undercooked. Even though it came on a hot sizzling plate the meat was cold to the touch
Not what you would expect from a high end steak restaurant
The manager and server were apologetic and even took ribeye steak off the bill.
We have enjoyed wonderful Thanksgiving meals at Ruth Chris’ in Richmond VA in the past and were disappointed with the food quality on this visit here in Columbia. It appeared that the restaurant overbooked and the kitchen was overwhelmed. The staff was pleasant and attentive but the meal certainly was not the quality we expected
The Thanksgiving Special was AWFUL, just awful. The stuffing was too salty to eat, one bite and done. The Turkey consisted of carving scraps, not a single slice, not one. Having spent 32 years in the Food Service Industry I'm positive there was 2 ounces of Turkey, no more. The liquid Cranberry tasted medicinal, like clove juice. The mashed potatoes were served cold, not even warm. Couldn't get a bread refill . Lisa seemed overwhelmed but still professional.
Great service from management. The prior evening they were able to accommodate two additional to our party and called late that night to confirm. Was there for Thanksgiving with family. Food was good, however Service got progressively worse throughout the dinner.
First time at a Ruth's Chris and I cant wait to go back. My husband and I went out on a date night. Both loved our petite filets. Best we have ever had! Excellent service. Only thing i would change is that it was freezing in the restaurant. My husband had to leave his coat on the entire time. My coat was not something to eat in so i had to put it over my lap and freeze. The steak, sides and creme brulee were all delicious!
Service was friendly but uneven, our server was young and not the level of professional that a restaurant charging this much should have on a Friday night. Bread was brought 15 minutes after we were seated, Caesar Salad had virtually no dressing on it. Steaks were presented on plates with splatter marks all around the food.
Now this is what a steak should taste like! Filet with a horseradish crust was outstanding! My friend's ribeye was equally as good, so we shared! Highly recommend the crab beignet starters! Very tasty and light with great crab inside. Sides and dessert were also excellent. My friend ordered from the petit meals but I ordered a la carte and we were both more than satisfied. Atmosphere was very relaxing and enjoyable but I wish there was more strategic lighting - I could barely read my menu. Will be coming back here though as it was a wonderful experience.
Really bad Strip Steak, barely average Filet. Far, far below expectations for the premium price. It just can't always be this bad, but this time it sure was. Hope you have better luck than we did, but luck shouldn't have anything to do with it at an upscale steakhouse. We have dined at Ruth's Chris all over the East Coast many times, and it is usually perfection. This was very disappointing.
We did have a few glitches. My husband's steak was undercooked. Mine was perfect as was my daughters. The fact that his steak had to go back for additional cooking was not a great outcome. Also, the waiter spilled a bit of beer while pouring. These two mistakes resulted in the server providing a desert on the house and also comping the beer so thought that was excellent. The food was really delicious. too bad these two small problems occurred. otherwise would be a 5 star review.
Very loud/very crazy energy in this restaurant. Couldn't even hear the waiter. I know the steaks are "prime" but from a health standpoint, I don't really think bragging about "corn-fed" steaks is much to brag about! (I'm a local food/grass-or-pasture raised gal!) Anyway, the waiter was good and helpful (even though we couldn't hear him over the noise)... The restaurant had no charm (just a busy cafeteria feeling) and the vibe was one of an overrated hotel bar to me. Lots of people in shorts and t-shirts. Not a romantic or special night out. If you like corn-fed steaks and sides (like sweet potato casserole!) you'd enjoy it. We really were just scrambling to eat on a busy weekend in Columbia. I'd give this "experience" a 2 out of 10 and the food a 5 out of 10.
We dine at Ruth's Chris for our annual steak dinner. If you're indulging in a once-in-365-days meal, why not make it the best , right?
We each had the petite filet: seared crisp on the outside, tender on the inside. The broccoli side is steamed beautifully - tender crisp and bright green. My husband loved the baked potato - plain - with moist inside and chewy, flavorful skin.
Our server Nate was attentive and skillful. He knew the wines and brought tastes of a couple to help me decide.
All in all, a special evening.
This wasn't the fine dining experience we we looking for. It was merely expensive dining. My wife and I have dined at several other Ruth's Chris restaurants. Our expectations we not met.
We dressed up as we do for fine dining. It wasn't necessary. Many of the male diners wore T shirts and shorts... Really. Women were dresses similarly. There was a couple next to us with a child wearing a baseball hat backwards. So much fo atmosphere.
The food wasn't up to the restaurants standards either. My 16 oz ribeye was very fatty. About 1/5 of the steak was wasted to fat. My wife and I ordered Caesar salads. They forgot to put Parmesan on mine. My wife ordered creamed spinach. It was slightly warm. The shoestring fries were served at rom temperature.
Our waiter was okay. Once dinner was served he disappeared until it was time for the check. No one asked how we liked our meal.
Definitely not up to this chains standards.
