Ruth's Chris Steak House - Clayton
Daniel was a great server. Thank you
Our server was great. It was Valentine’s Day so it was crowded. But it was a lovely evening.
Wonderful service but food delivery was a little on the slow side, but since it was a special occasion, we were not in a hurry. Steak and lobster prix fixe for Valentine’s Day was good but steak was a little dry. Mashed potatoes and creamed spinach sides were very good. Dessert was phenomenal. We got carrot cake and chocolate cheesecake, and both were delicious.
Great night for our Valentines Day! Started with a really great Old Fashioned and glass of wine. Steaks were cooked perfectly and sides were excellent. Ended with the duo of chocolate soufflé.
Steaks were just ok - fried calamari was chewy and tough. Steaks were Not seasoned. The garlic mashed potatoes are not real potatoes I’m pretty sure they are a box of some sort. Totally disappointed. For a $700 bill I really expected a lot better quality.
Not great for the price. Steaks not cooked as ordered, took a long time to get drink refills, and food was not that flavorful. Not worth the price!
We had a lovely anniversary dinnner at Ruth's Chris on Thursday evening. Everything was perfect from our entry to our departure. Ruth's Chris is a 10+ out of 10 and our new favorite restaurant.
The customer service was great, starting with the hostess. The waitress Nicole was great from beginning to end. Both managers on duty were very courteous.
Thanks to the whole team that night for making our late 17th anniversary pleasant, comfortable, and relaxing. We will be returning.
A+++. Bravo.
The food is always excellent, fresh ingredients, and good portions.
My husband chose this restaurant for his 50th birthday dinner, a very special occasion. As soon as we entered, I had a sense that this would not be the special experience I had hoped. It was bright, very loud, lots of little kids...very similar to any chain restaurant with slightly nicer decor (booths and quiet rooms looked nice but our table was a basic table smack in the middle of the dining room). Service was wooden and rushed-I was only halfway through my 5oz pour of wine when the entrees came! When ordering, I confirmed the doneness of the filets with the server. My husband and I both ordered medium-rare (red but cooked through). Mine came medium (pink), his came rare (cold and raw inside). The server suggested my husband cook the steak more on the hot plate, which he did, but is this this restaurant's general policy? Fix it yourself? I don't think that's appropriate for this level of restaurant. And I expect a specialty steakhouse to cook the filets to the standard they state on the menu, especially after confirming with the server. The kitchen got *both* filets wrong. They did bring out a special dessert for my husband, and that was nice. But, overall, this was very underwhelming & not what we expected from a Ruth's Chris . I don't think I would return, based on this visit.
Great dining experience. Entire staff was highly professional.
This restaurant was on the Clayton restaurant week list. We made reservations online early. Food/drink (martinis five stars) and service were excellent. Location was great and a valet was available. The only minor downside - could not get separate checks, otherwise all great.
Had a great meal and service from Nichole! Enjoyed everything and was so well taken care of! Jeff Daniels the manager runs a first class operation!
A great evening--starting with the perfect lemon drop martini. An exceptional meal and fine wine.
Our server TC was a perfect host, with excellent menu recommendations. We are looking forward to returning sometime in March.
Awesome waiter. And we were able to sit in a private room so it was not as noisy
The experience was wonderful. The food and drinks were amazing!
Birthday great.
Overcooked my first steak and then for my second steak brought me out a flab of fat, not what i would expect from an establishment like this. What really bothered me is i saw the waiter show his manager and the guy wouldnt even bother to apologize or check in on us
Great happy hour
We were here for Clayton restaurant week. It was delicious.
Enjoyed a lovely meal during restaurant week with my wife and mother in-law. I would highly recommend the restaurant! service was exceptional and knowledgeable about menu items and pricing.
We visited this restaurant during restaurant week. Though it was busy, our waitress Nicole was very attentive and made sure we had a wonderful evening. The manager came through several times also to ask how our meal was. CJ, our valet, was fast and polite. Overall a great evening! Thank you.
My fiancé and I love trying New places an Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is by far been the best experience we have ever had. From service to food I couldn’t be happier and I cannot wait to go back! My favorite dessert to cook is cheesecake in they have the most amazing cheesecake I’ve ever eaten.
Went during Clayton Restaurant week. The filet was amazing! Food and service were both great, no complaints.
They forgot our crab cakes that were to come with our steak. Manager said be right on it, but had to wait full time for them to make, so didn’t eat much of steak by than. Food quality was wonderful. Wait staff was spot on, just mix up in kitchen. Would have been nice to get 1/2 price for the wait.
Excellent service. Busy Monday night due to restaurant week.
Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. Food was great. Parking was a little difficult. Appreciated the special treats in recognition of the several events we were celebrating. Expensive - -prices were higher than what is posted online. Overall an enjoyable experience.
We dined her to celebrate our daughters 15th birthday as this is one of her favorite restaurants.
The food is always amazing and we love the ambiance!
Paul was our waiter and he provided exceptional customer service by anticipating our need before we asked.
We thoroughly enjoyed his great spirit and mannerism!
Thank you Paul for making a great evening even better!
One of my favorite spots in St Louis, can't miss by trying the Lobster Voodoo with a specialty cocktail.
Just expensive. Nothing outstanding with better service coming from non-chained establishments. Mezzaluna in Fargo is much superior in all categories...suggest the manager in Clayton make a trip north to visit a really fine restaurant.
For a very pricy meal, I was hoping for better quality food. Steaks tastes like they had more nitrates than what was needed for preserving, the hash browns were soggy, and Mac and cheese was dry.
Lobster bisque...probably the most disappointing entree. The soup tasted sour.
Our waitress was nice but not on point- we waited for 25 minutes before she came to get our bill...which was the embodiment of her night serving, not coming around as often as she should.
Overall not impressed- we will not be dining here again. I would highly recommend J. Gilbert’s for a great steakhouse chain.
Just delicious. Everybody at the table raves about their dinner. The drinks and wine were also delightful.
And Miguel did an amazing job catering to our every need.
Great night all the way around.
My family and I go to Ruth’s 4-5x/year and this is the first time we’ve had bad service. 15min after ordering a glass of wine I finally told waiter to cancel it as dinner was over and the table was completely cleared. Clearly he forgot. 20min later we finally tracked him down again to order desert for the kids. I passed on my usual desert and after dinner drinks. If not for help staff working for tips I would not have tipped my waiter at all. That’s how bad it was. Won’t be going here again.
First time in a long time to go to RC Steakhouse... quality of the steaks, service, location in Clayton and atmosphere were all fantastic. Sides were just ok and the cost is prohibiting for numerous trips back. Having said that, I would certainly go back because the star, the steaks were fantastic.
Food had to be sent back to be cooked as originally requested. Waiter was in professional and so casual he should her been working at Denny’s.
This was our first trip to a Ruth Chris. The resturant was beautiful, the service was fantastic, but aside from my chicken the food was lacking. The stuffed chicken was worth every penny and deserves 6 out of 5 stars in my life opinion but everything else we ordered was not worth half the cost we paid. I actually enjoyed the bread dipped in the extra cheese and dripping from my chicken more than either side we got. I admit we do not get to eat at restaurants like this very often but we splurged for our 16th wedding anniversary. If we go back it will be for the chicken, even my husband had plate envy. He said my chicken was way better than this steak. Nothing was wrong with the steak it just was not any better than ones he has gotten at much cheaper resturants.
The set up makes for a very quiet and pleasant dinner. The service (Miguel) was awesome!!!! The food was to die for.....steaks were cooked perfectly and all the food served was hot and stayed hot due to the “500 degree plates” process. Desserts were fantastic as well and wine selection is unmatched. A tad pricey.....but well worth the experience!
The staff was very attentive and made my parents anniversary a great experience!
I live in LA and dine at the RC here at least monthly & the service etiquette is totally different in St. Louis. Our server was a bit too “chill”. He also INSISTED that my rare steak was a medium. I have been dining with Ruth’s Chris for years and I know what a medium steak should look like. Anyway my steak was recooked three times, evidence it started off rare (which in any other steak house would be unacceptable after its cut into) but I was extremely hungry & pregnant so I just settled for it. The sides were great per usual and the manager comped my filet which made it a bit easier for me to give a good review. I love RC & will continue to dine here.. hopefully with a different server st the Clayton location.
