We have frequented Ruths Chris all over the country for years. Food is always good and consistent. Biggest issue we had on this occasion was the service. I suspect that restaurant week in Cincinnati impacted our experience. The restaurant was very busy. We arrived a little early and were told that we could not be seated until closer to our reservation time. That was fine but the hostess was not extremely kind telling us this. Our waiter early in our meal was excellent but as the restaurant got busier he must have "veered off" to other tables and we lost that same level of service. Had difficulty getting our desert order taken and it felt a little like we were forgotten. So... overall the food was very good but the service was average at best.
Excellent as always!
For the price of a meal here, the food was surprisingly average. If we didn't have superior service from Peter, I'd asked for management. For the price point of the meals, you have better options in the Cincinnati/Dayton area.
Great experience for wife’s 40 birthday dinner. I would highly recommend for a special occasion such as this.
Sat upstairs, great service, friendly staff.
Service was good. Large table with loud guests nearby. My steak was salty and the lobster mac was bland
This is the first time I have been to Ruth's Chris at this location, and I have to say I was not impressed. The quality of food was not as good. The steak was grainy. Maybe we have just had such great food every time we have been to the Louisville location, we are spoiled.
Also, I tried to change my reservation from 4-5 and was told I couldn't, which seemed legit since it was Easter Sunday; however, the restaurant was empty when we arrived and still empty when we left at least 90 minutes later. I find that odd.
We went to Ruth's before Opening Day for the best burger in the world. It didn't disappoint! Be sure to get the zucchini fries too. They are great with the burger!
My wife and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary and they made it very special. The staff was incredible and our waiter Vance is a professional and was excellent. Thank you so much for making the experience the best we've ever had at any restaurant.
We loved the personal attention and thorough explanation of the Ruth Chris experience.
The food was pretty good, the waiter wasn’t incredibly attentive. We’re used to Jeff Ruby restaurants so this was a ways below what we are used to. However we still paid the same that we would’ve paid if we went to precinct or Carlo and Johnny’s. We might return to give it another shot.
Ruth Chris is always so amazing!!!
Was My B-D wish, R. Chris is my fav. Restaurant over Ruby’s, Morton’s or any other comparable. Best Crab Cakes, Best Creamed Spinach- here’s an example, my sister had never been has heard me talk about it. Once dinner finally came as she’s getting ready to take a bite of the Creamed Spinach she says, “I don’t get it, what’s the difference between this and any other Creamed Spinach, then she takes a bite, her eyes get wide & says “OMG” (the actual words)!!
I said do you get it now, she was still a little shocked at how excellent it tasted.
The negatives, they were slow, it took way too long for salads to come out. There were 5 of us, one person ordered an app, nearly 30 min after it was brought I’m trying to find someone to bring the salads, those waiting didn’t want them with hot dinner coming out. Then they brought my father the iceberg wedge, he said he asked for or thought it was Romaine. They offer both, but it wasn’t clarified when the order was taken.
Lastly, it’s well known their portions are big, but using the flimsy cheep styrofoam packaging for “ leftovers” is disappointing and unappealing.
I would carry out for different occasions etc. but won’t as long as things are “boxed” in those containers. The Bread pudding was disappointing, was more like a big biscuit.
Everything else was good.
Looking for a superlative above phenomenal...that’s how great this meal and location was for my meal. The Mother of all Steak dinners! If there is one near you at home or on your next trip...get into one! Take a cab/Uber so you can also enjoy the amazingly crafted cocktails and wine list!
The food is always the best. Service is consistently questionable. However the steaks
Cannot be beat!
The food was fabulous! My wife has a favorite dish that she has ordered at several other Ruth Chris' and even though it wasn't on their menu, the chef prepared her requested dish! Evan was our waiter and Dan was his assistant and the level of service was a 10/10. We will be back!
We had shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, filets cooked perfectly with sides of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The food was delicious and kept piping hot by the plates. Our table was upstairs in a cozy room. Service was great and quick!
Great experience and service! Thanks Lance for making our anniversary special.
The food was excellent. The dessert not so great. I had the bread pudding with sweet cream and it tasted like raw bread with icing. It needs a new recipe. The server was great.
Superb service. Manager(Shawn) very much a people person and engaged in enhancing our dinning experience. Highly recommended.
Good not great - steaks were very good but sides were unremarkable (mac and cheese, creamed spinach, fries) and we were seated very close to a loud group, high margin restaurant should space tables a bit more generously. Bottom line is that at the price, I can get a better experience at Celestial, Tony's, Jag's or Jack Ruby
Food and service were very good. Ambiance was nice but music was a little loud. We would have preferred quieter more relaxing music. Server brought a special dessert for our anniversary. Nice touch.
Richard was our server and was excellent. We were greeted at the door and our reservations were recognized and we were taken right to our table. The GM Shawn Gardner visited our table to check on us. Our party of five enjoyed the meal and the service. Definitely a return visit.
Steaks were great and so was the lobster Mac and cheese! Service didn't match up.
We really enjoyed our dinner. The food was fantastic, the steak, wedge salad, baked potato and asparagus was delicious. The doneness of the meat was perfect, medium rare for the filet and medium for the strip steak. We also enjoyed the chocolate molten cake. Our waiter Terrell performed well also.
Great service wonderful food! Thoughtful touch with a anniversary card
Terrible service. This is by far the worst Ruth’s Chris in the system. Absolutely terrible. Service is lacking. No attention to detail. Poorly managed.
We enjoyed ourselves very much, everything was cooked to perfection as usaul. I wouldnt expect anything less from a five star restaraunt such as Ruth Chris.
Our favorite place for special occasions
Early Valentine’s Day dinner
The restaurant was nice. The server was knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. He went out of his way to make our engagement dinner memorable. He gets an A+. The food was ok at best. I was expecting more. It was a good dining experience, but not great.
Great as always... we enjoy each time we go. I have reviewed this before, but I still have to leave a lengthy response so here it is...
This was my first time there. Excellent drinks. Bartender did a fantastic job. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted great. Pared nicely with the steak. No vegetarian dishes for my date. May want to look into adding dishes instead of picking from sides to make one. Overall a nice experience.
Was in Cincinnati to visit my daughter at college. After a performance she was in, I took her and her boyfriend to a late night dinner. We purposely selected Ruth's Chris because of the quality of the restaurant and because I don't think I've ever had a bad experience no matter what city I'm in. Unfortunately this Cincinnati restaurant does not live up to the standards of Ruth's Chris – not even close.
I ordered the tuna cooked medium. Before doing so, I specifically asked the waiter if it would be a problem to have it cooked beyond seared. I know in many establishments, the cooks hate to do that. He assured me that it would not be a problem. When it came to the table and I cut into it it was ice cold in the middle barely seared. The other half around the end that I try to cut had so much fat in the piece I couldn't get my knife through it. The side of broccoli that I ordered to go with my tuna was so barely steamed and hard as a rock.
Luckily my daughter and her boyfriend both ordered steaks and they were perfectly fine but the fact I could not even eat my meal was inexcusable. To add insult to injury, our waiter never stop by to see how our meal was whether the steaks were cooked properly or how our meal was in general. I tried to get his attention a couple of times but he didn't even look our way as he was too fixated on the large table of 12 he was attending to. It was like our table was invisible.
When the waiter finally came by it was to pick up our plates, I explained to him that I couldn't eat my meal and proceeded to show him the tuna. He simply stated, "OK." He offered no apology or made any attempt to see if I wanted a replacement. Picked up the plates and scurried off. Next time he came to the table a few minutes later it was with a dessert menu. I assume he did not offer me anything else because by that point in time the kitchen had closed but that is no excuse for an establishment such as this.
Excellent customer service!!! The food was great and the atmosphere was beautiful. My husband and I enjoyed our 15th and 16th anniversary at this restaurant.
My daughter gave us a gift card to go to Ruth's Chris. We did not use it right away but so glad we finally made it. The food was excellent. I had the filet and lobster tails along with the sweet potato casserole. My husband remarked that his was very good also. Loved the brussell sprouts. The salad dressings were home made. Real egg in the Thousand Island Dressing. We will definitely go back.
Great food, Great Service, the music level was a little too loud. Overall a great place to eat!
The service was very good but is typically outstanding and the filet was good but is typically very good; was slightly over cooked. I did not alert the server of the filet being prepared differently than I ordered.
Twice we’ve gone and had HORRIBLE experiences both times. The second time we went because we thought it was possibly a fluke the first time that our food, service, and alcohol were terrible, but boy, were we proven wrong. It took more than 30 min for our appetizers to come out to a table of 4, didn’t see our server for over an hour, my husband’s Old Fashioned was awful but couldn’t be exchanged because we didn’t see the server, the server brought out the wrong wine, opened it and poured it without checking, the server skipped my husband when taking orders so we had to find another server after she left to take the order, the creamed spinach was cool and mediocre at best, my friends husband never did get a refill on his beverage despite asking for one, our cheesecake was grainy, not smooth, our steak was ok but clearly not trimmed of any fat at all. We regularly go out for nicer steak dinners, but if we’re going to spend $400-$500 on a nice dinner we’ll spend our money somewhere else. If we want that kind of service we’ll go somewhere that we aren’t spending as much. We expected better and won’t ever be back.
