Ruth's Chris Steak House - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
We have been to this Ruth's Chris location several times and have always loved it on previous visits. It was our favorite steakhouse. This last trip however was awful. Our drinks were watered down (I am not a big drinker) none of our steaks were prepared as ordered nor did they seem of the same quality of cut as previous visits, the potatoes were dry and tasted reheated and the Ranch dressing on the salad was horrible, was like eating mayo. Our waitress was very nice but not very attentive or knowledgeable regarding menu items or general restaurant questions. The manager did comp one steak and one side but I do not think we will be returning.
A steak experience like no other - meat perfectly prepared and served on a sizzling bed of butter. You can't just share a picture of your food with friends, you have to take a video to capture the energy and sound of the plate! Because we noted that we were celebrating our anniversary, they subtly decorated our table and dessert plates to make the occasion special. There are several steak places in downtown Chicago, and Ruth's Chris should be at the top of your list.
Solid food and service was on point. The 3-course meals on the inside menu cover are a fabulous deal! We dine at Ruth's a few times a year at various locations and this one did not disappoint. Service was attentive but unobtrusive, and the quality of the steaks was phenomenal. I've had prime steaks that didn't wow me for the price, but my filet here was fab- cooked to perfection and it cut like butter. The sauce trio was tasty if you like some added flavor, and it's perfect for sharing.
One thing I wasn't wowed by is the mushroom couscous- dry, bland and unremarkable compared to the other sides such as the Brussels sprouts and jalapeño corn
We went on Christmas night and had a great meal in a lovely restaurant. It was unusual to have the steak served on a small host plate only big enough for the steak but it worked it kept the steak hot and the vegetables was served hot and we had a side plate.
We went on Christmas for a special dinner. They cooked 2 out of 4 of our steaks wrong. Way over cooked one til it was dry when I ordered med rare. By the time I got my steak back I was full eating the sides of lobster mac and cheese and others. I had to take it to go. It was a disappointment. Especially when u want yo eat a holiday meal with your family. They comped a round of drinks but 2 out of four steaks cooked wrong is pretty bad for a place that specializes in steaks.
Got seated early for our reservation which was nice. The food was pretty good. I had a surf and turf which was a great value and the wife had a petit filet. Both were good but not out of this world.
The waiter who served us seemed disinterested and unhappy. He lacked friendliness and really detracted from the night. The busboy was much friendlier and outgoing and didn't seem miserable being there.
The restaurant did well paying attention to my note about my wife's birthday and even had confetti on our table when we sat- a nice touch. We also received a small cheesecake desert to share.
Overall a nice experience but if I'm going to spend $200+ on a meal, Mastros or Swift and Son will get my future business.
We were at the restaurant at 6:45. We checked in and sat at the bar. At 19:45 we asked the bartender to see if we could be seated. At 20:17 we were finally seated after I went to the hostess desk. We live two blocks from a Ruth's Chris in middleton wi and never have had such bad service. Very disappointing!
Overall, the food was good but not great. There was nothing special about the steaks. What was most disappointing was the service. We saw our server only three times - drink order, food order and to give us the check. Some of our food was delivered cold and we had to get the busboy to help us since our waiter was no where to be found. For the price, there are a lot of other options in the city. We will not be back.
Super busy but that’s expected for a Saturday night.we had an 8:15 reservation and had to wait about 20 min.the staff was friendly and competent.fun night out with the family.very kid friendly.in a town of many great steakhouses Ruth Chris didn’t disappoint
