Ruth's Chris Steak House - Calgary Ratings and Reviews
We noticed some changes since our last visit. Different bar menu, not as many meat choices (USDA vs Canadian beef, for example). Still excellent food and service overall. If you're looking for a white-tablecloth steakhouse experience, Ruth's Chris won't disappoint.
Food was good. Pricey. I'm worried about expensing the business lunch.
Service was poor to fair. The restaurant was nearly empty and our server was slow to take our order, we couldn't have dessert because we ran out of time, water glasses were empty. It's challenging to be empathetic when there are so few other customers.
I ordered the petit rib eye and was very disappointed in the quality of the steak, our sweet potato had lumps of brown sugar on the top which was not very appetizing. While our waiter was lovely, it took quite some time for him to come and get our drink order. The restaurant is highly overpriced for the quality of the food.
We had a family dinner for 9 people and we had never been there before. It would have been nice if the waiter mentioned the size of the vegetable and other side dishes and we would have all ordered differently so we could share a Vegetable and a Starch rather than sharing so many Vegetable dishes. We all ordered the 4 course menu.
The waiter also forgot to charge us for a bottle of wine and then he came back to us after we had paid and were ready to leave. He made a big apology and I said he did not have to apologize. It was an awkward moment when he asked us for more money when our bill was already approx. $1,200 with a mandatory tip. With 9 people I am not a big fan of mandatory tips.
Was a little disappointed. We waited well over an hour for our meal and finally had to ask for bread which they usually bring immediately. Shortly before our meal came our waiter came to apologize that computers were down but meal coming shortly. Was still a good 15 - 20 min after that when our meals arrived. Feel they should have informed us earlier and at the least offered us some compensation for waiting so long for our meal or even offered us a free drink or something. Found out later the table beside us were offered compensation on their bill.
This was my first time eating at Ruth's Chris and it just so happened to be the one in Calgary on a trip to Canada for the Thanksgiving holidays. The food was so delicious and the service outstanding. Everything was romantic, elegant and pure class. They have a new fan and I will definitely be back!!
You have to try this place! Excellent service, paired with some of the best food you could ask for. It isn’t easy to find a nice quiet restaurant anymore for a nice night out, but now I know where I’m going. I’ll definitely be going back for more of those delicious steaks.
Fantastic food, great service. My filet was cooked perfectly, delicious!! Overall, a fantastic meal. My wife and I will be back for sure!! My only complain would be the price for the basic sides and the common/domestic drinks. I understand the place is fancy, but the basics should be a little more reasonably priced.
Great place - but PRICEY!!!!!!!!
I really could not recommend this place without warning the person you are looking at a minimum of $100.00 per person. I think there are places in town that are as good or even better with more realistic prices. Not for the average person.
This is the second time we have gone to RuthsChris Calgary. The first time was a year ago for my Birthday and last Saturday evening for my Husband’s and my Anniversary. We were treated like Royalty in both visits. I totally recommend this establishment for every day dining and especially for special occasions.
Our most recent visit (have been once before) was for my girlfriends birthday. We went for the Wednesday night date night and had a great time. Our server Daniel was awesome and very attentive. He provided amazing service and had just the right amount of humour. The food both times was amazing. The first time we had the stuffed mushrooms so we opted for the calamari to change things up a bit and it was excellent. The steak which we had both times was cooked perfectly and was incredibly tender and juicy. We had the chocolate duo which was also very good. Will definitely be back for date night.
Good food, service was interesting, some new waiters a little over the top interrupting conversations continuously, asking to take away the horseradish just after someone else just dropped it off, topping off my sparkling water with regular water...
Service could have been more professional. The food was excellent.
We had never been to this location. From some reviews I was a little concerned about whether the food and service would be up to par for Ruth's Chris. It was great! The staff went out of their way to help us celebrate our anniversary.
The service was fantastic and the food arrived as it should and in a timely manner. We ordered from the "date night" menu. We especially enjoyed the steak (of course) the salmon filet, and the vegetables (the creamed spinach was yummy). Stuffed mushrooms appetizer was okay - we've had better.
Desserts were amazing.
I would highly recommend the Calgary location for a special night out.
Exceptional food and service. Rib eye tender and juicy. Service great. We were celebrating a special birthday.. I made a mistake and made our reservations for a day later. Even though they were very busy, they found us a table, and treated us royally. Surf and turf was really good. Desert was great, too. Highly recommend their steaks.
First and foremost, the food was amazing. I would say the bottle of wine was the most healthy thing we ate - and that's not a complaint. I think there was butter in or on everything and that only makes things more delicious. Not healthy but that's not why we were there.
The service was just right. Helpful, friendly, excellent service without being interrupting.
It's pricey but for the occasional nice evening, really nice!
The steak was fantastic! Side dishes were quite large but a little underseasoned. $19 for a glass of everyday wine was ridiculous!
Overall I felt the prices were way too high for the amount and quality of food. Even with the special deals that the restaurant is trying to promote, it's still not enough savings to bring me back through the door. Too bad as the steak is definitely one of the best I've ever had but I will not be back because of the prices
I was stunned - it was that excellent of an experience. I avoided Ruth's Chris for years due to it being a chain steak restaurant. This time, I was persuaded into going and I'm extremely glad I did.
Hani was our server. Stellar gentleman who knew how to take jibes and give them, while maintaining professionalism - which is absolutely impressive.
The food - Lobster bisque, filet mignon, prawns, chicken breast, and a side of scallops. Dessert - Banana cream pie and bread pudding. I ate it all and I'm eager to go back for more.
Seriously - eat here. One of my new favorites.
