Ruth's Chris Steak House - Boston Ratings and Reviews
After many wonderful meals at this location our experience was very disappointing. Our waiter did not come over to the table for almost 10 minutes 3 of the 4 steaks that were suppose to medium were not. Two of them were very under cooked and one was over cooked. The waiter never came over to check on us and at the end when we were asked if we were taking home the remainder of the steak my friend said no it is to under cooked and he said well you should of ordered it well done. Overall not a good night
My steak was so under cooked when I cut it open and asked a waiter what he thought I ordered he said medium rare and I ordered medium well.
They took it back and over cooked it. I took a few bites but never complained and my server took away my plate and without speaking just came back and said my meal was comped and gave me and my daughter a free desert as it was my birthday.
I expected that as it is not the first time I have been to a first class steak house nor is it the first time my steak has been ruined. I still respect what they did.
Diner was almost perfect. Before getting our table in the diner room, we've been to the bar. Service at the bar was not good and really slow, even if we ordered a bottle of wine, we had to call the waitress for the wine list, for the bottle, then for the check...
We went there for a birthday dinner for two on a Sunday night around 7pm. The hostess and waiter were nice and attentive. The restaurant was quiet, maybe game night? Both of us started with a cocktail, it came but the glasses felt kinda sticky as if the drink were made and there was spillage and they did not bother to clean them well. Drink presentation were ok, glasses were not elegant or anything for the price... $14 each. Then we shared the ravioli appetizer. That was yummy, but disappointed that a steak house only had one choice of non-seafood as an appetizer, that was weird! We both ordered the steak (a filet and a bone-in filet.) A side of corn and caramelized fingering potatoes, which btw was not caramelized... more like stir fry in sugar. The steak was good, not great, but expect more for the price. The wine by the glass was good as well. We wrap up dinner with molten lava chocolate cake and mousse, we were stuffed. There were not acknowledgement of a birthday, no candle or writing on the dessert we ordered. Overall, we expected more for the price. It was just okay good.
We went here for our NYE anniversary, the atmosphere is very romantic, dim lighting and very nice. It was very busy because it was NYE, the staff seemed very rushed and were running around. Never once did anyone ask us what the occasion was. I believe it stated it in our reservation. The food was good, my husband steak was delicious, mine was very undercooked but I did eat around it. I would go back on a night when it wouldn’t be expected to be so busy!
The steaks and the sides at Ruth's Chris are top notch - absolutely no complaints. And the staff was fine as well - friendly, pretty much available, etc. The problem I had when we went there on Christmas Evening, was that they put us in a room that looked like someone's basement. It was like they cleared out a storage room and shoved in some tables. the walls were pockmarked and needed paint badly. At the prices they charge (dinner for two was >$250), this is really not acceptable. It is not like we showed up unannounced - we made reservations a few weeks in advance. I would recommend them for their food - but I wish I had just gone to the bar to eat - it is much better ambience than the storage room. I attached a picture of my wife's view the entire meal.
Ruth's Chris is a favorite for special occasions. Family went this year for Christmas Eve. Food was as wonderful as always. Our waitress was reasonably attentive and friendly. Biggest issue was we were sat 1/2 hour later than our reservation. Told "people are lingering longer than most nights because it is Christmas Eve so your table isn't ready; try the bar" Bar was being used as additional dining space so no place to even stand there. Also no place to stand at all as they weren't doing a good job encouraging customers "not to linger longer than normal" they just let people stack up waiting. This was a disappointing way to start our Christmas Eve and may well be the last time we go there for this special event
This was our 12th in a row Christmas Eve family dinner at RC. The food and service is always exceptional. Still the best steak I have ever had anywhere in my life. Wasn't too happy about the table the 4 of us were at by the steps in the lower level with waiters always hitting me with their serving trays as they walked by. Wanted a different table when we were first seated to avoid the crowded nature of where we were assigned this table, but was told there were no others available as the restaurant was sold out.
This was the best meal we have had in quite some time. The filet and sea bass were both outstanding. House salad and asparagus were both very good; shoe string potatoes so-so. The service was slow ( Christmas Eve. ) but the waiter was very good. Pricey would but highly recommend
