Went to Ruth's Chris in celebration of Restaurant week. The PLace is very intimate, the service was very good and the food was great. BUT... I ordered a drink, my usual Ketel on the rocks, the glass was put in front of me, it was wet, I lifted it to make a toast and before I could sip, it slid out of my hand. The staff was very good and moved us to another table..very nice, brought me another drink, very nice, when I looked at the bill they actually charged me for the drink that fell from my hand. I find that VERY TACKY!!!! I have been in the restaurant business for many years and am VERY suprised that a restaurant with Ruth's Chris reputation would jeopardize a customer for an 11.00 cocktail.
It was a first time experience, food was fabulous, waiter Jake fantastic as was all the other servers. Dessert delicious overall great night
This is a good steak house. We were there for restaurant week in boston, so it was very busy & therefore very noisy. So we would have to give it another try on a less busy night.
The wait staff was very bad. Didn't even get served bread. They brought the salad out and literally 1 minutes later the enter was shoved in front of us. Very disappointing experience!
Had to wait a little at the front even with a reservation. Our server was slow in taking and bringing our orders. Food was excellent as usual but portions have shrunk. I wish there's more choices in steak in the restaurant week menus. The dessert was mediocre but server gave me an extra one to take home because I was running late. Overall had a good experience.
Just returned from a fantastic lunch at Ruth's Chris Steak House. Again on for Boston's restaurant week, I was delighted to score a resrvation. My comapnion and I had the same meal: corn chowder, filet and mashed potatoes. We both agreed to was an excellent meal. Dessert of bread pudding was also excellent. Despite what appeared to be many guests at check-in the restaurant was quieter than other visits. Can't wait to return.
The steak was OUTSTANDING. Tender and flavorfull.
Each side dish was delicous.
Waiter should have advised us that the lemonade was $4.50 per glass and did not come with unlimited refills.
My friend and I came here for lunch during restaurant week in Boston and the experience was great. We were seated quickly, the meal was fantastic (I LOVE the buttered filet cooked at 1,800 degrees F!) and the wait staff was very attentive. I have eaten here a few times before and will defnitely come again, although it can be a bit pricey during the "non-restaurant week" timeframe so it may not be regularly.
I went for restaurant week with one of my girlfriends and it was a great experience. We were able to have a wonderful lunch, talk freely without thinking we were too loud, and enjoyed delicious food. I would love to come back again for next restaurant week.
salad and dessert was very poor. but filet is really great. service was not so good.
On the pricey side so go during restaurant week. Didn't get steak since it is so incredibly small and I've been told by waiters that Ruth doesn't use their highest grade of meat during this event. Crab cakes were excellent.
One of my highlights is when my filet/steak is cooked to perfection. It was. Thanks you.
I've always had a great experience at Ruth's Chris. It's one of my favorite restaurants. My peers and I make it a point to get there at least twice during Restaurant Week(s). Usually, we have a one large group and get there early to eat in the lounge/bar. The second trip is smaller crowd and we have reservations in the dining room.
Great to get out to one of my favorite steak places. Food is great.
Service and entree were excellent. Salad could have used a little of acid to brighten it.
A choice of dessert or alcohol free dessert would have been preferable.
Amazing food at an amazing historic location! Definitely a special occasion place or a romantic evening for two (or a special lunch.) The filet was absolutely cooked to perfection! And the bread pudding was out of this world!
Absolutely love this restaurant. The food is fantastic, especially the filet mignon! Always great ambience and wonderful staff!
My husband said the NY Strip was by far the best steak he's ever had. I had the filet and thought it was equally as good! We were seated in the old vault room and loved it! The atmosphere was quiet in there as there are only 5 or 6 tables in that room. I can't speak for the atmosphere in the rest of the restaurant though. We definitely plan on making another visit to Ruth's Chris in the future!
Their steak never disappoints me. Cooked medium then placed on a 500 degree plate which keeps it sizzling hot to warm from beginning to the end of the meal. Don't expect a friendly welcome from the hostess, but expect great service from the waiters and waitresses.
had the blue crab cakes and the corn and crab chowder- both were delicious! My boyfriend had the NY Strip booked medium and we had sides that were the sauteed mushrooms and creamed spinach. we had the restaurant week menu- it was great food at a great price. My favorite part was that the steak comes out of a 1800 degree oven and is served at1 500 degrees?! I love when a dish is warm throughout the meal- great treat!
We had to continually ask for items that should have been served automatically - such as bread. The steaks were good but I've had better at other white tablecoth establishments. I will likely choose other establishments for this type of dining in the future. This was a restaurant week visit and perhaps the quality fell short.
I enjoyed the dining at Ruth Chris alot. The atmoshpere was so lovely and perfect for a romantic evening. The building was scenic and the hostess was very nice and helpful! I love the shrimp and steak and next time I will order the chicken. I also had the best cheesecake I ever had!
"I am in steak nirvana, I am one with the steak" my friend said at dinner on Sunday. I think that sums its up pretty well. The food, the service, the atmosphere were all amazing. The one downside is that too many managers (3-4 different people)kept stopping by to see how our meal was. One person outside of the server is enough, honestly. But overall everything was perfect. I can't wait to go back again. I want to try many more of the dinner options.
The food amazing! We order two filets, one au poivre and one oscar and both were delicious. The au poivre was a little overcooked, but it was still good. We ordered the baby spinach and potatoes au gratin as our sides. The spinach was my favorite!
Everything was great. Went there for restaurant week. You can't pick a better location. Server was excellent and food was perfect.
Very good for a small family get-together. We went on Friday night of Restaurant Week.
Food was great, the server was very nice but was late in bringing our beverages to the table, may have forgotten them as we eventually got his attention and reminded him. But, having said that they were extremely busy and it is understandable. We will give it a try again and return in the summer and try it again.
Fantastic restaurant, especially if you like steak! The rooms down stairs were quiet and very enjoyable way to enjoy a good meal. You will not be disappointed with this choice.
Fantastic restaurant week experience. The only negative aspect of this night out was dealing with the hostest who was rude and made it clear she did not like restaurant week. Our server Ben (from Maine) was fantastic.
I love the warm comfortable feeling I get when dining here. This is the third time here for Boston Restaurant Week and we cannot wait to come back to try the regular menu! Steaks are flavorful, cooked to perfection and so tender you almost do not need a knife. Service is attentive and the wine list is extensive and will fit everyone's budget!
The ambience was great. We sat in a small room downstairs with 5-6 tables. We both got the filet 'medium'. his was perfect, but mine was a little overdone. Other than that, it was great!
I always love Ruth's Chris and have never had a bad experience. On this day I went to lunch with two of my co-workers and we were all disappointed with our waiter's (Eric) attitude. For example, he asked one of my co-workers if she wanted water in her glass and when she hesitated just a second, he said "it's free" like he had some preconceived notion that we were cheap. He didn't smile once and pretty much avoided our table as much as possible even though he was also serving the table next to us, he avoided eye contact each time. However, as usual, the food was excellent!
I go to this restaurant regularly. The food is always outstanding. The best filet in Boston.
The food was excellent. Servers were very accomodating.
Ruth's Chris has always been a favorite steak house of mine, so I couldn't resist visiting them when I saw them listed on the Restaurant Week lineup. What a bargain! Nothing was sacrificed for the discounted meal... portion, value, service and taste were all top-notch. Thanks for a great night out and a great price!
the food was so good and the staff was excellant it was a pleasant night out
Everything was excellent. Dan was a superb waiter who accommodated us (6)in every way. I also have to thank the woman who found my purse at the lounge bar and put it in the safe. I was so excited to see my friends that I forgot all about it. It's nice to know that there are still honest people in the world. It is also nice to know that you can just sit back and relax and let the manager (Rich)and staff do their jobs with such enthusiasum.
I was looking forward a high quality steak. However I was a little disappointed. Its steak is just soso, nothing special about steak or sauce. Sides were good.
As always I very much enjoyed my meal at Ruth's Chris Steak House. My daughter was over the moon with her meal once again. Unfortunately I was seated by a drafty window and had to put my coat over my shoulders. It was very busy in the restaurant so I didn't ask to move :(
The waitress was very nicem great for restaurant week.
